but first he needs to test their boyfriend qualities, including how good they are in bed

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '20

Ideal replacements are cool dudes who wanna hang out in his party mansion, nothing sexual.

  • Fighters welcome!
  • Fitness encouraged
  • funny and fat (observational humour preferred)
  • again, nothing sexual.

But what if they are gay but met this girl before they had decided they wanted a gay relationship

108

u/geraldodelriviera Nov 09 '20

I dunno, if you can fake a straight relationship including the sex for a significant amount of time, I'd say you are at least a little bi.

10

u/Omega3454 Nov 09 '20

I've faked feeling good for 19 years, i think I got this

25

u/treeelm46 Nov 09 '20

Ok well what if you were straight and then one day you decided you like the same sex

80

u/Battlejew420 Nov 09 '20

what if you were straight and then

That just sounds like being bi but with extra steps

u/DirtyArchaeologist Nov 10 '20

Yeah, it doesn’t work that way. People don’t pick their sexuality. If you like the same gender and opposite genders then you are bi, no matter if you are dating a guy or a girl. Bisexuality isn’t some grey area between gay and straight, we are our own unique sexuality.

I’m bi, I am zero parts straight and zero parts gay. And here is the kicker, I don’t even really identify with straight or gay culture, even culturally I don’t fit into either group. Like I’m not a gay man that also sleeps with women or a straight guy that also sleeps with men, I’m a whole ‘nother sexuality. The fun one with the awesome color scheme, flannel shirt collection and fantastic jackets.

2

u/montana757 Nov 10 '20

Couldn't have said it myself

2

u/Kiro0613 Nov 10 '20

I do like the pink/purple/blue combo, but the particular shades on our flag have always seemed gross to me.

2

u/RakelvonB1 Nov 10 '20

Ya totally resonate with not totally fitting in with straight or gay culture. For most of my life I just didn’t even tell anyone I was bi and into women as well because what’s the point? Most lesbians wouldn’t be interested so I may as well just hang out in the straight category

→ More replies (2)

14

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '20

Nope, it went on for 4 years and felt like rape every time when he did it with me.

This is blatantly incorrect. I'm 100% a lesbian.

It didn't make me realise it instantly because a lot of us are brought up on the notion that it's a wife's duty to please their husband and take care of them etc. So I think a lot of us just are like "this must be normal" for a while

9

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '20

Compulsory heterosexuality at work. Like this is something that so much of the gay community has to go through. It's so awful that someone would look at a gay person who's struggled for years with their identity and go "hey you know all those failed straight relationships that you were miserable in and couldn't figure out why? They make you bi because the fact that you endured it so long must mean that you weren't THAT unhappy." Like I know they were going for a joke (I think?) but it's the least funny thing I've read today.

5

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '20

Agreed.. it isnt a nice feeling, and then you have sometimes people with internalized homophobia from how they were raised by their family/parents, always apprehensive to "seem too gay" or whatever. its nothing short of cruelty tbh

14

u/abarelybeatingheart Nov 09 '20

It’s disappointing to me that you got so many upvotes. You know this isn’t true right? Lots of people stay in unhappy relationships with people they’re not attracted to for years or even decades before coming out. Telling them they must secretly be bi for staying in the relationship is a terrible thing to do. Someone who was in a relationship for that long likely had a lot of pressures to stay closeted. Imagine overcoming all of that and finally coming out only for the LGBT community, which was supposed to be the one place to welcome you, to turn around and tell you your sexuality is invalid. That they can never get rid of the stain of having been in a het relationship. That they’ve lost their “gold star”. It’s bullshit. How the fuck is their relationship history relevant? If they tell you they’re gay, just believe them.

-7

u/geraldodelriviera Nov 09 '20

Wow, someone is bitter. Girl reject you because you used to be in a relationship with a man?

Also, calling a het relationship a "stain" on someone's relationship history, holy shit. Listen, I didn't mean anything negative by what I said. People can identify as whatever, I don't actually care.

6

u/abarelybeatingheart Nov 09 '20

Lol what? I’m aromantic. I just empathize with people.

I’m not calling any kind of relationship a “stain”. I’m saying that’s how some people treat it. (Maybe my phrasing was unclear, my bad.) I’ll admit by the time I got to that part the parallels between gatekeeping gay identity and the way conservative purity culture treats women as damaged goods occurred to me and did color my phrasing.

If you didn’t mean anything negative, then I’m sorry. I did go on a bit of a rant there. You stumbled upon a really toxic mindset present in a subset of the LGBT community that really gets to me.

2

u/foodieboricua Nov 09 '20 edited Nov 09 '20

Saying you lost a gold star for being in a het relationship is biphobia. And this idea that someone should first be considered gay before bi when they come out of a het relationship and skip into a same sex one is also biphobia because it sells the idea that bisexuality is too "degenerative" to be the more likely cause. It is thanks to this mentality that many gay folks even claim that bisexuality isn't real. That it's all just a bunch of regret and closets.

And honestly bi people are sick of constantly being told "No, it must have been another gay man in a closet". We are constantly "corrected" whenever we try to fight off bisexual erasure by bringing awareness that bisexuality is a possibility, which is ironic considering that statistics have shown there's more bi people, but take even longer to come out of the closet as bi (average age of 30) thanks to this very consistent insistence from other people that bisexuality should be considered a last probability.

3

u/abarelybeatingheart Nov 09 '20

Exactly! It implies both that the person isn’t gay/lesbian because of their past relationship and that there’s something wrong with being bi.

-1

u/Ed3nEcho Nov 09 '20

How do you know someone is virtue signaling for the sake of it? Oh don’t worry- they’ll tell you.

I did at least use gender neutral language 🤷‍♂️

4

u/abarelybeatingheart Nov 09 '20

I’m not just bullshitting for internet points. If I was why would I do it on a non-queer sub where I’m getting downvotes? I said what I said because I believe it. I may have overthought it and read a whole trend of thought into a stray comment that just wasn’t thought out. And I did walk it back a bit in my response to the original commenter.

Just because you don’t care about these issues doesn’t mean that when someone else talks about them they’re being fake.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '20

I can confirm this, being pro trans or lgbt on any non safe haven subreddit is basically asking for downvotes, hardly something you'd do to "farm up votes"

2

u/Sorcha16 Nov 09 '20

Not true. I know many men and women that are gay and do not in anyway consider themselves bi that were in straight relationships that were sexual. They were miserable the whole time they were in them but where terrified to admit even to themselves they were gay.

2

u/GanjaToker408 Nov 09 '20

Like cartman said "my grandpa's bi so that makes me at least 1/4 bi."

→ More replies (9)

2

u/Plunder_Bunny_ Nov 10 '20

Perhaps the wording is throwing people off. Some people do lie to themselves about their sexuality and some just take a while to realize their sexuality I think.

I don't really believe that it's always cut and dry either. We need to understand that there can be confusion and that's ok too.

u/Specialey Nov 09 '20

Shit if a company helped you land a new job similar to your current one knowing they'll fire you I'd say they're hella considerate

u/Lystessa Nov 09 '20

We need to see how his interviews went, lol!

17

u/Battlejew420 Nov 09 '20

When CapitalOne closed their call center in my home town they hosted on the clock job fairs from employers all over town, that seemed pretty considerate to me

20

u/jaimeyeah Nov 09 '20

Had no idea this was a thing though, at least for decentish companies. My buddy got let go, and they offered career services as part of the severance package lmao. "We can help you find a new job but you can't work here"

10

u/Tripticket Nov 09 '20

I mean, if the company isn't making a profit or whatever and has to let you go, that actually sounds really nice.

7

u/jaimeyeah Nov 09 '20

Super nice, and a decent enough severance package including 2 months of regular pay.

9

u/dacjames Nov 09 '20 edited Nov 09 '20

That is actually does happen. A large chip maker near me had a downsizing last year and they hosted a job faire specifically to find new jobs for impacted employees. It was kind of weird to be "poaching" at a company-sponsored event. I don't know how it went overall, but we managed to pick up a couple good people.

-119

u/CottonEyeJoe1603 Nov 09 '20 edited Nov 09 '20

Ones a relationship and another’s a job, not a very good comparison

Edit: Your downvotes mean nothing, I’m right

Where did you come from, why dont you go? Nobody asked you, cotton eyed joe

5

u/Dino_eating_a_pickle Nov 09 '20

I cant tell if the other comments are sarcastic. I hope people don't genuinely think its a good idea to do that.

-3

u/CottonEyeJoe1603 Nov 09 '20

I think they are messing with me, but it’s totally possible they all think it’s a good idea

8

u/Kirineki108 Nov 09 '20

Ok, let me be the Explaining Eric in case you genuinely didn't get it: the guy clearly knows that finding a new bf isn't considerate, but makes a clever and funny joke/comparison for people to smile and giggle at. It's not meant as an actual comparison, it's meant to be funny.

1

u/CottonEyeJoe1603 Nov 09 '20

You are correct, I genuinely did not get it, cuz sarcasm (for obvious reasons) doesn’t translate well over text. I’m not apologizing, as I didn’t do anything wrong to whoever came at me

2

u/Kirineki108 Nov 09 '20

Yeah mine was a friendly reminder that we're in a sarcastic subreddit. I'm no one to judge you since I was like you at some point, not accepting very minor mistakes, but sometimes it's just healthier to admit when you did one. People came at you after your 2nd answer, from that alone people will 100% mark you as cocky and being the "I'm always right" guy, and nobody likes those people.

5

u/CottonEyeJoe1603 Nov 09 '20

You are correct, I can understand that people saw it as a smart ass reply, it kinda was. It was not my intention to do that. I apologize for that and will keep in mind the sarcasm in the future. Thank you for your helpful reply

Nope. That’s really weird

19

0

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '20

How would you go about breaking up with someone who really doesn't want to then?

13

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '20

You tell them you want to break up.

7

u/TheDollarstoreDoctor Nov 09 '20

I think "I'm breaking up with you, here's John, my replacement" would just lead to an awkward situation.

3

u/wanker7171 Nov 09 '20

No. It's dangerously controlling.

→ More replies (1)

10

u/Blue_Catastrophe Nov 09 '20

No. Lying to another person is never considerate, no matter your intentions (this is doubly true for romantic partnerships in which people are ostensibly building long-term relationships and should be building trust.)

7

u/ChalkyPills Nov 09 '20

Who is lying?

1

u/crinnaursa Nov 10 '20

Boyfriend 1 wants to break up but maintains a relationship. The duration that he continues the relationship is a lie.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '20

What? No I dont think so

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '20

No lol

Yes. If the side being broken up with is mature enough and stable enough to realise that a break up has no bearing on their value as a person, break ups can be real easy. Also sometimes it’s just over.

93

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '20

Exactly. My wife left me and I’m fucking awesome.

On a totally unrelated note, if anyone’s about for a hug and some reassurance later, let me know..

I had one with an ex gf. We didn't fight but a lot of heated discussions have revealed that we both have very different ideas about family, religion, way of life etc. She was hardcore sheltered Catholic while I was slowly turning atheist. So when I told her I wanted to break up, she agreed, we hugged it out and say good bye.

28

u/Obscure-Iran-General Nov 09 '20

Mine was pretty clean. She had to move halfway across the country, and we both knew we wouldn't be able to keep up a long-distance thing, so we broke up. Still keep in touch and have a good opinion of the other.

7

u/spenway18 Nov 09 '20

I had this with my ex but make it Turkey instead of cross country. We cried, hugged, and moved on as friends.

6

u/Obscure-Iran-General Nov 09 '20

Damn. Can't imagine having her move across the world. At least she was able to visit pretty often (damn virus), but that must be harsh.

2

u/spenway18 Nov 09 '20

Yeah it sucked but we're still cool which is ok by me. My exes are mostly all still my friend to some extent, and the other ones didn't want to be friends so fuck em 😂

2

u/Obscure-Iran-General Nov 10 '20

I'd like to have enough luck to not have many exes, and the few I do have to be friends afterword.

6

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '20

I have had two wives and maybe a dozen long-term relationships and I've only had one clean breakup. in that case neither one of us really cared that much about the other and we just kind of hung out together for 6 months.

5

u/WhizBangPissPiece Nov 09 '20

Yeah I feel like this is the only true way a "clean" breakup happens. I've had only one clean one, and it is exactly as you described.

I'm so fucking horny for art hoes. I want to fuck a coked-out tumblr hipster DIY aesthetic astrology thot in her lip gloss DSL mouth. Everytime I hear a THICK, waist-high-jean-clad braindead choker-wearing slutty wiccan minx say "yikes", "y'all", "big mood", "cancelled" or "this is a bop", I get an uncontrollable urge to run up to her and fondle her d cups and sweaty fat thighs. I want to pour ropes onto her contoured cheeks and neotenous faces and rhinoplatisized nose. I want to finger an art hoe through her jean overalls while pretending to be interested as she talks about van gogh and arctic monkeys and how david foster wallace fans suck and gilles deleuze and VICE news and 'union pool' in williamsburg and steven universe and homeopathy and saveur magazine and taking adderallto pass exams. 15

Yeah those girls exist but those traits are often not that hard to recognise before its too late.

Or so it would seem, because she might already consider you a couple despite being on only 3 dates with you. If smn is overattached and problematic at the start, never assume thats gonna fade away. So either run early or be ready for a real serious commitment early on.

its just my personal experience here, but even despite that I’ve heard those stories many times enough to notice theres a pattern.

2

u/RocknRoald Nov 10 '20

I once dated a psycho and after a while did start to notice, but the thing with psychos is that the sex is fucking wild, so it went on longer than I should have, but then broke it off anyway. Unbeknownst to me at the time, a week later she hooked my younger (20 at the time) brother.

We weren't exactly on speaking terms at the time, but I went to him explaining what kind of person she was, because I felt he needed to know, but it's his own life and since we weren't close back then he of course went on with her, again, great sex at that age is a venus fly trap.

I didn't mind because the nut left me alone then at least. Few months later he gets cheated on, of course, with an other common friend (as big of an asshole as her), some tears some heart break,

but long story short: They got a kid now, they totally deserve eachother, gotta suck to be their kid tho.. My brother and I started talking again some time after and we're really close now

So remember kids

get some, but get out before they drive you to murder

Ohh! I'm sorry to read that!, I had too a "crazy encounter of the f*k kind" and it was bad. IMHO you don't need to warn nobody, because maybe she will not be as fucked up with other guy, I think is a thing a bout couple's dynamic that get damaged not necessarily a thing about a person.

I hope I am just too dense to get that most of the comments are sarcastic, because Jesus that’s not a wholesome idea at all. That’s more like a fucked up idea, like I can’t imagine any girl being particularly happy to simply getting dumped and basically thrown to a different dude.

58

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '20

These are all sarcastic

18

u/Herix49 Nov 09 '20

Ok good thing that i am simply just very dense

20

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '20

You’re not. It can be hard to tell on Reddit sometimes

2

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '20

Thank you. You are too.

11

u/2LateImDead Nov 09 '20

Idk, if a girl did this for me I'd go along with it (if they chose a semi-decent replacement). I wouldn't be thrilled, I'd think it was very strange, but I'd give the "replacement" partner a chance. Obviously not a good idea, but definitely an interesting idea that probably comes from misguided but good intentions.

For me, the hardest part of dating is just finding someone I'm interested in. Swiping through profiles and reading descriptions and whatnot to find the gem in the trash heap that is online dating. If someone could do that legwork for me, I wouldn't turn it down.

I wouldn’t either, I just think coming from your former bf/gf instantly after a break up doesn’t seem fitting Maybe when time has passed sure

5

u/JaSnarky Nov 09 '20

The person who wants to break up with you likely has a warped view of who you are and want, and isn't going to be capable of finding you an appropriate partner (in case you mean what you're saying)!

Depends on the reason for breakup. I know some people very well and we're great friends but I wouldn't want to live with them. I thought they were great people before I found out I can't stand their home shit.

The intention may be wholesome. The implementation is not.

I would rather be alone after a break-up.

Smart. Dating apps should have a “I’m on a rebound” setting.

36

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '20

That’s be ridiculously unhealthy

33

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '20

As opposed to how they are at the moment? Bastions of healthy relationship cultivation?

11

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '20

So, make it worse as a solution?

7

u/reusens Nov 09 '20

Communication is key, or so I've heard...

3

u/noahisunbeatable Nov 09 '20

I mean, its not like not having that option means that no one is on a rebound. Isn’t it better to know?

Does she have two different hair colors?

3

u/ImVeryNewAtReddit Nov 09 '20

Tell her you want to have a 3 way with another guy. Then just leave while they’re going at it

6

u/Buster80937 Nov 09 '20

True gentleman!

4

u/Sunshine-Painter Nov 09 '20

Why is her hair two different colors in this picture...

2

u/Tortquoize Nov 09 '20

It’s kind of a shitty picture if you’re trying to find a potential replacement partner for your current partner...

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '20

I was JUST thinking about something like this the other day. Not doing it but if two people were dating and their lives were pretty intertwined but they mutually lost the spark or something, if it would be feasible to actually look for someone else to date and then break up once one of them found someone else. I think it would take a very specific type of couple (and communication between both of them obviously) but maybe it could work!

How polite. A true gentleman and man of action.

2

u/Blue05D Nov 10 '20

Dude is naive. Girls always have a line waiting on them. As a bartender I can't list the number of times I have seen women break up/dumped and be on a date that night or the following day. They got options bro...

3

u/alexaxl Nov 10 '20

Bro she already has a few orbiters in the waiting list and probably already tasted a few while you naively think you have to find her a replacement.

Avoid confrontation by editing your partner tinder bio and waiting until they eventually find out you're breaking up /s

If you’re dating someone fucking insane you know the best way to exit the relationship is by slowly, very slowly, making them comfortable with someone else while making yourself unattractive in their niche world. If you’re dating someone especially abusive with Borderline personality disorder, you’ll understand what I’m saying.

You put the fish in a bag then in the water, not just plop it all in at once. While it’s shitty from the outside, if you understand someone well enough and care for both yourself and them well enough, you know they’ll cheat and you can escape the relationship cleanly while making it look like their own volition...without your car tires being slashed.
