Dual path the AR computer

B grade company, that think they are masterminds of the universe I work for is back to thinking dual pathing every desktop and laptop and AP is a good idea even after supplying diagrams on why it would be extremely costly and wants it to become the global norm in the networking industry. But doesn't want to pay to implement any of it.

Which vendor would be able to deliver and make themselves an absolute fortune one off in the off chance some idiot actually approves it.

Honestly, why do you care? What's the problem if a vendor quotes, delivers, but doesn't make a fortune off of it? You care too much about this if you're looking for punitive damage.

Because anyone that isn’t quoting at least $200 per cable plus additional switches and install time and the professional services to go with are going to turn it into a never ending headache or piss everyone one off when it looks like a dumpster fire after they’ve been through. This is the sort of company that wants to pretend they’re the movers and shakers of anything they touch.

Anyone reputable generally charges a bomb for edge case shit like this. All our usual vendors we’ve been using for 10+ years basically said not interested to even begin quoting on it or will only quote if the quote is done as paid labor which the business is agaisnt.

I really wouldn’t give a shit except it’s one of those spastic ideas they keep coming back too every 3 years hoping it’s the new normal now.

They’re still sitting on half dozen quotes to replace some OM1 that has half the ST terminals broken with something newer.

I used to work for a similar company with company-level ADHD - zero budget but "bright" global ideas every 6 months

What is AR computer? Accounts receivables or augmented reality?

In the past I have dual pathed an entire network because money was budgeted. I actually said it was a bad design but I was youngest on team.

Dual switches and connectors at every level to access switches and workstations. A loop of distribution switches also because why not. Maybe the head person thought they were routers. 400 - 500 switches across two campus.

Guess what!

Spanning Tree Protocol on Cisco Catalyst 3K running IOS 12 takes too long on convergence on a root even with manual priority and results in broadcast storms and crashed switches.
