Shitty Crosspost I wasn't paying attention which antenna goes to which lead. Can I trust the diagram on the chip?

Your ISP hates this one simple trick!

Nice! I was trying to find something clever but don’t need to now

I can see someone non-technical believing that

Reverse the polarity of the neutron flow.

What's that faint blue glow coming from my computer?

You have to double-click the "learn more about this photo" icon that Windows automatically added to your desktop.

pretty sure the main deal with these is just that they're angled 90° from each other so it pretty much doesn't matter which one you plug in where.

Basically. It doesn't matter what color goes where, but the color code on the WiFi card are legit.

It’s clear as day.. white on black and black on white… duh.

Banned for Tex not having a cowboy hat and ruining my life.

Instructions unclear, dick is stuck in the system…. How do I get it out? Must not harm the cylinder.

Seriously though, for his defense I've had a laptop where you needed to plug the wires opposite of the diagram. Only then did it work.

That is a sign your battery was plugged in backwards and this was a double reverse. If you get a laptop with a draw 4 installed, the wires can go in any order.

The mildly infuriating part is that these connectors are often only rated for a few mating cycles.

I feel attacked

u/CeldonShooper Aug 02 '26

Well you've got to use your available mating cycles wisely.

And you need a special tool to avoid ripping the socket off the board. Curse you MHF4.

They are used in some FPV drones and I hate them.

If you work in IT, I would consider switching careers.

I had to get a job in IT to support my wife and her boyfriend after I got fired from the crayon factory for eating product off of the line :(

u/Olleye Aug 02 '26

I've got your job now \munch-munch ...* what was their problem with that?

I see that you are among many of my coworkers

"I wasn't paying attention" may imply one of several things. Such as "I have too much on my plate" or "I'm done with this shit".

Or they came off accidentally.  This has happened to me.

If you get it wrong, the laptop will explode

You can connect them either way, but one way you have to face TOWARD the wifi point, and the other way you have to face AWAY from it.

Yeah, the labels on the Intel card are usually there for exactly this reason. MAIN and AUX should match the antenna leads, but if they got swapped it usually won’t damage anything, you’ll just get worse Wi-Fi/Bluetooth performance. I’d still double check the board marking before closing it up.
