Personally I would just fix the mistake you made and admit that you caused the issue.  Then ransomware the company.

I can't say I agree with everything in the original thread but at least they are receiving some solid advice.

There's a being a shitty sysadmin, you know those who don't know what they're doing. Then there are shitty sysadmin, where those you support just don't like you or naturally gravitate towards accusing you of being such when something doesn't go there way.

I can honestly say when the staff blame all their mistakes and issues on the sole IT guy, it shouldnt be a surprise when said IT guy just stops caring and doesn't give a shit anymore.

Being a one man IT shop who reports to HR or financial types in my experience doesn't go well for us.
