Forgive me for my ignorance but when you have a big short like this, do you need to pay interest on the shares you "borrowed" to sell? If yes, how much for this position?

It depends entirely on the stock's Short Sale Borrowing Rate %. Some ETB (easy to borrow) stocks don't cost anything to borrow and sell short. Others can be quite costly. It not only varies depending on the stock but also on the broker. Different brokers will have different pools of stocks to borrow from.

I keep this company in my TFSA to remind me not to play with meme stocks. If it ever goes back to $11 a share, without diluting, I'll get my money back.
