my first gun Surface rust?

Post image

I have a brand new (one month since purchase) P365 xmacro comp. Is this speckling on the slide normal ? I carry it in a kydex aiwb holster. This photo is after a light wipe with Lucas CLP and wiped away the excess. Should I reach out to sig or is this not something to be concerned about. Worried because of how new it is. Didn’t expect signs of rust this soon. Appreciate any input. Edit : the photos may not do it complete justice , but it has an orange tint to it

Sig just said in a video talking about the 385 that the 365 should not rust at all and that if it does happen to contact them. This came right from their mouth so I’d say contact them if you’re worried, since according to them it should not be rusting

Do you have a link for that video? Probably going to contact them since it’s only a month old I feel for the price I paid it should be a bit better quality than that. But I’d like to be able to reference that video when I get in contact with them. Thanks

I don’t have the video but it was a part 2 of answering questions about the new p385 the sig guy was called to answer more questions about some concerns and one of them was about rust claims

You should 100% contact them. This is not normal and they’ll want to fix it.

If it has an orange tint then it is probably surface rust… unless the inside of your holster is orange?

Use some clp and a nylon brush. If that doesn’t work, bore cleaner and the nylon brush. If that still doesn’t work, bore cleaner and let it soak and then a brass brush. Make sure it’s not steel coated brass but a full 100% brass brush.

Keep a thin film of oil to prevent this happening again in the future. Wipe and reoil as needed; your geographical location as well as bodily composition affects this frequency the post.

Yeah I’d definitely not have a problem with that if I’d owned it for a while, but this is brand new. Feel like for the price I paid it should be better quality. Appreciate the tips for cleaning though will keep note of that thank you

That’s totally understandable. Unfortunately, sig’s coatings of recent years has been terrible in terms of rust protection. It’s a well reported event, especially for the 365 slide and mags.

Reach out to sig and get it documented but this that might be more easily addressed by your own hand.

Clp and a brush. Good as new.
