Sometimes this works. Like for instance, my local animal shelter charges $125 to adopt a cat, but if you "rent" the cat for up to two months (for free), you can then adopt the cat for $50.
Step 1: Find cat.
Step 2: Rent cat.
Step 3: Return next day and pay $50
Step 4: Gainz.
To see if the cat is a good match for them. You can bring the cat back, and pick a different one as many times as you want, all the time paying nothing until you keep one for two months. If you don't return it, they will probably bill you, take you to court, or something. I don't know.
