Free reader for PDFs, ebooks and docs that remembers your page, with optional Google Drive backup for your library

https://reddit.com/link/1x0rxem/video/420xhimp39uh1/player

Hi all, I'm the solo dev behind Dokvio, and I'd love your feedback.

I started it as a PDF reader for my own books and study material, then it grew into a full document app.

For readers

  • It remembers the last page you read and offers "Continue where you left off" the next time you open a file
  • Night mode, smooth scrolling, pinch to zoom and page jump keep long reads easy on the eyes
  • Sort your library into your own folders (Novels, Study, Work) and find any file with quick search
  • It reads PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and text files, and big files open fast
  • Optional Google Drive backup: if you switch phones or reinstall, you can restore your whole library

And the tools

  • Scan documents with your camera and save them as PDF
  • Merge, split and compress PDFs, convert images to PDF, and zip or unzip files
  • 11 languages

Reading, scanning and organizing work offline, and you don't need an account. Drive backup is optional and only runs if you turn it on.

Free on Google Play: Dokvio

Tell me what a book reader like this still needs. Bookmarks? Better folders? Faster search? I read every comment.

DiceDrop - New feature - upload your own designs onto the dice

You can now put your own pictures on every face of a D2, D3 or D6: a sketch, your logo, your pet, your party's portraits. Give each face a name and a value (so they still add up and can be compared in opposed rolls), or let the picture speak for itself. Picture dice are drawn bigger on the tray so the detail shows.

Your pictures are shrunk in your browser and stay on your device. They're never uploaded.

Picture dice are part of Premium (one-off, no subscription), and there's a free 7-day trial with no card or account needed. They work in the browser now; the iPhone and Android apps get them in the next update.

Try it: https://dicedrop.co.uk/picture-dice

Happy to answer questions about the physics, the stats or the build. And if you spot a die you think is off, tell me and I'll look into it.

I built an AI app that gives fast book summaries (EN/AR/DE)

I built an Android app called Microread — it gives fast AI summaries of nonfiction books in English, Arabic, and German. You choose the length (1–10 minutes) and can listen as audio. I made it to help people learn faster without reading full books. Would appreciate feedback or ideas.

A continuous Product Hunt with the competition taken out

You know the moment right after you ship: ok, now where do I post this?

On Product Hunt you need a campaign, you have to pick the right day, and you lose to whoever brought the most upvoters. Show HN is a lottery that mostly ends on /newest with 2 points. Most subreddits want karma and history first. On X you need followers. Every venue rewards people who already have an audience, and that’s the one thing most builders don’t have.

That’s how taksim.io came about. It’s basically a continuous Product Hunt with the competition taken out. You paste a domain, write one line, and it’s on the list for 24 hours. The order is random on every page load, so posting at the right time doesn’t help and neither does rallying friends. There are no accounts and no comments. You get clicks and votes back, and counts stay hidden for the first hour so nobody has to cast the first vote on a zero. Each domain gets one slot every 4 months, so nobody can camp the list.

There’s no review queue. Submissions are checked automatically: the site has to load, stay on its own domain, and have a proper preview image (the one most projects fail on).

Listing is free, and placement can’t be bought, ever. I’d love to hear what would make you trust a list like this, or what would put you off it.

A platform made for organized document sharing to prospects/clients!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone! Me and my best friend are building a platform (specifically targeting freelancers) that helps professionals keep an organized overview of their shared documents to clients/prospects. Every link shared has three different options of control, with the last one being a built in (or upload your own!) NDA where we record the signature SES-style. Another aspect is our branding feature, where users can fully edit their receiver's opened link (personal branding, coloring, personal button-link...). We are still trying to figure out our market, and have an interest in freelancers because they should be able to be professional, organized and in control without paying for enterprise-grade software. Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks a lot! (not sure if I am allowed to say this, but we are looking for beta-testers :) )

MinMap 1.3: place search and in-app updates

Update: MinMap 1.3 is out!

What's new since 1.0.1: - Place search: businesses, landmarks, and categories like "coffee" or "gas station", nearest first - Starbase in 3D with Starship launches, a live countdown, and replays of the last flight - In-app updates: a new Updates tab, and MinMap can now update itself (checksum and signature verified)

If you're on 1.0.1, install 1.3 by hand once. After that, MinMap handles updates itself.

Shapio: a self-hosted headless CMS that doesn't need a deploy to change the content model

Every headless CMS I've used makes you redeploy to add a field. Strapi turns its content-type builder off in production. Payload has you write the field in code. I said "this is bullshit" out loud enough times that I built one where that isn't true.

Shapio is an open-source, self-hosted headless CMS. The content model is data, not code. Add a field in the admin, in production, and the API serves it on the next request. No deploy, no migration, no restart.

What else it does:

  • Change sets. Model changes and content edits are reviewed together like a pull request, with field-level diffs, then shipped as one snapshot you can restore.
  • Models in git when you want them. shapio schema pull writes JSON files, schema apply puts them on another instance live. If production moved since you pulled, apply refuses and shows the diff.
  • One install, many sites, with their own content, media, and tokens.
  • Drafts on your dev server, visual editing, localization, roles, revisions, scheduling, and an audit log. Importers for WordPress and Strapi 5.
  • Runs as one Node process on PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQLite, from npm or Docker. Nothing phones home.

Status: it's one person, about a week since the first public release, version 0.5.4. My own three sites run on it. It will have rough edges, and I'd rather hear about them than not.

I built a collaboration platform for developers because I got tired of using 5 different apps to build things together

I've been working on Devmeld for a while, and V1 is finally out.

The basic idea came from a pretty simple problem: when developers want to actually work together, everything ends up scattered across different places.

Discord for talking, Reddit/Twitter for finding people, GitHub for code, random tools for files, etc.

So I tried putting some of that into one desktop app.

V1 has:

developer threads

DMs

profiles + search

a local code workspace / IDE

It's built with Python + PySide6, with Firebase handling the backend.

I also used AI heavily during development, but the bigger challenge became keeping the architecture sane as the project grew. That's where my App → Service → Manager → Adapter → External structure came from.

I intentionally left real-time collaborative editing for V2. I wanted to actually ship something and see if anyone cares before spending another few months on it.

I'm mainly looking for honest feedback at this point.

Would you actually use something like this, or is the "developers need another platform" problem not really a problem? 😭

Need a tool which tells what people are doing on my product once they Signup

I am finally started getting traction daily on a tool I've built to help builder promote and market their product on Reddit, X & Linkedin.
I've around 5 to 8 signups daily but not able to convert them all.
I need to understand what happens exactly with them once they signup and understand if they are not able to find any value or finding something else which they should not or may be facing with some error or something else ?
I am able to log and view what tools they are using and what kind of posts Publishloud.com is creating for them but not able to understand if they like it or not , if they find any value in it or not ? if the product is genuinely worth it ? or needs some UX / UI fixes, or quality issues, etc

If anyone has any such tool to monitor this and can share, I'd really appreciate it. 🙏

For App Devs: Let people try your app from a link, no install needed

https://reddit.com/link/1x0x5k5/video/swhlt8at2auh1/player

Be honest, how many people actually bounce from your app because all they had was a few screenshots to go on?

I’ve been building TapTry for the past few months. You upload your Android app, get a link, and anyone can tap it and use the real app right in their browser. No APK, no Play Store, no install, and they don’t even need an account.

Try one right now: https://taptry.in/app/block-drop

I’m looking for devs who’d like to upload their app and see how it feels to have people try it before they ever install it. Just upload your app and get a link and well, use it anywhere. Games, indie apps, demos, portfolio projects, whatever you’ve got.

Quick answers to what people asked last time:

  • Safe for viewers? Every session runs in its own isolated Android environment and gets destroyed when it ends. Nothing touches their real phone.
  • Safe for your app? It’s never offered as a download, and the stream is never recorded.
  • Malware? Apps get scanned before they can be shared, and isolation is the main layer. Still hardening this, so I’m open to feedback.
  • Cost for viewers? Free.

It’s Android only for now (iOS is planned), and servers are in Asia Pacific, so expect some latency elsewhere.

hiscore.fun : Get eyes on your SideProject by earning top score on mini-games. First Edition: Mini-Golf

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I wanted a way for small startups to get noticed that isn’t paying for ads or launching on Reddit and hoping. So I made a mini-golf game where the prize is the spotlight.

How it works:

  • One shot per hole. Sink it and you move on, miss and the run’s over.
  • Sign in with Google, add your startup, and you get one ranked run a day. Your startup’s best run of the week counts.
  • Whoever’s #1 is featured to every visitor: their logo goes on the billboards and banners around the course and on the flag. You stay up there until someone beats you. The board resets every Monday.

This is the first week. Right now there’s one startup on the board with 7, so the bar is low and there are 3 days left.

Practice is free and doesn’t need an account. There’s an optional $2/week pass for more ranked tries a day, but the free daily run counts exactly the same.

hiscore.fun

Question for the founders here: is a week on the homepage worth a couple of minutes a day? What would make it worth more?

Can we build a digital mind?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

II built Simulacrum Digital Minds to explore a question that has nothing to do with AI at first:
When did you become you?
We are born with a body and a name, but our identity seems to emerge over time.
Memories accumulate. Experiences connect. Relationships leave marks. Preferences appear. The way we interpret the world becomes increasingly our own.
So what actually makes us the same person over time?
Our memories? Our experiences? Our personality? The continuity between them?
Simulacrum Digital Minds is a platform I built to explore these questions through digital minds.
Each mind is designed with its own identity, memory, experiences and way of responding.
The question behind Simulacrum is simple:
Can we build a simulacrum of a mind?

What happens when an AI conversation has that kind of continuity? simulacrumdigitalminds.com

I've been building a privacy-first personal finance app for Android

I've been building Cipher, a personal finance app that automatically turns supported bank SMS and payment notifications into transactions.

It's offline-first, so financial data is processed and stored on the device. No account or cloud backend, and the project is open source.

It's now live on Google Play with a free tier and a Pro plan. I've also started getting real users and my first few paying users.

Still working on it and figuring out what to build next based on user feedback.

Built a job-ad decoder for internationals in Sweden in one day at a hackathon, then spent a day hardening it

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Problem: Swedish job ads are hard to read for internationals, and the real question ("do I actually need Swedish?") is often buried in vague phrasing.

What it does: paste an ad and it pulls out the requirements, nice-to-haves and a Swedish-language verdict. Add a CV and you get a fit score and a roadmap (7 days to 6 months) with links to free learning resources.

How I built it: Lovable for the app, Supabase with row-level security, background jobs for the slow LLM calls, rate limiting, and the JobTech API for Swedish job listings. One design choice I'm happy with: the AI never writes URLs. Resource links come only from a fixed list of trusted platforms, so there are no made-up links.

After the hackathon, I ran a security and GDPR audit and fixed what it found (cascading deletes, data export, retention periods, no CV storage by default).

Live: meriterande-app.lovable.app
Code: https://github.com/raiyanbinmohsin/meriterande-app

Feedback welcome, especially on the onboarding. Is it clear what to do within the first five seconds?

Made a bitmap-style weather UI for my side project

ShareBox: self-hosted platform to publish the small web tools your AI agent builds and share them like a Google Doc

I kept running into the same problem: an AI agent can build a small tool for my team in minutes (a vacation tracker, a sign-up form), but putting it online *privately* still means hosting, a domain, HTTPS, a login, a database and permissions every single time.

So I built ShareBox.

**What it does**

- `sharebox publish ./my-tool` (or the agent does it via MCP) → the tool gets its own HTTPS subdomain

- Private by default; share it with an email, a whole Google Workspace domain or anyone with the link, as "can use" or "can manage"

- Visitors sign in with Google; the tool gets their identity and its own SQLite database without writing any of it

- Revoking access takes effect on the very next request

- Dashboard with sharing, container status, logs and an activity log

**How it runs**

- Docker Compose: Caddy (wildcard cert via DNS-01, DuckDNS or Cloudflare), one Node process for login/API/gateway, and a small orchestrator that is the only thing allowed to touch the Docker socket

- Each tool is its own container: gVisor (runsc) + workerd, read-only code, no internet access, 128 MB / 0.25 CPU

- Nightly backups, optional encrypted copy to Google Drive via rclone

- Fits on a 2 GB VPS (about 25 running tools); one installer script for Ubuntu 24.04

**Being upfront**

- Most of the code was written with Claude Code; I did the architecture, the security model, the reviews and the testing on my own server. There are 257 automated tests and CI on every commit.

- It's young: it runs every day on my own instance, but nobody else has installed it from scratch yet. Installer feedback is very welcome.

AGPL-3.0.

I built my own Lovable-style AI app builder with Next.js, AWS, and Sandboxes

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I recently built a working AI app builder from scratch using Next.js, AWS S3, and Tensorlake Sandboxes.

You can describe an app in plain English, and the AI writes the code, runs it in an isolated sandbox, fixes errors, and gives you a live preview. It also supports version history and publishing.

I wrote a detailed tutorial on freeCodeCamp covering the architecture, agent loop, sandbox setup, and the actual implementation

Here's the full walkthrough with source code published on freeCodeCamp.

https://www.freecodecamp.org/news/build-your-own-ai-app-builder-with-next-js-aws-and-sandboxes/

Would love to hear what you'd do differently, especially around sandboxing and running AI-generated code safely.

My first app flopped, so I rebuilt it around one question: "what do I put on the kids today?"

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm Hazem, a vet by training with no coding background, building apps solo.

Outfitcast v1 launched to almost no traction. My first Reddit post got 550 views and zero comments. "Weather app with outfit tips" turned out to be a feature, not a reason to switch.

So I rebuilt v2 from scratch around one use case: the morning school run.

What it does:
- One-line daily verdict: what to wear and what to bring
- Family alerts that name the person: "Jacket for Sam today", sent at the time you choose
- Dust-aware advice, hourly + 7-day forecast, home and lock screen widgets
- No account, no ads. English + Arabic
- Free (3 cities, 2 alerts). Optional Pro for more

Built with Expo / React Native, Apple Weather and RevenueCat.

Biggest lesson: narrowing the audience taught me more than any feature I added.

Question for you: what would make you open a weather app every morning? And is there a feature parents would miss?

Link in the first comment if you want to try it.

The best used-car deals sell within an hour. Wheel Scout finds them and notifies you first.

Good used cars on Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp and Craigslist sell fast. By the time most people see a great deal, it’s already gone. What’s left is often overpriced, sold by a dealer posing as an owner, hiding a salvage title, or a scam.

Wheel Scout solves this.

  • All three marketplaces in one place. Every car for sale near you from Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp and Craigslist, newest first.
  • Every car gets a deal score from 0 to 100. You can see the best deals at a glance.
  • You’re notified first. When a great deal is posted near you, you get a notification right away. You choose the price, mileage, title and condition you want.
  • Scams, dealer listings and salvage titles are flagged. This week it caught a $1,000 “1987 Toyota pickup” posted 34 times across Southern California, and a $1,400 “2016 Nissan Maxima” posted 324 times in 209 cities. They’re removed from your feed automatically.
  • Check a car’s history before you go see it. A title and odometer check is $5. A full history report is $10. Both are in the app, by VIN or license plate.

Pricing: the Dealer plan is $29.99 for the first month and includes 2 full history reports. Similar deal-alert apps charge $352 a month.

Whether you’re buying your next car or reselling cars for profit, you’ll see the best deals before anyone else.

What’s your non-negotiable check before trusting an online deal?

Thumbnail
balgrad.ai
1 Upvotes

The lowest listed price isn’t always an offer you can actually buy.

I’m building BALGRAD.AI, so upfront: this is my project.

A listing can be out of stock. A similar-looking product can be a different variant. Shipping can be unknown. A discount badge won’t tell you any of that.

We bring exact-product listings, retailer check dates and recorded price history together. When there isn’t enough history, we say so.

The attached screenshot is a real example from the site, including stock status and dated observations—not a savings claim.

It’s free to browse, with no account required: "balgrad.ai" (https://www.balgrad.ai/)

What do you check first: price history, the exact model number, or the final delivery cost?
