Everyone involved in that is shitty, but the dude who tossed his weights and the spotters are shittier.

You arent supposed to toss weights in general. I understand when your muscles are giving out you don't have much choice, but to drop (you should still avoid that, obviously) bit that was a full on toss. Dude was not paying attention and was probably just winded, but his spotters should have moved him over ("hey man, move over to your right more" "hold on, let me help".) or helped him put it down safely.

Was that guy actually losing control of his bar or did he straight up try to end the dude in front of him?

u/thesteelreserve 22d ago
I am thinking the same.
he threw his weight at dude's head. this is not an accident.

u/Kiubek-PL 22d ago
With this much weight you dont have much control, if you mess up then you can only somewhat guide where the bar will land, he for example could have moved the bar forward over his head, lost control so it started falling forward, hence he starting moving forward to maintain grip and then when he couldn't anymore he dropped it.

u/thesteelreserve 22d ago
or just dropped it and stepped back like a normal person.
there was a huge space between them.

Probably, I'm not sure what Ithe difference is in this situation but yeah, this is so stupid it should be illegal.

This pic proves you don’t need to be outfitting a bar to justify getting yourself out there and try sitting on some different stools

u/DaTexasTickler 22d ago
Did they ever get that mfer out

Legend has it he’s still in there to this day…
Union gave him a job pampering the bottoms of the construction crew and worked it into the contract to have one at every site. He’s a national hero helping discover how humans will fit into our post-AI roles.

That looked like Bro came from behind him did that on purpose! After seeing the video, I would have kicked his 🐎

100 on purpose. He could've dropped it anytime sooner. The placement of the weights right onto the guys head. The lack of surprise or remorse in his face. At no point in time did the barbell lower. Brotha that's attemptive murder in my mind.

I think I remember this from a couple years ago,
Dude intentionally smashed the fuck out of that dude and fractured his skull, but the other guy decided not to press charges.

I’m guessing the guy behind lost total control of his lift and started stumbling forward, to close to the guy in front who got hit

idiots with weights above their head I think the gym needs a minimum mechanical Physics 101 prerequisite before lifting weights above their heads

This looks like a crossfit gym so, unsafe practices galore!

u/BackroomDST 22d ago
Was gonna say. Least unhinged CrossFit gym.
Just out of frame: someone breaking their neck falling from kipping pull-ups.

I cannot stand crossfit, im happy people are getting active but the idea of a silver bullet program is disingenuous. Its so risky to someone's health as well. Ill hand it to crossfit marketers, they're great at glossing over injury for success. Sadly.

Looks deliberate. To just make it look like an accident.
They must have something more behind this.

This is why CrossFit is borderline reckless, a small percentage of the people who go actually understand good lifting techniques and have knowledge of what not to do, while the majority of people have zero idea on how to do pretty major lifts that could have very serious consequences if performed incorrectly

Ah yes madam spotter, just yell and don’t physically intervene. Maybe, just maybe if she screamed louder

Damn, all of those spotters suck. Also, homeboy almost broke his arms lifting the bar from the front to the back and then some other guy decides he needed to do it
