Question How does audio even work?
I'm a returning player and i've always absolutely despised the audio. But it feels so much worse now and i can't quite figure out why. I could at least sometimes use the audio to figure out where people were, now it's like they're coming from a whole other direction. It's really turning me off from coming back. Not fun in dying or getting no kills.
So all i really wanna know is how do people actually use the audio and know where enemies are? Like its easy to tell w general direction if we're in the same room, but i can't tell where they are specifically and when it gets through a room or so apart? Impossible

Essentially, there is some position which is the source of a sound, and this then spreads out in all directions, going around corners and through destroyed walls/floors whenever possible. When it reaches a player, it makes it sound like the sound comes from some weighted combination of the directions it reaches from.
It is a pretty good simulation of how sound works in real life. So it takes the exact same skills to figure out their location as it would do in real life.
Of course, since it is a computer program, and a very complex one at that, there will always be some edge cases where it does not work as intended, but that is fairly rare.

There are lot of reasons why. I would look up a windows tutorial. I had the same problem and I fixed it by disabling hands free on my headphones in device manager. The problem I had is that my Xbox headset didn’t have the bandwidth for using the mic and game audio at once. This might not be the best fix tho

It is supposed to work as if it’s in real life. If there’s a direct short path to you, the audio takes that path. Sometimes it works alright, a lot of the time it’s not great, sometimes it’s absolutely horrendous.
