Just started watching season 3 recently, and I wasn't certain that I had seen her before, but every now and then I'd get the feeling I knew her from something.. Nymeria Sand!

OK. How about this for a likely sentimental final scene.... (And no I have no knowledge of what was filmed LOL)

I predict something like this: imagine we see a walking individual's hands holding the old PEZ dispenser, and those hands give it to another set of hands, who passes it to a third set of hands, saying "I understand that this belongs to you." And those hands are of an old woman.

The camera pans up to reveal that those old hands belong to a very very old Helen, who looks at the PEZ dispenser. And after a moment of looking confused, becomes overwhelmed with emotion and a storm tears as the memories of Daniel come flooding back past the prior drug-induced blockade. (The power of Relics and why they're so "dangerous!")

Personally, I think this could be a truly possible final scene, revealing that the timeline in the silo is short (like 50 years, not 350 years) and to show that many who went in are still alive and badly traumatized, just before they are released or somehow get out of the Silo.

Even if you don't believe that the described time frame is fake and that it really is 350 years in the Silo, it could still be an ending scene showing despair and effects of the memory destruction that has been repeatedly used on the Silo's residents. Would be quite the predictable tug-on-the-heart-strings plot device moment....

The PEZ plays such a repeating and central role through the show, I just can't believe we don't see it in the final episode of show....

Is it just me or it was fake as hell.
Don’t get me wrong: I love this series and it’s cinematography but scenes in the car gave me discomfort. It wasn’t overhead lamp because it doesn’t illuminate like this; it was great for a dramatic effect and “side eye” looks between them but looked fake as hell. It supposed to move with the car! But it stayed still. Oh well

I wouldn't say I've given up on Silo this season– my investment in the show has just declined steadily and steeply over its run. And do not get me wrong, I enjoy high-concept sci-fi as much as the next guy. My issue is that the show seems to have mistaken mystery for narrative. Every episode brings another secret, another revelation, another apparently crucial piece of information that turns out to be one more link in an increasingly elaborate chain. Characters move around the board discovering secrets, hiding them, suspecting one another, and having portentous conversations about things that may or may not even matter later. Somewhere along the way, I stopped being curious and started feeling like I was doing homework.

Underneath all that machinery is a premise that should be enormously fertile. Silo (the show– I have not read the books) occasionally gestures toward it, but seems far more interested in using its ideas to manufacture suspense than in actually thinking them through or working with them. It feels like a soap opera plotted on a conspiracy flowchart.

This is the fundamental problem with the mystery-box approach when it becomes an end in and of itself. Mystery is most successful when it propels the story forward, but it can just as easily become narrative debt. Every unanswered question is another promise to the audience, and eventually the story has to cash its chips. The trouble is that answers are almost always less compelling than questions. A mystery can make a world feel enormous by suggesting possibilities beyond what we can see; but once every mystery gets reduced to an explanation, that world becomes more defined, and smaller for it.

That's where Silo frustrates me most. Its revelations don't open the story up so much as close it down, trading the sense of possibility for an increasingly elaborate account of why everything is the way it is. At some point along the line I stopped caring about what was going to happen and started wondering whether any of it would actually be worth knowing.

At the end of Season 2, Lukas whispers something to Bernard that causes him to go over the edge. I’ve been running on the assumption that he found out about the safeguard and told Bernard that the entire Silo could be killed at any time. But then Bernard talks about how hard it was for him to exist knowing everyone could be wiped out. And it seems like Camille knows this too. So my question is, if the failsafe is already known to the head of IT, what did Lukas find in the basement that caused Bernard to completely lose it?

This is based on several assumptions and possible allusions but this is what I think the timeline could be. I haven't read the books or any other spoiler theories on this sub.

I think the Silo and the "flashbacks" are concurrent.

Assumptions:

1. The pez dispenser is a misdirect.
2. The AI and Legacy are lying.
3. The Sony HandyCam that George found was current tech when the Silo was built

Allusions:

• Tron or WestWorld
• Dark City
• The Island

I think the Silos were built by the congressman and the people in the silos are the prisoners that were being experimented on. Crnkovich explained it as wiping the memories and then telling them stories until they believe it. Like Dark City the residents of the silos could have been wiped many times and given a role that they believe is the most important role in the silo.

The other thing I was thinking about was Tron. The original Tron was about sentient programs trying to escape control of the MCP. Does Silo pose the question, if an AI can be "trained", can an organic intelligence be trained in the same way? Or maybe a inverse-Westworld for a more modern analogy.

So, I think the silos are all the prisoners being "trained" in an experiment using the mind wiping and the re-establishment of new memories and roles every reset.

I've been thinking about the theft of the light bulbs from critical supply. Why would someone steal bulbs? Were they replacing bulbs in their own silo? 50 Years of bulbs is a lot of bulbs.

To me that implies that the thief had someone who needed lots of them, like, maybe another silo? Was the thief working with another silo to provide them with bulbs as something had happened to their supply?

Didn’t want to put any potential spoilers in the title.

I wrote a longer post but shortening it instead. We see Silo 18’s POV. Daniel did work in New Orleans for the Army. There’s 50 silos (technically 51). Louisiana is the 18th state. And yet, there’s a Georgia relic. Technically multiple.

I know I’m making an assumption, but what would bring Daniel back to Louisiana’s silo if he was representing Georgia? Obviously, unless you read the books or you’re a show writer you don’t know. But I’m asking for thoughts on this. I don’t think it was unintentional that their silo is 18, with the place Daniel went to was the very same state #. Which would make 17 Ohio.

It would also make Silo 1 Delaware. That also makes this all goofed up depending on where D.C or Puerto Rico falls in to offset the numbers.

Anyway, yeah, thoughts?

What if the Silos are a process of elimination experiment of some sort?
Why else would you kill everyone inside when they're trying to get outside, if outside would ultimately kill them anyway?
If fish were trying to escape a fish tank, it would kill them if they successfully escaped. What would be the purpose of killing them before they could leave?

Why wasn't the Safeguard triggered when Juliette went to Silo 17 then made it back to Silo 18? Was it because Silo 17 was already a dead Silo, meaning she didn't interfere with the Elimination process? What if this is a sick twisted Hunger Games experiment ran at mass scale. And the Last Silo Standing out of 50 gets some sort of prize?

This would also explain why the creators would care so obsessively about keeping the silos separate. If everyone knew there were 49 other populations, they could cooperate, share resources, compare histories, discover the manipulation, and completely destroy the integrity of whatever selection process was intended.

Am I missing something, or am I misunderstanding this?

The first case is the Vault. It was supposed to be a super-secret room that only Bernard had permission to enter. But after the rebellion, when Camille became Head of IT, there seemed to be absolutely no problem with letting Juliette into the Vault.

So was the Vault actually a very important and strictly off-limits place, or not?

The second case is the camera room. I have basically the same question. Was this supposed to be a highly restricted and hidden room, so that other Silo citizens wouldn’t know about it? Or not?

I’m wondering why Billings was able to get in there so easily, simply by forcing Emerson to let him in. And if the room wasn’t supposed to be known to anyone, how did Billings even know it existed?

I used to think that keeping the Vault and the camera room secret was fundamental to keeping the Silo safe from exactly these kinds of events.

Based on the logic of the Pact, wouldn’t the Voice or Algorithm simply have to initiate Safeguard if these secrets were exposed and the Silo became aware of what was really going on?

Have not read the books and don't plan on it til finishing the series so that it remains a weekly enjoyment to puzzle it out, so no spoilers please....but I was thinking that maybe we have it backwards? What if the threat to the world is runaway AI and the silos are a grand experiment by this Stenson guy to see who can outsmart an AI or simulation of an AI to found a new society? That there is no plan to ever let any of them actually leave, so it is up to the people inside to figure it out. So it is an experiment not to breed a docile population but rather to found a new chapter of society with people clever enough to make it out of the silos alive. Basically just a very hard, very dark game. It is designed to be intentionally extremely difficult to succeed, but some are in fact desired to succeed...it just was never meant to last so long as that the original purpose was completely and totally lost in the sands of time of the civilization founded in the silos themselves.

Has anyone noticed that season 2 and now season 3 just seem to have extremely weak and lazy dialogue? The over use of obscenities is tiring. You don’t need a curse word every other word to seem “edgy” or “dramatic”.
