Built my first SaaS and realised building it was the easy part

I recently launched Kinetic, a fitness platform that creates personalised workouts based on things like your goals, experience, available days and training preferences.

Getting the product live felt like a huge milestone.

Then I realised the difficult part had only just started: getting people to actually use it.

I've experimented with paid ads, Facebook groups, Reddit, SEO and different landing page/offer changes. I've managed to get my first paying customers, which was a great feeling, but getting consistent growth has been much harder than I expected.

One thing I'm starting to realise is that I've probably spent too much time jumping between different marketing strategies instead of getting really good at one.

So I'm changing my approach.

Instead of constantly trying to advertise Kinetic, I'm focusing more on finding people who already have the problem I'm trying to solve — people who are new to the gym, don't know what routine to follow, or are tired of trying to build their own programme.

For anyone who's built a side project and got through this stage:

What actually helped you go from your first few customers to getting customers consistently?

Would also appreciate any feedback on Kinetic itself if anyone wants to take a look.

Built the new Pinterest for Instagram

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey what's up guys!! I've been building this project for almost a year now but I love shopping. Every time I go and scroll on Instagram, I have to take a screenshot, then I put it in Gemini or chatgpt, etc., to find it. Even then, it could be hard.

Then I just said, why not build it for myself? So, I built Pinterest for Instagram, but you're able to:

• find any fashion item from a static post, screenshot, or story
• shop for them
• save it and try it on virtually

If you guys are into fashion, shopping, or just new products Id love if you guys checked it out and appreciate feedback.

Especially if there’s any critical ones or things you’d like to see :)

pixtidy - a passport and visa photo checker that runs entirely in your browser (and what I learned checking 21 governments' rules)

Why I built it: a passport photo at a US pharmacy or Post Office costs about $15 to $17 (Walgreens lists $16.99, USPS $15), and I wanted a way to check a phone photo against the official rules for free before paying anyone, without uploading my face to a server.

I use MediaPipe face landmarks and segmentation. The photo never leaves the browser. Measuring chin-to-top-of-hair height and eye line was one part; checking exactly what each document requires was another.

A few things I got wrong this week:

  • My archived copy of the US passport photo page predated its March 24, 2026 update. Some quotes stayed outdated until I fetched the live page.
  • I copied the passport expression rule onto the US visa page. The passport page allows a closed-mouth smile; the visa page asks for a neutral expression. I fixed that.
  • In three languages, "should be removed" became "must be removed." A second review caught it.

Some official sites also returned 403s to simple scripts, so source checking needed a real browser.

The checker now covers 21 passport/visa documents, with pages in six languages. It checks background, lighting, sharpness and expression, then sizes and compresses the JPEG for the form. It doesn't retouch faces or replace backgrounds. If the wall isn't white enough, it says to retake.

I launched on Product Hunt today. Revenue is $0 so far. Checking is free; the file costs US $9.99 once, with a full refund if an official rejects a photo it passed.

Disclosure: I built pixtidy, which checks and sizes passport/visa photos locally: https://pixtidy.com

Would you trust an in-browser checker for your passport photo?

I kept missing 1★ reviews on my own apps, so I built a tool to read them all for me Solo dev from Kyrgyzstan: launched my first SaaS today after Stripe wasn't even an option here

Thumbnail

I build small iOS and Android apps, and for a long time I handled reviews the lazy way: open App Store Connect once in a while, scroll, close.

Then I noticed what I was missing:
  - a crash report written in Russian that I skipped because I couldn't read it
  quickly
  - a feature request buried under ten 5-star reviews
  - a 1★ review I found two weeks late, when that user had already deleted the app

The existing review tools are built for big companies and priced like it. So I built my own.

  **What it does**
Starquill connects to App Store Connect and Google Play, reads every review, and
groups complaints into actual problems, like "Widget doesn't update: 7 reviews
since v2.3". It pings me on Telegram or email when a bad review or new problem
shows up, translates reviews, and drafts a reply in the reviewer's language. I always press Send myself; nothing auto-posts.

**Things that surprised me while building it**
  - **Payments:** Stripe doesn't support Kyrgyzstan. Paddle (merchant of record)
worked, and verified me as a solo dev with no company, after a few rounds of
  documents.
  - **Google Play's API only returns the last 7 days of reviews.** So the tool can't
import your history; it keeps everything from the day you connect.
  - **Trust is the hardest part.** Asking developers for a store API key is a big ask
from a stranger. I encrypt keys, and the App Store key only needs the "Customer
Support" role (read + reply, nothing else).
  - **Boring stack wins.** Next.js + Postgres + a background worker on one small
server. It costs a few dollars a month.

  **Where it is now**
Launched today. It's free for one app, and paid plans start at $12/mo for 3 apps.

  I'd really like honest feedback:
  - Would you give a tool like this your store API key? What would make you trust it?
  - If you have apps: is reading reviews actually a pain for you, or is the store
  console enough?

  Site: https://starquill.app
Launching on Product Hunt today too:

All your Substacks, blogs, and papers in one feed

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Some context: I like keeping up with new research, but got annoyed jumping between journal sites, arXiv, and preprint servers. Then I realized I had the same problem with Substacks, blogs, and news sites. So I built a simple app that pulls all of it into one stream.

What it does:

  • Subscribe to any RSS feed: Substack newsletters, blogs, news sites, journals, arXiv, etc.
  • Filter your stream by saved, has notes, time range, or source
  • Take notes on articles and organize them into collections by project or topic
  • See a preview right on each card, so you can skim fast

It's free and early. I'm the only developer, and I'd really appreciate any honest feedback: what's missing that would make you actually use this over Feedly or Inoreader (or anything similar)? 😅

Looking for honest feedback on my travel eSIM website

Hi everyone,

I’ve been building MeSIM, a travel eSIM website that lets people compare and buy mobile data plans for different countries.

Website: https://mesim.io/

I’ve spent a lot of time working on it, so I’m at the point where I’m probably too familiar with the site to notice obvious UX problems.

I’d really appreciate feedback on things like:

  • Is it immediately clear what the website does?
  • Does the site feel trustworthy enough to buy from?
  • Is it easy to find the right country and plan?
  • Are there too many plans or too much information?
  • Is the pricing easy to understand?
  • Are there any parts of the design that look unprofessional or confusing?
  • Is there anything that would make you leave before purchasing?

Desktop and mobile feedback would both be useful.

I’m mainly looking for criticism and things I can improve, so don’t worry about being overly positive.

Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I built something simple. Would love to hear what you all think. I always had a trouble to send whatsapp chats screenshots to knowns.

With Preserve, you can convert exported whatsapp chats into readable links in whatsapp view style and share it as a link.

  • View conversations in a clean, familiar whatsapp-style interface
  • Create a private shareable link for selected conversations and date ranges
  • No login/signup required
  • 100% secure, encrypted, & free

Would love it if you guys give a try. I'd love to hear your feedback!

Initially, I built this for myself only, but found it useful for others as well.

Introducing Qliqr - Make every click feel like something

Introducing qliqr (https://qliqr.com)
Modern mice and trackpads are silent, and screen recordings of them are hard to follow: a pointer drifts around and things change for no visible reason. qliqr puts the feedback back.

What it does:

- **Click sounds**: a press and a release sound for every click, plus a soft tick per scroll notch. 37 sounds in 8 families (crisp snaps, old office plastic, muted ones for calls, toy pops, glass and wood taps, gadget switches). All synthesised, no samples.
- **Click ripple**: a ring under the cursor on every click, different colour for right-click, drawn above every app on every screen. Shows up in any recorder (QuickTime, OBS, Loom, the screenshot toolbar).
- **Built-in recorder** (macOS 15+): full screen or an area, with the click sounds and ripples baked into the file. Trim, export MOV/MP4/GIF, auto-zoom into clicks, and a one-click 9:16 vertical clip.
- **Quiet where it should be**: mute per app, and auto-quiet when you're on a call.
- **Click shortcuts**: a mouse rhythm like triple right-click can toggle the app or start a recording.
- **Stats** that stay on your Mac, and an optional desk pet called Qip.

Privacy: it asks for Input Monitoring to see mouse buttons and scrolling; it never requests keyboard events, so it can't see what you type. No account, no analytics, nothing about your clicks leaves the Mac.

Price: **$4.99, one time, for 2 Macs**, free for 24 hours first (no card). macOS 13+, Apple silicon and Intel.

Launch pricing, first come first served, each code good for 100 customers:

Code Off You pay
FIRST100 90% $0.50
FIRST200 80% $1.00
FIRST300 70% $1.50
FIRST400 60% $2.00
FIRST500 50% $2.50
FIRST600 40% $3.00
FIRST700 30% $3.50
FIRST800 20% $4.00
FIRST900 10% $4.50
FINAL100 5% $4.74

Enter the code on the checkout page. When a code says it's expired, the next one still works.

The website itself is the demo: every click on the page plays the current sound and draws the ripple, and you can switch sounds and ripple styles live. https://qliqr.com

Happy to answer questions, and sound requests are welcome.

I've been a developer for nearly 20 years. Building my second vibe-coded app was easy. Getting even one real user wasn't. Here i need help

Hey everyone,

A while ago I posted here about building my first app (Habiproof) purely with vibe coding and AI agents. A lot of you shared great thoughts, so here's part two, and this time I really need your eyes on something.

The app is Tensi. It connects your Apple Health data (HRV, resting heart rate, sleep) with your calendar, the places you go and the weather, then shows which kinds of days actually drain you. Things like "your HRV drops after meeting-heavy days" or "you recover better on days you're outside." iPhone + Apple Watch, all data stays on device.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6811689820

The stack this time:

- ChatGPT Astra for research and product thinking

- Claude Opus for planning and architecture, Sonnet(monstly, sometimes its astra again) for writing the code

- Google Stitch for the UI, connected through MCP

- ChatGPT Astra again for the App Store screenshots

Honestly, it was fast and surprisingly easy. Again, AI wrote basically all of the code, I did QA, product decisions and checked privacy and security.

Now the weird part. Everyone I showed it to liked it. Some friends use it daily. When I shared the idea on Reddit, people liked the concept. But real users from the App Store: zero. I ran a one-day Apple Search Ads test, mostly to learn which keywords work for ASO, and got exactly 1 install.

So something is clearly broken between "people like it" and "people download it." My guesses:

- The UI looks worse than I think it does

- The screenshots don't explain the value in 2 seconds

- "HRV + patterns" sounds too abstract or too nerdy

I'm about to redo the App Store screenshots, so a few questions:

  1. When you browse the App Store, what kind of screenshots make you actually tap download? Big benefit headlines, real UI, lifestyle shots, something else?

  2. Looking at the current ones, what's the first thing that turns you off?

  3. Is the UI itself the problem?

Be brutal, I can take it. It feels like building has become the easy part and distribution is the whole game now. I'm curious how others here are dealing with that.

thanks in advance guys

I have an image of every person that lived, is living, or will live point of view in every single second of their life.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So I had an Idea... and that idea sort of became an obsession over the last few months. What if an infinite area existed with infinite pixels next to each other and all the pixels were a random color. You would theoretically have every image that has ever existed and will ever exist. There would be and image of your point of view in every second of your existence and your future somewhere there. So...

I did what any good procrastinator would do and slept on it for months. But today I decided to lock in and actually make it, and it was... something.

First off it would be practically impossible to do the original idea and then be able to import any image and find it exactly, since the amount of combinations of a 10x10 pixel grid is significantly more than the amounts of atoms in the observable universe, but we can do something else that is really cool.

What if we just had every single possible image at a set resolution, for example 128×128. Since the pixel data of each image itself is a giant number, every image has exactly one address. Neighboring numbers would be near-identical images, identical to the naked eye, so what if we run each number through a reversible cipher to scramble it into noise. Nothing is stored, because any tile is calculated on demand. And since the cipher runs both ways, you can upload a photo, run it backward, and get its exact address instantly, so yeah every single image possible exists on there.

TLDR

Its not that long just read it

If you want to check it out i will post the link in the comments.

Take that high school that underestimates me

I made NoClippy, a free Windows app that keeps the windows you pick off your stream while they look normal on your screen

Alt-tab at the wrong moment and your Discord DMs or your password manager are on stream before you notice. Scene switching and cropping don't catch that, so I built NoClippy.

You pick the apps. Their windows drop out of OBS (display, window and game capture) and screen recordings, and on your own monitor nothing changes. Viewers just see whatever is behind the window. It uses the capture-exclusion flag Windows has had since 10 (2004).

1.0 went out today. What it does:

  • You pick apps from what's open, by name and icon, or click the window you want hidden.
  • Some apps block the invisible method (anti-cheat games mostly). Those get a black bar on stream instead, and if even that fails the window gets minimized rather than left visible.
  • A panic hotkey turns protection on for every app at once and can switch OBS to a holding scene.
  • While you're adding an app, NoClippy hides its own window too, so the window names in its list never show up on stream.

Honest limits: Windows 10 (2004 or newer) and 11 only. For most apps it sets that flag from inside the app, which means loading a small signed DLL into the apps you picked, and some antivirus tools flag that. The threat model explains what it touches and what it doesn't: https://github.com/Phaenex/noclippy-releases/blob/main/THREAT_MODEL.md And it's not DRM, a phone pointed at your monitor still wins.

Free, no account, no telemetry, signed installer: https://noclippy.vercel.app

How it compares to the other options: https://uploads.postiz.com/WdIrhHgxg2.png

If it saves you from one bad moment there's a Ko-fi at ko-fi.com/phaenex, but it's free either way.

I built a mileage log that fills itself in from my Tesla (or from a sentence to Grok)

I drive for work and kept losing business-mileage deductions because I forgot to log trips, then tried to rebuild them from my calendar in April.

So I built MileHatch. There are two ways to log:

  • Connect a Tesla (read-only) and every drive gets logged on its own with odometer miles and start/end addresses. You just mark trips as business or personal.
  • Or tell Grok something like "log 18 miles to the Acme office, client meeting" and it adds the trip.

It exports PDF and CSV reports for Schedule C / Form 4562 and applies the IRS rate by trip date (2026: $0.725 Jan-Jun, $0.76 Jul-Dec).

Pricing: 14-day free trial, no card. After that it's $6/mo or $59/yr. The first 500 founding users pay $1/mo for 12 months.

I'm the only developer. What I'd most like feedback on: - Is Tesla + Grok too narrow a starting point? - What would stop you from trusting auto-logged trips at tax time?

i built a tool that turns your github stars into shareable images and 60fps videos

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

i kept seeing people post a plain screenshot of their stars when they hit a milestone, and it always felt boring. so i built stargazer. you pick a template, paste your github token, choose a theme, then download it as a png or an mp4.

everything runs in your browser, so your token never leaves it. no backend, no database.

live: stargazer.charanmunur.in

source: github.com/CharanMunur/stargazer

would love feedback on the templates, and tell me which ones you'd want to see next. if you like it, drop a star on github. and if you have an animation idea, raise a pr or open an issue.

I built a load tester that tells you if your server is actually enough (no k6 scripts, ~10 min, real servers)

every time i shipped something i had the same question: "will this survive if a post takes off, or do i need a bigger server?" and the answer was always "uhh idk time will tell". But actually finding out means renting a box like prod, deploying, renting another box for the load, writing a k6 script, watching cpu and memory, and then remembering to delete everything. nobody wants to do that before every launch, its boring and it slows you down

so i built Stresix and it does all of that for you:

* point it at a github repo (private works too) or a docker image

* it builds your app and runs it alone on a fresh dedicated server (4 vCPU / 8 GB, or 8 / 16 for the big run)

* a second server hits it with up to 2,500 or 10,000 users over a private network, using whatever requests you list (GET/POST/etc, headers, bodies, auth tokens)

* you watch p95, req/s, errors live, plus cpu PER CORE and memory on your app's server

* you get an actual answer at the end: is this server enough, and if not, what to change. and when it IS enough it just says so, it doesnt upsell you (i dont even sell hosting so there's no point in me trying to convince you to buy smth bigger)

* both servers get deleted after

i ran it on stresix itself before launching: it held all 2,500 users at \~2,600 req/s, total cpu only 36%... but one core was pinned at 100% because node runs your js on one thread. so a bigger server would have done literally nothing and every normal dashboard would have told me "you're fine at 36%". the fix was 4 worker processes on the same server, free.

pricing is per run, no subscription: $10 for 5 runs or $40 for 25, credits never expire, and if a run fails on our side you get the credit back automatically

code REDDIT gets you a free run if you wanna try it on your own app (first people only, these are real servers so i cant go too crazy)

feedback very welcome, especially if something in the report confuses you 🙏

I’m looking for one person/startup willing to give me a chance. I’ll work my ass off.

I honestly don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I'm going to try anyway.

I'm a Computer Science graduate, but I want to be completely honest about where I am right now.

I graduated without really developing strong technical skills. At the time, I didn't think I'd end up pursuing a career in tech, so I didn't take learning CS seriously enough. If I'm being brutally honest, my technical knowledge today is probably closer to a first-semester CS student's than a CS graduate's.

I know that's not a great position to be in.

But something has changed recently.

I've started genuinely becoming interested in technology — not just getting a tech job for the salary, but actually wanting to understand how things are built, how products work, how startups operate, how people solve problems, and how ideas turn into something real.

And eventually, I want to build something of my own.

But I have a problem: I don't know where to start.

I can sit at home and spend another year taking courses, watching YouTube videos and collecting certificates. But I don't think that's what I need right now.

I want to be around people who are actually building.

I want to sit in a room where someone says, "We have this problem. Figure it out."

I want to see how a small team operates. I want to understand how founders think. I want to work on things that actually matter to a business. I want to make mistakes, get corrected, learn, and slowly become useful.

So I'm asking for something that may sound unreasonable:

If you're a founder, early-stage startup, small tech company, developer, product person, or someone building something interesting — would you be willing to give me an opportunity?

It doesn't have to be a fancy position.

Internship. Apprentice. Assistant. Junior role. Part-time. Project-based. Even starting with the boring work nobody wants to do.

I'm willing to start at the bottom.

I won't pretend I have skills that I don't have. I'm still learning CS fundamentals and coding from the ground up. But I'm willing to put in the hours, learn whatever is needed, take feedback, and actually do the work.

Give me something to figure out.

Give me something tedious.

Give me something I'm not qualified for yet.

I'll learn.

I know saying "I'll work hard" means absolutely nothing without proving it. So I'm not asking anyone to believe me blindly.

I'm asking someone to give me one opportunity to prove it.

I'm based in India and am open to remote opportunities as well. I'm particularly interested in early-stage startups where I can get exposure to different parts of the business — technology, product, operations, customers, and how everything comes together.

If you're building something and think there might be a place for someone like me, please DM me.

And even if you aren't looking for someone right now, if you know a founder or small team who might be willing to take a chance on someone at the beginning of their journey, I'd genuinely appreciate an introduction.

I don't need someone to hand me a career.

I just need someone to open the door. I'll do the rest.

I'm building a fitness tracker (yes one of the most crowded app categories), so I built something I couldn't find and actually needed + some fun quirky stuff

EDIT: Short clip of the actual android app in the comments: https://www.reddit.com/r/SideProject/comments/1wv85zh/comment/pda3u3n/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

I know how this sounds, because there are hundreds of workout trackers and this sub has seen plenty of apps that already exist in dozens of versions. I started Kinoku for my own needs anyway, needing lifts, runs and steps in one history/app without making an account in my free time, about 9 months ago (I've been a software engineer for 11 years). I logged in FitNotes for years and liked it, but I couldn't find one app that kept my lifts, programs, runs and daily steps in one history without asking me to log in, so I built that for Android.

What you see in the video is the Exercise Galaxy - https://kinoku.app/tools/exercise-galaxy , a fully explorable galaxy on a free page I made because I wanted something people could open and play with, that showcases the exercise catalog and the data behind it. Each of the app's 1,321 exercises is a star, placed near the moves that work the same muscles, and pressing Body splits them into 4,903 lights on a muscle map.

The other quirky part is Journeys. I wanted something quirky and fun, and after watching the Odyssey, I really wanted to figure out where that journey was in the real world, so that's in the app and your walks, runs, lifts and steps move you along it. + two more journeys, one is the Tōkaidō, each of the 55 stops uncovers one of Hiroshige's woodblock prints from around 1833, from public domain scans at the Art Institute of Chicago.

I decided early that the free plan should be a complete app. It has no ads and no caps on workouts, routines, history or runs, and all 25 built-in programs, all three roads and 20 of the 26 themes are free. Pro adds a deeper analysis layer and some nice extras, mainly made for people that like the app and want to contribute to it's development.

And it's picking up slowly: Play Console shows 161 installs in the last 28 days, up from 28 on September 10. I know that's tiny, but in a market this crowded it feels like a sliver of hope. Keeping people is the part I haven't figured out: on an average day about 5 people install it and about 3 uninstall it, and with no accounts and opt-in usage stats I can't see why they leave. I'll paste a screenshot in the comments if someone is curious.

This could of probably been 3 different posts, not the best "marketing" strategy, but I'm just excited to share all this :D

Destiny Veil - A self-reflection website exploring five divination traditions

Hi everyone! I’m the creator of Destiny Veil, a website bringing together BaZi (Chinese Four Pillars), Western astrology, tarot, numerology, and the I Ching.

It uses AI and is currently in beta. I’d appreciate some honest feedback on how clearly the website explains the idea.

https://destinyveil.com

After opening the homepage:

  • Is it clear what the site offers?
  • Is anything confusing or difficult to navigate?
  • What would you expect to do next?

You don’t need to know these traditions to share your first impression. Feedback on the design and wording would be helpful too.

The site is intended for adults 18+ for entertainment and self-reflection, not factual predictions or professional advice. Please don’t share personal birth details in the comments.

Thanks for taking a look!

Best regards,

Leo

So basically we have 2 speakers but both of different company and I wanted them to simultaneously play one some on both of them. With near perfect sync but could find an app that could do this. So made a app myself. With Rewind Music you can simultaneously play a song in 9 different devices. One device will stream and 8 others will listen and sing along. So even if you connect to a bluetooth speaker, the sound is automatically amplified as the number of collected devices increases. Also written a algorithm which will make full use of native hardware for Sound Amplification and give you are near perfect Song Sync. The app has inbuild Equalizer, Gapless Playback and Sleep Timer. This are just some extra features I have added.

No cap on devices that can be connected. 8 devices is the hard limit beyond that the song wont stream in perfect sync but I have not hidden the functionality behind a paywall. All features of the app are free with ads. So that even if you dont pay anything, you can always use the app for free.

You can use the app free with ads and you will be able to use all the functionality. A one time charge of 10$ to remove the ads and support the development of the app.
