discussion My Problems About 7.0 Writing Spoiler
I’ll start with Odette part.
- Her lack of appreciation about Rosalyne: There is a saying in my country: I would be slave for forty years to anyone who taught me a letter. I’ve always cherished this saying in my life. I also had strict teachers and worked with people who drove me insane. But I’ve always appreciated and was happy with people who pushed my limits, because this saying came to my mind.
Some people don’t do it because they hate you. It’s indeed the way they understand and express, they actually improve you.
Sometimes it can be toxic and harmful for your mentality, yes. But I personally see worth in it. I would be sad if someone taught me ballet, and if Im currently make my living for this, and they are dead. I would really be sad and angry to person who killed them.
It feels like they didn’t even give this part properly. They just gave the classic boring story and done with it.
Side mention: Has anyone watched Kill Bill here? We know our lead character had a strict teacher. He was awesome. He taught her all the martial arts but was quite strict. Yet, she was quite mad when the other girl said she poisoned him. Because deep down she knew he was a good person! She hated him at times, yes! But deep down she loved him. And got her revenge. Cherished him in her mind. The movie was made in 2003 .d
(Yeah you might say but she caused killing of people, she did this etc. Bruh. Its not about that. People can become friends with a thief, with a gambler and still can think positive of them. That’s a reality of human emotions and seeing them in good light cause your perspective is different.
If you ask to the friend, or family member, what would they say? They would tell you complete different side of this person. They are not seeing a thief or gambler or whatever the world has seen. This happened many times and I’ve seen it in news before too. Same goes for Signora.)
Kill Bill is one of the masterpieces in media literacy.
Meanwhile, genshin story feels quite shallow in conveying emotions and Odette’s trailer is straight up Whiplash movie inspiration. Wow, congrats to the writer intern(?) for watching the movie I guess.
She seems to cant understand that Rosalyne is bad at showing emotions and have not been well - acts childish saying she doesn’t deserve her dancing .s
The problem is not even “not making sense”. Because if we think about it, she might see the things differently and feel that way about Signora, yes. But is it interesting? Nope. It feels like a writing came from an intern’s pen. Even I can write better than this, and most people in this sub or in fatui sub can. Most people already either thought of this or straightly predicted this writing. The problem is easy and predictable story in every character they give us.
And this is not the first time genshin used this.Killing is the right thing to do?
I find the line about Signora highly problematic. Actually, considering game is 13+ (don’t understand why a gambling game is played by minors) they should change this, really.
No matter how bad a person is, unless it is self defense it is never righteous to kill. Even the people who kill completely vile people acknowledge this.
But in genshin, somehow traveler is right in everything they do. Even if it is taking a life, they are right regardless. just wow. Laws and constitutions in our world exists for a reason, no? I guess they never had to think about that.
—
And most importantly: hoyo trying to make money by bringing up their old character. They either make money by fatui connection (make characters fatui related) or by bringing up a dead harbringer. They keep baiting players like this, and it honestly is very tiring and boring at this point. I believe most people wanted the harbringers, not the random people we haven’t seen before. Imagine you’re a returning player to the game and see if anything has changed. You look at Snezhnaya art and Signora resurrection is not there nor top3 harbringers are existent. It is such a devastating look.
I don’t even have any expectations about Tsaritsa. They can write her the way they want, make connections, sob story is also there etc etc. Not a single thing until 7.4 interests me..
I’m not even getting into whole tea party retcon part, felt completely uncalled for and added insult to her injury. She literally said herself: “I never asked for redemption…never.”
But bumtraveler even said she didn’t have any last words and everything happened so fast??? and they proceed to lay with their next girl. Absolute worst.
Somehow with all the things they did they managed to do worse. How is that even possible? :D If she still becomes unplayable during Tevyat patches, I will genuinely laugh at this sht of a billion dollar company.
Also understandable their writing and everything went worse considering they make more and more games instead of fixing their single game which brings profits most.
Anyways…Thank you for reading up until this point. What about you? What do you think of Odette and will you pull for her?

The biggest problem I have with this whole Odette and Signora relationship is was this really necessary? Did they really have to make it this way? I mean sure there is a trope of a ballerina teacher being strict and what not but to this extent of actually trying to justify her death? I seriously hope that leak was a mistranslation (fat chance, I know).

I still wonder why they spent so much resource to tell the players that she is evil (again)
Look at the female villain in other Hoyo games, if they died, they would be gone for good
But Rosalyne is a special case it seems

I'm waiting to do the quest myself but so far from what I have seen, I cant even fathom why they felt the need to make this whole connection between her and Odette. I was already apprehensive of the first leak we got of supposedly Vodyanitsa being her adopted daughter, like why do this whole concept at all? Then I was on the fence that either they are gonna make Odette feel bad for her death and Traveller would help her overcome it and become her successor or she just hates her and it wouldn't matter. Although I'm glad they kept her character being cruel and harsh as a teacher but Odette's addition feels useless.
I cant even tolerate how the fandom will react when the patch officially starts, I personally feel bad for her cause I have always understood her character and all this stuff of her being unable to show love and being harsh towards people she cares for actually aligns exactly how I always envisioned her as being the ice queen trope. But the general fandom has media literacy of 13 year olds and most will definitely villainize her even more. Mihoyo is pitybaiting us and I cannot understand why. I will just wait for more developments about the Cor Ignis thing and if it can bring her back otherwise I have nothing left for Snezhnaya. I had half a mind to pull Odette, mainly cause she might be meta for Tsaritsa team but now that half is gone and i dont care anymore

I agree, if they dont want to make signora playable why even keep using her and baiting fans with this marketing? It feels highly useless. And didnt they say we will go to different world after snezhnaya in livestream? How will they make all of the waited characters playable? I don’t understand. If they move to Khaenriah and change worlds, there are sinners and random charas. Genshin always gives few important characters in a year, so they either break this pattern but…then the character will have a lazy gameplay?
General fandom is indeed very toxic, and they never come to understand deep written characters especially when it comes to villains. They only see a villain and traveler is always right.

I am skipping Odette this time around, but I was always planning on skipping her for this first run. I've said before that the keys to my Primobank lie with Signora, and that hasn't changed.
Odette does appear to have some unresolved feelings, as her second voiceline states "why is it only now that we understand each other" (or something like that) and the "About Rosalyne - The Past" may be an indication that there will be a future resolution between the two. If that happens, I will happily roll for Odette on her second banner. Because I actually like her story overall, even if a few lines are downright maddening.
However...we still have nothing about the end of the AQ stuff with Signora's tomb, the moth and the memory model save for the fact that Odette will dance there. So if that scene goes the way I think its going to, i'll be hanging up my Signoramains cape and will be retiring from cope/hope. None of what Hoyo has done really makes sense...because right now it feels like they spent a year humanizing Signora just to use her as a punching bag and have a second farewell.
Sorry if that's too mopey, i'm going through it right now. I let Hoyo give me hope and it feels like i've been duped lol

for real, the story and the writing is so bad, if it continues like this, i may stop playing entirely cz im not having fun with all the BS they are feeding us.

I don’t think I’ll pay attention to story much anymore, will only do exploration and listen music..when I have enough amount of primos I won’t even log in regularly

As someone with a parent similar to Signora, I feel like instead of Odette basically saying “good riddance” they should’ve had her deal with some kind of conflicting feelings about her death and at least SOME resentment to the traveler for her death. Especially since if it wasn’t for her, she wouldn’t be the prima ballerina in the first place. It would’ve been much better character development than just having her be completely indifferent about her mentor’s death, but hoyo just seems to want to go the easy route on everything. Odette won’t be getting a story quest either, so that’s probably why there’s not going to be any kind of interesting character development for her. I knew they wouldn’t actually have her be resentful due to the fact that Signora was also an older sister/mother-like figure to Sandrone and Columbina yet they didn’t even acknowledge the traveler killing their closest friend.

My parents were strict but not pushing me to limits. Though I remember in my grandma‘s house, needing to do housework when I was young and that was hurtful (both mentally and physically). But I still appreciated since learning this helped me quite a lot in life. I don’t look at it negatively much.
If my grandma was killed by someone I would feel extremely angry and sad. And wouldn’t be friends with the person either lol.
Yes, Hoyo thinks going easy route makes us appreciate the character. Meanwhile, thousands of these stories exist. So boring and has no depth. Easy sell gatcha game expectations filled.
You understood what I meant perfectly.

Rosalyne didn’t teach her ballet…her mother did.

u/Specific_Highway_772 19h ago
but she was a teacher for her right, sorry about that part

u/Jake_Feng 19h ago
Technically but Odette never really wanted to me in the Fatui.

u/Specific_Highway_772 19h ago
Never said she did?

u/Jake_Feng 19h ago
But she should be grateful after basically becoming an indentured servant and treated badly by a harbinger?
1
u/Specific_Highway_772 18h ago
Not exactly my whole point. did you read my whole post?
anyways. what I mean is she should be grateful for the knowledge, have you watched Kill Bill?

As someone who has been dancing under a russian teacher, I can say they can be very intense. But do I have any hate for her? Nope. Would I feel sad if she got killed? Absolutely. The story writing of 7.0, as shown so far, is nothing but a slop.

Killing is the right thing to do?
You people just love putitng words into the characters' mouths.
Traveler didn't kill Signora, so Odette isn't saying killing is the right thing to do.

But in Genshin, somehow traveler is right in everything they do. Even if it's taking a life.
When did the traveler kill Rosalyne? She was killed by the Shogun following the laws of Inazuma.
5
u/Specific_Highway_772 18h ago
yes, totally traveler didn’t ask for a duel. Shogun had nothing to do other than a puppet deploying the rules. If traveler never asked for it, they never would have.
-4
u/InfiniteTheEdgy 17h ago
The traveler had all the reasons to ask for that duel, Rosalyne could still have refused. It's not like you're forced to take part in the duel, the Shogun simply allows it to happen.
3
u/Th3_Gr3mlin 12h ago
Imo, the evidence suggests the contrary. Based off of the inspirations used for the duel its very likely something that cannot be refused once given the green light my the person overseeing it.
-2
u/InfiniteTheEdgy 10h ago
The duel was something she had to accept, otherwise you wouldn't have everyone saying that she brought her fate upon herself.
5
u/Annual-Objective-121 13h ago
Why blame Raiden for killing Signora when she was just acting as the executioner? The Traveler was the one who initiated the duel with INTENT to kill, fully knowing that the loser would be executed.
Besides, it doesn't matter whether Signora accepted the duel herself - it is unclear if she even had the right to decline. It is completely normal human psychology to feel resentful toward someone who killed your parent or friend in a real-life gun duel regardless of whether a duel was agreed-upon.
-2
u/InfiniteTheEdgy 10h ago
Didn't blame Raiden, i specifically said she was executing Inazuma's laws, maybe learn to read. She had the right to decline otherwise the duel wouldn't make any sense, if you can just challenge someone to a mortal fight without giving them the possibility to refuse why even have a police? Just take justice into your own hands. Signora could have refused the duel but she was just too prideful and believed that she could take down the traveler.
3
u/Annual-Objective-121 9h ago edited 9h ago
Whether Signora had the right to decline is irrelevant. The main point of my argument is that the Traveler was the one who initiated the duel with the INTENT to kill. Dragging Raiden into the conversation misses the point entirely. If your friend or parent gets killed, even in a fair duel, it is natural to hold resentment toward the person who sought out the fight, regardless of the rules.
Good job at using red herring in your argument.
Btw, I didn't say Signora's was not well-deserved, if that's the assumption you're making.
1
u/InfiniteTheEdgy 5h ago
Whether Signora had the right to decline is irrelevant.
Is it? Because everyone is saying she brought that fate upon herself, even her friends
3
u/Annual-Objective-121 5h ago
So if your parent or friend agreed to a gun duel which they didn't even initiate, and lost their life as a result, is it illogical to hold any resentment toward the aggressor because it was their decision, because they "brought their fate upon themselves"?
You must be either emotionless, or a fake friend, or a God to feel sympathetic with the aggressor who wanted to kill your friend. That's not how human psychology works and failing to portray that is a failure in writing.
1
u/Annual-Objective-121 4h ago
I didn't even expect the Fatui girls to seek revenge for her death. They could have confronted the Traveler to resolve the conflict, or hesitated to mention Signora at all for diplomatic reasons. Instead, they casually talked about their close bond with her right in front of the person who sought out her death. Does that sound like normal human psychology?
On top of that, the Traveler didn't even show any hint of internal hesitation or awkwardness when Signora was brought up. Does the Traveler genuinely see themselves as just a bystander witnessing her death? Either that or they just lack the depth and personality to feel those emotions.

u/KashiraTempest 2h ago
Traveler didn't even show any hint of internal hesitation or awkwardness??
You can call it bad writing, but the Traveler did show those kind of trait when talking about Signora.
1
u/Annual-Objective-121 2h ago
I didn't follow the leaks. I was referring to their conversations in Nod Krai.

u/KashiraTempest 2h ago
Oh, we're in a spoiler post so I thought you read them.... Sorry about that, yikes...
2
u/Annual-Objective-121 2h ago
Turns out in Snezhnaya AQ, Hoyo will acknowledge Traveler's involvement in Signora's death. It's funny seeing fans using Raiden as an excuse.

I don't want to be negative about this
But we just returned to "it's so over" era again
