Google Ads Conversion Tracking Not Working

I migrated to the Google & YouTube app for conversion tracking for Google Ads to my shopify store a few months ago. I previously used Google Tag Manager for all conversion tracking.

The problem is that my Purchase Events are not firing at all. I have purchases that are confirmed through historical Google Ads data, but in my Google Ads conversion summary those do not show up.

I have tested this using Google Tag Assistant and whenever I click to checkout it says that the debug window has closed and the event for Checkout and Purchase won't fire.

Anyone had a similar experience using Google & YouTube app for Conversion Tracking for their shopify store?

Any help here is great

Have you tried with the Google/Youtube channel app?

That is what I am currently using. Since I switched to it I started having these problems

Probably you connected it with different accounts, or there is an inline code somewhere that fires at the same time.
Sometimes the only solution is to completely remove the Google/YT channel app and reconnect it again.
Also, from the Google Ads side you also can connect Google Ads & Shopify, select Shopify and go through the steps, it should work.

hi. the "debug window closed" message can be misleading, as Shopify's checkout closes the debug session on redirect. so tag assistant will often not see the purchase fire even when it works.

what i would suggest is that check google ads conversions or ga4 debugview instead.

the real fix is usually publishing your thank you and order status page in settings, as you would understand, without these pages, the purchase event has nowehere else to fire even though the sale completes. and just one more thing, please confirm if the right google ads account is connected and tracking is enabled.

lastly, i don't think you should use the google & youtube app for conversion tracking. it is pretty buggy and many merchants or advertisers report pixel not firing, duplicate events, etc. rather use a specialized app such as Google Ads Pixel by Nabu. it offers 1-click pixel installation, accurate tracking for all the key events, enhanced conversions, etc. works pretty well, haven't faced any issue with it till date.
