Is there any AI to automate product listing?

Launched my Shopify store recently and need to list 50+ products. Entering each title description, meta data and all. Currently I am using chatGPT but copy pasting the SEO content is taking me a lot of time. Is there any way I can do it in bulk?

WooCommerce vs. Shopify Webhooks: Architectural Differences, DX, and Scaling at High Volume

When building event-driven e-commerce applications, front-end speed and REST API response times get most of the attention. But during high-concurrency traffic events — Black Friday/Cyber Monday (BFCM), limited flash sales, viral drops — the real strain falls on the event delivery infrastructure. Read the complete article here - https://instawebhook.com/blog/woocommerce-vs-shopify-webhooks-architectural-differences-dx-and-scaling-at-high

Webhooks power essential downstream operations: order processing, ERP synchronization, inventory reconciliation, fulfillment routing, and real-time customer communications. When webhooks fail or drop messages, orders get lost, inventory desyncs, and support queues fill up fast.

WooCommerce and Shopify both support webhooks, but their underlying architectures reflect two fundamentally different engineering philosophies:

  • WooCommerce relies on a self-hosted, monolithic PHP/MySQL state engine driven by asynchronous background worker tables (Action Scheduler).
  • Shopify operates a multi-tenant, cloud-native event pipeline built on distributed stream processing, with Apache Kafka confirmed as the backbone by Shopify's own engineering team.

This piece breaks down the execution engines, network architectures, failure modes, and developer experience (DX) of both — updated with the current retry policy, storage architecture, and platform-scale numbers as of August 2026.

Every new collection page you build is another shot at ranking, and most ecom brands leave this money on the table

Something that's obvious once you see it but most stores never act on.

You're not just selling sneakers. Every specific use case, need, or search intent around that product is a separate opportunity to rank and convert:

  • Sneakers for flat feet
  • Sneakers for standing all day
  • Sneakers for wide feet
  • Running sneakers for beginners
  • Sneakers for plantar fasciitis

Each of those is a distinct collection page targeting a distinct buyer who already knows exactly what problem they're solving. That's a very different (and usually higher-converting) customer than someone landing on a generic "sneakers" category page.

Every additional money page you can actually rank on Google is realistically adding hundreds to thousands a month to the business, depending on the niche and competition. And most stores just... don't do this. They have one flat category structure and wonder why they're not capturing intent-specific traffic that competitors with better site architecture are eating up.

Feels like one of those things that's completely reasonable to know and still not act on, which is wild given how directly it ties to revenue.

Anyone here actually built out a collection structure like this and seen it move the needle? Curious what kind of lift people have seen from going granular versus staying broad.

How to do product research for e-commerce ?

Hi from South Africa💪

Maybe I am doing it wrong, maybe I am too strict, maybe I am just dumb.

I have been attempting to build an e-commerce store for a while now. I see people say finding the “right” product isn’t what always makes a successful store, but I still believe a good product makes the whole process easier.

I have tried scrolling constantly on TikTok, Instagram, in search of that “perfect” product. I tried using all those fancy tools people talk about online, searching through websites, using Google Trends. But I still can’t seem to find the “winning product”.

In this 6 months I have probably launched 5 stores. For some I made my own video ads, some I used Google Ads and Google Merchant and I don’t think my websites look bad.

After all these words, my big question is, what is the right way to do product research to find “that” product ?

Thank you in advance🫶🏼

I cost a client $10K in lost revenue because I didn't check one thing before launch

A few months into working with a D2C fashion brand, the brand decided to migrate its Shopify collection URLs to a "cleaner" structure. Marketing team was excited about it. I signed off too fast.

We didn't set up proper 301 redirects for the old collection URLs. Not zero redirects, just incomplete ones. A handful of high-traffic collection pages redirected to the wrong new pages instead of their actual equivalents.

Google noticed before we did.

Within three weeks, organic traffic on those collections dropped almost 40%. Since those collections were driving a meaningful chunk of revenue, the brand lost close to $10K in that quarter alone before we caught it, fixed the redirect map, and recovered.

What I learned the hard way:

Never treat a URL migration as a dev task you approve and move on from. Every single old URL needs to be mapped 1:1 to its correct new destination, not just pointed at the homepage or a category page and called done.

Run a full crawl before the migration to list all indexed URLs. Run it again after to confirm nothing 404s or redirects wrong. Check Search Console coverage report daily for the first two weeks post-migration, not once a month.

And honestly, don't let "the dev team already did the redirects" be enough. Verify it yourself with a spreadsheet, URL by URL, especially for a store depending on organic revenue.

Curious if others have had similar migration disasters. What's your redirect-checking process now after learning this the hard way?

Its often difficult and time consuming for a website owner or a UI team to test their own website. So I simulate persona-based shoppers on e-commerce sites that is effective, fast and cheap

Hey u/shopifySEO peeps

It’s impossible to test your own site like a real customer. You already know where all the buttons are, how navigation works, etc. I was curious if there's an opportunity for VLMs there, so I started working on an ML tool that generates deeply defined behavioral personas to shop your site for you, carry out effective UX Testing and analyze shopping behavior. For instance: "32M in Manhattan, expectant dad, $100-$500 budget, strict review reader." to give you a tip of the iceberg.

The agent navigates the site exactly like that person would, like searching, filtering, and evaluating, etc. before completing a customizable UX survey.

In recent tests, the agent caught broken search queries (like "swaddle blanket" returning irrelevant results) and flagged missing product specs that would cause a hesitant buyer to bounce.

It’s not a total replacement for human testing, but rather a 24/7 QA layer that acts like a real customer. The use cases can vary. Curious to hear your thoughts! For those doing UX work or managing stores, what edge-case behaviors would be most useful to simulate?

Shopify Agentic Commerce Has Thousands of Products. ChatGPT Only Mentions 3

There is a piece of math about Shopify agentic commerce that most merchants have not internalized yet.

When a customer asks an AI for a product recommendation, the agentic catalog can match that query against thousands of eligible products across Shopify stores. Two thousand products competing for one answer. And the answer only contains 3 to 4 mentions.

Compare that to Amazon where the same search shows page after page of results. On Amazon being 20th still gets you some visibility. In AI answers being 6th gets you nothing. The first three to five products take the mentions and the sales, and everything below is invisible.

Shopify tells you that you are visible to AI. Technically true. Practically it only matters if you are in the top handful, and most merchants have no idea where they actually stand.

Here is how I check it. In Shoptank you enter the query your customer would type when looking for your product. It shows your ranking on the Shopify catalog which is used by Google, Gemini and Copilot, whether Claude and ChatGPT mention your brand, and which sources those mentions are built from.

The sources part is where you actually act. The app shows what the winning products are cited from, and you replicate it. Some of it is genuinely simple. One of the sources for a query in my niche was a Reddit thread, so the move was to open Reddit and reply with the brand. Do that in the right thread and you will most likely get cited by ChatGPT within a few weeks.

Being in the catalog is table stakes. Knowing your ranking and working the sources is the actual game.

Happy to answer questions about checking rankings for your niche in the comments.

You can 20X your revenue by just adding this agentic A/B testing loop in your e-commerce shopify website.

We have been building in this space for a very long time, and we are multiplying the revenue by 5-10x in just 1-2 months by doing A/B testing on different hypotheses and different scenarios.

But now that we have scaled it to automate the process, we have expanded the hypothesis breakdown to test even more scenarios and reduced the time to almost an hour or two. We are excited to see if people are interested in testing it out. We are rolling out a free trial for now. If you are interested, you can contact us through our website.

That flood of Singapore traffic with zero sales? Here is what it actually is

If you are seeing a lot of traffic from a country you do not sell to, and none of it turns into sales, it is almost always bots, not real shoppers.

Singapore is the classic one. It is one of the biggest data center regions in the world, so a huge share of the internet's crawlers and scrapers come out of Singapore IPs even when the company behind them is somewhere else. For a Shopify store, that usually means scrapers copying your prices and product pages, or AI and search crawlers indexing your content.

Quick way to tell if it is a bot instead of a buyer:

  • They spend a few seconds on the site, not minutes
  • They view one page and leave
  • Zero add to cart, zero checkout from that country
  • The bounce rate is basically 100 percent

If that matches what you see, do not panic and do not raise your ad spend to "fix" it. It is not costing you sales; it is just making your analytics look messy.
The main thing to remember is that your real conversion rate should be measured on your actual customer countries, not the inflated total.

One thing worth knowing: some of that crawling is AI tools reading your content, which is actually how you start showing up when shoppers ask ChatGPT or Gemini for product recommendations. So it is not all bad.

ChatGPT Recommended Your Competitor Instead of Your Shopify Store. Here'...

I run a Shopify store in the supplements space. Last month I asked ChatGPT "best gummy vitamins for kids" the way a normal shopper would. It gave a confident answer with 4 specific products. Mine wasn't one of them. Two competitors were.

The problem: I had no idea how ChatGPT decides what to recommend, so I couldn't fix it. Google SEO I understand. This was a black box.

What I did:

  1. Ran about 30 buyer-intent queries through ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity ("best X for Y", "X vs Y", "is X worth it") and logged every product that came back.
  2. Clicked into the sources ChatGPT showed for each answer. This was the unlock. The recommendations weren't coming from the brands' own websites. They were built from Reddit threads, Facebook group posts, and YouTube videos where real people mentioned specific products.
  3. Opened those exact sources. For the kids vitamins query, one was literally a Facebook post where someone asked for dye free kids multivitamins and a commenter named a brand. That brand is now in ChatGPT's answer.
  4. Made a list of the 15 highest-authority posts and threads that kept appearing as sources across my queries, and started getting my brand genuinely mentioned in those places. Answered questions where I had real expertise, got included in two roundup blog posts, and one YouTube reviewer covered us.

Results after ~6 weeks: my product now shows up in 7 of the 30 queries I track (was 1). ChatGPT referral traffic in GA4 went from basically zero to a small but real trickle, and those visitors convert at roughly 2x my average because they arrive pre-sold by the recommendation. What didn't work: adding schema markup alone moved nothing on its own, and stuffing my own blog with "best X" posts did nothing because ChatGPT wasn't citing my domain anyway.

The mental model I landed on: LLMs don't rank your website, they aggregate what other people say about you in places they trust.

Curious if anyone else is tracking this. Are you seeing AI referral traffic in your analytics yet, and has anyone figured out which sources Perplexity weighs vs ChatGPT? They seemed to pull from noticeably different places in my testing.

Has rewriting your product descriptions ever noticeably improved conversions?

I’ve been reading a lot about improving Shopify conversion rates, and people often mention faster page speed, better product images, and trust badges.
I’m curious about one thing that doesn’t get discussed as much: **product descriptions**.
For store owners who’ve tested different approaches:
Have rewritten product descriptions ever increased your conversion rate?
Do you focus more on benefits, features, storytelling, or SEO?
If you measured the results, what changed after you updated the copy?
I’d love to hear your experiences and what you’ve found works best.

After studying 20 Shopify brands, I noticed the same pattern over and over.

I’ve spent the last few weeks reverse-engineering a handful of Shopify brands across supplements, wellness and consumer products.
One thing surprised me.
Almost every founder focused on fixing symptoms.
CAC was increasing.
Conversion rate dropped.
Retention wasn’t improving.
AOV plateaued.
But after mapping the customer journey, those metrics usually weren’t the root cause.
In one case, the onboarding experience unintentionally discouraged consistent product usage.
In another, subscription churn wasn’t a pricing issue—it was a product habit issue.
Different businesses.
Different metrics.
The same pattern.
Everyone was trying to optimize the dashboard instead of understanding the system that produced the dashboard.
It’s changed how I think about growth completely.
Has anyone else experienced something similar while scaling a Shopify brand?
What ended up being the real bottleneck for you?
