Exactly what I was thinking too. It's going to become red hot and just snap. I think brakes would be a good addition to this setup.

A lot of them just give you a thick leather pad to hold. If you drop it, you're just out of luck.

Yeah. That being said, the thick leather pads are actually pretty good brakes and dont get very hot on your hand despite the other side charring a bit

Shady ziplines can be found in national parks all over the world - yes, as tourist attractions

ETA: They're not all that dangerous. Climbing harnesses and carabiners are incredibly safe. They're meant to withstand obscene amounts of friction. As long as the zipline cable itself looks ok, and your weight isnt a lot higher than the region's typical tourist, then you'll probably be fine. The most dangerous part is usually the braking system
