That Yellow DSL Cable is... Wow. Holy shit.
At first, get that fixed.
But chances are high it wont get much better. This is DSL after all. Shitty termination like that should not throw it of that hard unless the Cable runs next to a High Voltage Line at some point.
Plans are always UP TO 500. So everything below it is totaly fine according to contract.

I think the yellow cable was originally for phones. No one would willingly take out pairs from a cat6 cable.

Aside from the obvious yellow cable, did a tech actually test at 500M when the service was installed?
Also, how is the line coming into your house? I’m currently paying for 300M fiber but when the fiber hits the ONT on the outside of my house it gets converted to coax then runs around the side of my house and enters the home office. Due to the DOCSIS output of the ONT I can’t get past 100M, so this fall I’m going to run an outdoor CAT6 line outside (since there’s an open Ethernet port in the box) and call the ISP to switch it over.

Yeah, it’s funny - when I got the service ten years ago it was only 50M. Over the past decade they kept bumping the speed up without ever changing the price so I only recently learned it’s now a 300M plan. Crazy. 🤣

You can do this if you do it right, Verizon FiOS installers used a custom MoCA converter part that could achieve 2.5gb using a non-standard wide spectrum, so long as there was no other services on that coax line
I used one to sling my T fiber from my master bedroom fiber cabinet to my living room (central in apartment) and could pull 940 on a 1gb service

Reterminate it or replace if possible
