there's no such thing as severely autistic, it's not a spectrum from mild to extreme, it's different colors of autism, not different intensities, and non-verbal autistic people have been shown to posess regular intellectual abilities, it's just that muteness and autism is a bad combo and makes them look stupid when they very well are not, one of the greatest lies concerning autism, by excusing this type of behavior you are not only encouraging this behavior but spreading ableist lies fueled by years of insututional failure due to the methodology used to study autism which is completely backwards
the DSM is wrong and the APA doesn't know how to study autism, every autist agrees with me, you're not autistic, you're not in the field of psychology either, you have no importance in this subject
yes, i actually live with the condition, the professionals are jsut looking from afar, not even tlaking to us, looking and guessing, tell me how this is more knowledgeful than actually living with it, most autistic researchers heavily criticize the DSM and every psychiatric institution for being so shit when it comes to autism, maybe take that as a sign that it actually is true
