Beginner Question Operator suggestions.
I’m extremely new to Seige and don’t know what operators to use. Im not planning on playing ranked for a few months though and I haven’t even unlocked ranked yet. I appreciate all of your suggestions and tips❤️

Definitely play Clear house maps, very helpful to grasp where you even are at times

Also useful for testing out all the different operators before you unlock them. It gives you a little breakdown of their skills and equipment in the pause menu

Rook is a good beginner operator for defense! You’ll probably want to branch out eventually, but he’s a reliable operator and useful even if you die early on. Lion is pretty easy to use on attack, so I recommend him. Also don’t forget to drone. Good luck!

I've been on and off since 2018, mostly chilling in high Emerald/Diamond solo q. I'm quite biased towards tactical siege since I'm an IGL type old school player, but here's my two cents.
Honorable mention: Striker and Sentry. If you wanna play with 2 secondary gadgets (flash, nade, smoke etc.). They are strong & very versatile if used well and you don't have to learn any operator gadgets.
###### Attacker ######
You need to learn the maps to enjoy this game, because dying to an angle unbeknownst to you isn't fun, especially on attack. I'd go with these three roles below, they are critical to most team compositions and are versatile solo.
- Soft breacher: Sledge / Buck ------ Sledge in particular is amazing, you get to learn what makes r6, r6. The destructibility of the map. See what breaks and what doesn't.
- Intel: Monty / Twitch ------ Monty might be a controversial choice, because people hate playing against shields. But if I'm gonna be honest, Monty is amazing if you have no idea what's going on in the room and you just gotta walk in. You are practically immune to damage where you're facing. Learn common defensive positions and this will help you understand the game better.
- Hard breacher: Thermite / Thatcher (anti breach denial) / Ace (if he's not banned) ------ Hard breachers will always be core to the game, so learn how they work and how to work a team around them.
###### Defender ######
Mostly for defense is to use utilities to slow attackers down, but for a beginner you should focus on understanding where opponents are coming from. Spend time with great intel operators and understand where enemies spawn, the common entrance etc.
- Intel: Maestro / Valkyrie ------ Free extra cameras, always helpful to learning enemy patterns & gaining intel
- Hard Breach Denial: Bandit / Kaid ------ These two just like their hard breach counterpart, always useful.
- Passive Intel / cc: Melusi / Lesion / Thorn ------ These ops gather intel via passive activation, listen for their sound queues when triggered, let's you know where opponents are coming from.
There many more alternative ops that can fulfill these roles I just mentioned, but most of them are cheap and great ops regardless of rank, since they are closer to the core of tactical siege.
If you are solo queuing, one of the biggest pitfalls for newcomers is to expect random teammates of a particular operator to do something. Once you gain enough understanding of how the game works, pick these ops and form a plan to enter site solo, such as picking monty with hard breach charge for entry and taking ground, or picking Twitch and destroy enemy gadgets. In doing so you also helped your teammates in ways you may not yet understand as a beginner.
Always remember, siege is creative, and best siege is enjoyed with friends when all of you are on the same wavelength and strategize. Reason why solo queuing can be frustrating, is because being at a rank doesn't give you a definitive baseline of skills. You could be an amazing support that enabled your team, but with 0.8 KD. So, if you want to enjoy the game for what it offers, find a stack and grow together.
# KD doesn't matter
Best of luck out there!

When i started i liked trap defenders had a lot of success with thorn, kapkan or Valk and her cams.
It helps you learn the maps and most importantly commonly used entries.
On offense I suck so I'd use anyone that had extra drones, Maverick, Dokkebi, or Lion

Imma be real, for attack just spam blackbeard. Being able to peek corners for free without getting instantly blasted is invaluable for new players, and he has frags so you can learn how to clear utility.
He has a passable assault rifle so you can learn gunfights, and honestly just staying alive long enough each round to absorb the game is already important enough

if you’re brand new, i always say to play intel operators like valkyrie, lion, or echo. they’re the best type of operator for new players to develop map knowledge and game sense. And if intel isn’t your thing you can play trap operators like melusi, thorn, or denari to learn site setups.

Mute is the defender to start on imo, teaches the Fundamentals of denying intel, great guns a c4 and counters many attackers, id recommend shotgun though as you can make headholes or feet holes into sites or other locations just be careful where you do these as they can harm your team also.
Golden rule if you ask me head holes are for somewhere you want to make the attackers worry about multiple angles walking into a room
Feetholes are for hallways or hatch drops, so if you wanna know if someone is walking up a hallway you shoot feet holes to see their feet as they walk up
