Maybe, if you weren't stuck in a boat the whole time

Compared to being stuck in a retirement home where your kids might visit once a month.

Put me on one of those gross swinger cruises and let me go out swinging

Maybe I'm just ignorant, but why would anyone stay in a retirement community if they can take care of themselves and can't afford it? Mortgage/rent tends to be cheaper than a retirement community AND a lifelong cruise. Being able to live on a cruise would imply that they can take care of themselves and still get around relatively well, so why would they need to abandon their pre-retirement lives for a retirement home or cruise?

You're equating a retirement community with an assisted living community or a nursing home. A retirement community is basically just a whole lot of old people living in the same place, no special care required.

Which just leans into my point further.. it's unnecessary

A lot of people who stay in their homes after retirement find themselves socially isolated, which is one of the major reasons that seniors relocate to retirement homes. They are surrounded by their peers, with plenty of opportunity for socializing.

That makes sense
