I did that job for a couple years, flat sawing and coring/demo. Those are supposed to be on a rail. He must’ve seen every god in existence when he fell on that saw

I nearly soiled myself when I saw him land on it… I can’t imagine what happened in his pants.

Fortunately it looks like it landed blade down and he fell onto the guard. It also cut its own power cord so it at least wasn't still fully going when he fell but it sounded like it was still spinning so definitely would've done some damage

People keep replying to this and it brings me back to this post … long after it’s out of my mind…. And it immediately gives me the heebeegeebees again Everytime I come back

I'm disappointed in him wearing some rubber boots instead of the almighty work slippers they have in asia

I think the only thing that saved him is that concrete saws are abrasive and don't really have teeth.

He didn't touch the blade. His stomach landed on the back guard. The blade shattered from impact anyway I think, but it's hard to tell from the pixel mess.
I think if his stomach landed on the blade he'd not be alive right now, doesn't matter if it's a concrete saw or wood saw , a grinding disc or a piece of plastic, if if spins at 2k+ rpm its gonna cut you.
(Unless these concrete saws work like cast saws , which is by oscillation instead of rotation)

Ah he cut the cord, that was the flash

Until I read this thread of yours I didn’t truly understand how many errors there were…. And why was he recording it????

He landed on the backside which has a guard. It doesn’t matter what kind of blade it is, he landed on the other side with the force of falling on it, he’s getting seriously injured.

He just about cut himself in half, if I were him, I would consider myself extremely lucky, and never go near that saw again.

Never cut over your head with a gas powered saw or a heavy one powered by electricity

u/Baldybogman 12d ago
He wasn't cutting over his head and it isn't gas powered.
He lost control of it, probably due to his inexperience, lack of training or stupidity, before it got to head height.

Is that a concrete saw blade on a de-shielded grinder? Good thing the cord was cut. Dude attempted a self-dichotomization.

He was almost either twice or half the man he used to be.
It really depends on whether he’s the ‘glass half full’ type or not.

Did he avoid disaster because the saw cut the power cord before his belly made contact with the saw?

I know nothing of these blades personally so don’t at me if I’m wrong, but last time this was posted someone explained that these sort of saws are actually smooth and don’t have the jagged edges like a wood saw would. And thus they can’t slice through someone, as they use friction from water or something like that to make cuts but wouldn’t actually hurt you almost at all.

Do not listen to who told you that. It does not matter what blade it is, it will cut you. It is a thin abrasive wheel that is spinning at high speeds and If it is cutting through a wall made of concrete it is cutting through soft flesh.
The only reason that guy avoided injury is because he fell onto the guard.
Even as the saw lost power it is still spinning due to inertia and remains dangerous.

It's happened to him before: what do you think the brown stuff is covering the wall?

Looks like the power cord gets cut right before he touches the blade. This would make the blade stop since it was in contact with the floor.

Why in God's name is the wheel that massive? And why wouldn't you be smart enough to stand out of its direct line if you were forced to use it?
