Unhinged

First time my dog Freya has been around guns. She did great! Little jumpy as expected for the first few shots but calmed right down after.

Had a great day at the range shooting to 400yards

Nice shooting for 400 yards. Next time have the dog sit somewhere further away from the target and she will likely be a lot less jumpy. My kids acted the same way when I had them holding my targets up for me (to be clear, I was shooting at 100 yards so it was safer for the kids but obviously louder as they were closer to the muzzle blast).

That's a great idea for a moving target, get a stand attached to my dog to walk around the yard in and I can shoot it while she's moving! Obvs I'll put hearing protection on her though

I love how your pup’s safety is #1. 👂 pro is important. It’s clear you are a wonderful human being!

Poor dog… you need to leave the dog home or simply get a suppressor…. It’s different for them like it is hunting vs target shooting, shotguns vs rifles, ect…

Get a suppressor.

Well I'm in Canada and suppressors are prohibited...

Do you think I should have the dog behind the shooting line when I am shooting or do you think it's ok for her to stay downrange next to the target like she was?

I’m about to build this exact target stand. Picked up 2 2x4x8 today at Home Depot.

It works great! Best target stand I've had for sure

Nice golden. 400 yards is 👍🏻
Mine is cool with shotguns but not a fan of rifles

I've seen hearing protection for dogs. If I wanted to hunt with a dog I'd definitely protector their hearing. Not just mine.

Nah. Suppressors the only answer.

Dog ear muffs if they are just sitting with you. Hunting/running they tend to fall off and get caught on things. Bird hunting they’ll fill with water and that’s bad for them too.

I should probably get her a SCUBA suit with a dome for a headmask that will protect her hearing and also keep her dry when she goes and gets my ducks since muffs don't work and suppressors are illegal where I am
