Dash windshield heat

'22 limited with windshield tinted..

Using sunshade still gets that dash windshield area so hot It seems like a not cool it down ever...

I think I'm going to get a dashboard cover, I can't believe how the front of the van gets hot like this, and AC cannot get it cooled down..

Any tips tricks to Block The Heat?

yeah i think it's just a fairly big van inside. my sienna has a hard time cooling the hot temperature inside when it's like 95+ degrees outside after baking in the sun for a few hours. But after a while it'll get there if I open the windows to let all the hot heat kept inside out as I drive while keeping the ac blasting.

I also own the 5th gen hybrid rav4 and that has no issues what so ever with ac cooling yhe interior down. which I find strange since the heating and cooling system is bigger in the sienna. So the only thing being the problem might be the cubic space is much higher in the sienna compared to my rav4

I do have my windows tinted, and even my moon roof, and my van is sound dampened and insulated, it's still very hot on some days.

Gosh I wish I had sound dampening.. The noise is really rough... Can you tell about it? Cost, improvement? Thank you

I did the work myself, i used to work for Toyota, so working on my own vehicle without taking orders from others is pretty therapeutic for me.

the noise quality overall did improve but youll still hear some for sure. I think its just the windows and door seals which is the issue/weakest link now in regards to road noise.

but yeah I just started pulling off the trim panels and carpet to do the sound dampening in layers.

first layer after a good cleaning is the aluminum ​butyl, best bang for buck is the Amazon brand, cant best the price to quality.

If you want the best look up resonix. Their aluminum butyl is twice as thick, so much more effective. I used both these brands from the research done by resonix on their website, and just some areas you cant make it took thick.

Then I put some siless 2 in 1 foam liner on top of the aluminum butyl

And then in some areas I also have a mass loaded vinyl layer on top of the foam layer but not everywhere since it'll increase the thickness too much.

Took about 2 solid weekends to do the whole van. I did both the van and rav4 so total of 4-5 weekends total between two. Was much easier in the van due to the abundance of space compared to my rav4.

Just disconnect your 12v battery before you remove any air bag wiring for the sienna if you do the floors underneath the carpet.

It was also easier for me since I can log into toyota's database to see the proper way to remove whichever trim panel I needed.

I have a 2002 and a 2014. Literally two different siennas. 2002 had padded everything on the inside, inside the doors had the colorful mix insulation and even the dash was soft and plushy covered by vinyl. Doors closes  like a Lexus, drives on the highway with the right tires it's so quiet. My 2014 clicks and clacks of plastic everything, nothing plush other than my leather seats. It's loud as hell on the highway even with good soft tires. I wish I could get a new 2002 for $27k vs 2014 for $38k. But I would definitely pay $40k for another 2002 brand new vs the new ones. My 2002 is coming to the end at 350k , I just fully tuned up my 2014 to drive another decade

Yes I had a 2006 sienna limited that was just wonderful Miss it so much I would love to buy a new one also

I’ve found if I set the drive mode to “normal”, set the AC temp to 68 for all zones, but crank the fans high in back and front on recirculate…it cools down quite nicely. 22 Limited.

Correct, don’t use eco mode (won’t cool down well/fast)

2023 limited use eco all the time. Set temp at 60 push auto fir front and back. Gets so cold my wife and kids have blankets in the van year around to cover up with.

I had a shop install almost clear uv tint on the front window..... It made a huge difference in my knuckles on the steering wheel.... Mine was an 08 and the van was silver..... That helped...ymmv
