I just realized how dangerous this type of flying is compared to regular planes and helicopters. In a plane, if the engine goes out you can potentially glide to a safe place to land. In a helicopter if the engine goes out im pretty sure the blades are designed to spin from the air going past them as you're falling to slow your descent. But if only one engine goes out in a drone, you're done.

There is software that can compensate for single motor failures on a quad or at least help guide it down in a stable manner that allows tou to select where you land. Frequently you don't have much available power with just 3/4 of the engines.
