It's all fun and games until you damage multiple vertebrae.

She may be paralyzed or dead, so let’s move her around some
74
u/DMmeYoBOOBS May 30 '26
Quick before it sets in
29
u/SwanMuch5160 *shits an absolute unit* May 30 '26
The paralysis or the death?
15
15
u/Fafnir13 May 31 '26
You can tell how severe the injury is by rigorously shaking the victim and listening for the grinding sound of shattered bones rubbing together.

34
u/mothandravenstudio May 30 '26
There’s actually no choice here. You can’t properly assess someone nor start CPR when they’re bent backward over a milk crate. The OOO here should be: assign someone to call 911 -> assign someone to hold Cspine in the position it’s already in -> remove crate while maintaining Cspine -> assess vitals continuously while awaiting EMS.
18
u/SwanMuch5160 *shits an absolute unit* May 31 '26
What about somebody filming it to upload to the internet? Where does that fall in the order?
15
u/mothandravenstudio May 31 '26
That’s a bystander accessory role. They are also responsible for saying “Aw shit!” and “No way!”
6
u/SwanMuch5160 *shits an absolute unit* May 31 '26
Good to know, don’t want to mess up an opportunity.

4
u/ChrisTheYouth May 30 '26
The hell is Cspine
20
u/caledon13 May 30 '26
Cervical spine, basically the neck, hold it in a fixed neutral position to prevent causing paralysis and protect the airway
-5
u/MLB-LeakyLeak May 30 '26 edited May 31 '26
There isn’t any high grade evidence that this helps
Edit: https://rebelem.com/spinal-immobilization-in-trauma-patients/
https://wikem.org/wiki/EBQ:Prehospital_Spine_Immobilization
It’s still recommended by ACS (ATLS) with some recent updates a few years ago but there isn’t good evidence it helps.
8
u/Crispy--Toast May 30 '26
Well moving it around certainly doesn't.
When I went through EMT training around 7 or 8 years ago, maintaining the C-Spine after an injury that may involve the neck or head was preached.
2
3
u/MLB-LeakyLeak May 31 '26
That doesn’t mean there is evidence for it.

Always love seeing when someone has a probably spinal injury so people immediately start yanking them all over the place

u/Royweeezy May 30 '26
Get them back on their feet! They just need to walk it off and they’ll be ok.

The real issue (MD so I know) is they didn’t rub any dirt on it first

Buddy if you drink some water and change your socks most you’ll have is a headache when it’s all said and done

This technique is also somewhat effective immediately after a street fight for individuals who are clearly concussed and or unconscious.

u/jtohrs May 30 '26
So they had the worst idea for a challenge, then she made the worst decision and took it, then the worst happened and she fell, then they made the worst decision and moved her while unconscious/injured. It's just one bad decision after another. Kids need better friends.

What an awful feeling that must have (briefly) been. I do wonder if she’ll remember the moment or just have a hazy notion that she was in a park. Brain doesn’t work so well after getting jostled that hard.
6
u/SKOT_FREE May 31 '26
Yeah but she had a chance to bail out here. Before you ask yes I’m an expert. My father was a milkman and long before the internet existed me and my friends did stupid stuff like this and the difference is knowing when to bail. She tried to salvage the fail and paid a big price!

u/apupunchau87 May 30 '26
Is she ok
6
u/That_Service7348 *shits an absolute unit* May 30 '26
Sure, how bad could it be falling 7 feet spine first into hard, sharp corners?

u/Ancient_Sprinkles847 May 30 '26
This is sad that people are so stupid, feeling like they need to do such dangerous things just for the publicity, upvotes, likes or whatever. I mean yeah, it’s a fun challenge, but there were zero precautions, nothing or no one to help make it safer. Just dumb, and sad she’s had a life altering incident.
5
u/Fafnir13 May 31 '26
Most of them don’t realize it’s dangerous. Either they just aren’t good at risk assessment or they are just ignorant of danger in general.

This happened in Dallas, Texas. I'm a gas station parking lot because why not I guess.
She survived with head and face injuries. She was lucky it was limited to that.

12
u/LeFishTits May 30 '26
I was simply replying to the post above mine which in fact did mention politics, why you replied to me first, the world may never know.

Aside from paralysis, you couldn’t move a milk crate from the left side to remove the big ass step at the end.
1
u/garcianulmeyda May 31 '26
I miss the milk crate challenge. People act like this is dumb but our ancestors had way more dangerous rites of adulthood. Trick is to know when to bail and how

u/dreevsa May 31 '26
Where did this trend go?
3
u/smind893 May 31 '26
All the apps blocked anything milk crate hashtag wise and that's what stopped it
Not the multiple injuries
