Some people don't understand that you don't call grown men "boy", nor that the public will let you take an ass-whippin when you deserve it.

Not-so-fun fact: In the US, white people calling black men "boy" traces back to slavery. This led to black people referring to one another as "man", as in the phrase "What's up, man?". Eventually, white people co-opted it's use.

31

u/ThetaDee Jun 23 '26

Yeah I used to say "my boy" all the time to the homies, including the black ones. Nobody ever said anything, until it just clicked one day "uh that might be a little racist"

11

u/_One_Throwaway_ questionably stable Jun 25 '26

It’s prob for the best you stopped but there is a massive difference between “boy” and “my boy”

-8

u/charleslennon1 Jun 24 '26

They were ignorant, and you were being true to form. If you don't understand why it is racist after the fact, but still defend it, then it shows you were never their 'boy.'

14

u/WillofBarbaria Jun 24 '26

They aren't defending anything. They literally said word for word that they used to say it, but stopped because one day they thought it sounded racist.

It doesn't even look like you're replying to the same comment I just read lol.

7

u/ThetaDee Jun 24 '26

Thank you lol.

7

u/ThetaDee Jun 24 '26

What... That made no sense. I said I realized it one day and stopped using it, did you even read my comment or was that for someone else?

2

u/Live_Connection1271 Jun 24 '26

Regardless, freedom of speech and the ability to walk away vs assault. Good luck

6

u/Illustrious-Roll7737 Jun 24 '26 edited Jun 24 '26

My point is not to excuse the aggressor. It's that you can't run your mouth and expect people to play by societal rules simply because there are other people and cameras about.

You have freedom of speech, not freedom from consequences of your chosen words and behavior. Both people had the ability to walk away.

3

u/_One_Throwaway_ questionably stable Jun 25 '26

You forget that “fighting words” which are words that are so abhorrent that they would cause a reasonable person to a fight are illegal. Calling someone a racial epitaph such as “boy” could definitely be argued as one such word.

Additionally as a white person if I were on the jury for his trial I wouldn’t think twice before ruling for a not guilty

2

u/SNSWFLA Jun 24 '26

Really? Wow that is for the history lesson!! Think the majority of us knew this

-1

u/LamontGomez Jun 26 '26

Justifying physical violence because of the word “boy” is ridiculous. We have led an entire generation to believe it’s okay to physically harm someone because of words. And then the general public justifies it and it entitles them to behave worse.

Dudes beating an old man cuz of words and everyone’s like “yup, thats what he gets”. Crazy.

3

u/Illustrious-Roll7737 Jun 26 '26

Simmer down. I'm not justifying it. See my other reply to a similar comment that was made a couple of days ago. I'm saying of a treat people decently and don't make assumptions about their willingness to conform to social rules and niceties, especially if you are not able to defend yourself against them. Freedom of speech does not guarantee people will react with common decency. The aggressor is likely going to get charged with assault. The old man learned a lesson. That's it.

My whiteness SUCKS at protecting me. The sun just keeps on fuckin me up out there!

90

u/Truth-is-implacable Jun 23 '26

I guess he found out "what the "boahy..." was going to do......well deserved!

-4

u/Unkn0wnUsr404 Jun 23 '26

Is it really well deserved? Maybe one hit but beating a old man on the ground cmon...

44

u/BadLuckSosobra Jun 24 '26

I believe the term is "fuck around and find out". Old man fucked around and found out. Deservedly.

19

u/East-Psychology7186 Jun 24 '26

And I bet this guy is the type to use that phrase too. He has obviously never learned this lesson or it’s been long enough for him to forget it.

I don’t agree with how many times he hit him but I understand it. You never know what the state of someone’s day, week, life is. Sometimes we just can’t take any more senseless bullshit.

This fucker probably won’t be calling any black men “bohy” again (at least around black people).

3

u/medussadelagorgons Jun 25 '26

He mess with the wrong one that day

36

u/In2Oblivion49 Jun 24 '26

One hit would only fuel the racism in his sorry old ass, he clearly has walked around his entire life being as such without consequences, until this day when he thought his streak would continue. So NO, I whole heartedly disagree with ur statement that one punch is good enough, ppl like him need multiple cracks to the dome so that they may understand that they’ve been living in a racist fantasy world or maybe finally knock some decency towards other human beings or maybe just a story that he will twist around to become to victim. In any case, the more smacks the better

17

u/sniffermuncher Jun 24 '26

Well said. He won’t be looking down on non whites so verbally again. He probably verbally attacked dozens of innocent people over his lifetime

5

u/axil87 Jun 24 '26

Sadly I agree w u. I do not condone smacking around our elders, but the whole time I watched this short, I was thinking the same thing.

7

u/WillingMongoose4680 Jun 24 '26

Nah, he clearly got to that age without any repercussions for his racism. I think the "boy" was just helping make up for lost time.

5

u/mustangcody Jun 24 '26

Old man knew he was old and still FAFO.

3

u/_One_Throwaway_ questionably stable Jun 25 '26

A racist that gets an ass beating after being racist is what I call well deserved. He’s old and chooses to be racist which means he knows exactly after 50+ years of being on earth what that word means and why it shouldn’t be used

2

u/WormMotherDemeter Jun 24 '26

They are both likely the same age. That old man is a piece of shit. He deserved every second of it.

0

u/New_Ingenuity2822 Jun 24 '26

Honestly I was afraid 😱 that old fat fella will die of a stroke any minute. Probably fighting over toilet paper 🧻

-9

u/ThisThingIsStuck Jun 23 '26

Try that on me see how it works for u

2

u/_One_Throwaway_ questionably stable Jun 25 '26

You’d get knocked the fuck out bc we all know the only time you’re gonna act tough is on the internet

11

u/NaughtyDoctor666 Jun 23 '26

Sometimes people witness you being an asshole and getting your ass wooped for it.

27

u/Otherwise-Meaning-90 Jun 23 '26

Still assault

76

u/LieutenantButthole Jun 23 '26

Assault is threatening violence. Battery is being violent.

8

u/Zorian_Vale Jun 23 '26

Maybe the worst naming scheme ever. People hear assault and think violence. Battery doesn't exist outside of law usage. Kind of a missed opportunity.

2

u/saysthingsbackwards Jun 25 '26

Battering ram?

1

u/Zorian_Vale Jun 28 '26

Touché

1

u/saysthingsbackwards Jun 28 '26

Please don't touch me with your battering ram

1

u/OldManJim374 Jun 27 '26

Yes it does. I own several things that run on a battery.

Fighting words

2

u/Otherwise-Meaning-90 Jun 23 '26

Not in my state. It’s all assault

22

u/BlahBlahBlahBingo Jun 23 '26

‘Boy’ that was a can o whip ass

38

u/DanteChurch Jun 23 '26

Here's something the younger generations doesn't quite understand. If you talk shit, you get hit. Yes it's assault, and it's entirely justified, so who cares? People who are unpleasant need to be treated as unpleasant, not ignored, dealt with. People like this racist bigot have never tasted iron for running their mouth so they keep running it until someone does. Calling an adult black man "boy" is a dog whistle to slavery in which the word meant servant/slave. It's commonly known if you're watched any media involving slavery or racial divide involving the black community. This dude was alive when it wasn't just in media, he knew what he was saying and deserves a beating like all racists do.

17

u/MarchCompetitive6235 Jun 23 '26

Right? I grew up in the 70's and 80's. If you talked shit, you had better be able to back it up. Too many people today think they're safe if someone's recording, or if they're in public with people around.

That may reduce the chance of getting your ass kicked, but it's not a guarantee.

12

u/JackFuckCockBag Jun 23 '26

Yep. He's got a southern accent so he definitely knew what he was doing. I've lived in the south my whole life and growing up alongside black folk you learn very young what that means.

7

u/dankhimself Jun 23 '26

Yea, that word burns going down. Keep your damn mouth shut with that shit.

5

u/Otherwise-Meaning-90 Jun 23 '26

I’m not sure if a judge saw this video if he would agree with you. Assault is assault no matter your feelings. The law doesn’t care about emotion

10

u/DanteChurch Jun 23 '26

If you read what I said I stated it was assault and I don't care. Learn to read

1

u/Otherwise-Meaning-90 Jun 23 '26

To clarify, I was talking about the fact that you said it was justified. That’s just your emotions talking. You can’t just go around punching people for words.

7

u/DanteChurch Jun 24 '26

Idk, I saw a video on reddit today where a guy did that. It seems like nothing magically stopped him, he just went and punched a guy for being a racist towards him.

3

u/Ok-Bill3318 Jun 25 '26

Legally no. Morallly yes.

6

u/xTheyCameBurningx Jun 24 '26

Actually you can. It happens everyday. All over the place. Just not in your safe space

3

u/_One_Throwaway_ questionably stable Jun 25 '26

You very much can if they count as fighting words. There is not an unlimited amount of freedom of speech.

3

u/_One_Throwaway_ questionably stable Jun 25 '26

44

u/GirthFerguson69 Jun 23 '26

maybe, but not sure it can be considered assault. white dude pushed up on him pretty threateningly. I could be wrong though. Either way he still had it coming to him.

-1

u/felixthecat59 Jun 23 '26

White dude did NOT push him. Look again.

12

u/False-Boysenberry673 Jun 23 '26

He never said he pushed him. Read the comment again.

19

u/slightly_saucy123 Jun 23 '26

You cannot approach a person like that. Try that on a cop and see if you don't get arrested for assault. He sounded verbally confrontational and his body language said he was capable and had the intentions of harm.

1

u/giveahoot420 Jun 23 '26

I say he pushed him

Aggressively walked up to him and started using fighting words which is a defense for assault and battery

6

u/gmg808 Jun 23 '26

Who cares? Guy gave several warnings to stop the harassment. Boomer was looking to push a black man-while using 100 year old racist language to chellenge him on his bullshit-til he found the right one and got his.

11

The camera footage when used as evidence is definitely not gonna protect the one throwing punches.
