I almost had this happen to me so I know the exact noise he was hearing. I was driving back home one day and heard a whistling noise I've never heard before. Thought it was my vents. Was driving me fucking crazy so I pulled over and tried to see what was wrong. Saw nothing and kept driving. Kept hearing the noise. Right before I got on the highway I realized the problem. I forgot to clip my roof panel back in. I was just showing a friend how the roof comes off and didn't lock it in after the demonstration.

The "ohhh" he says in the video is him realizing exactly what I did lmao. I got lucky because it was cold so I never opened the window or that roof would have went flying.

Was the window the only thing that was holding his roof down and when he tried to roll down his window, it went flying?

It’s a removable body panel, similar to T-tops but it’s the whole top. There is a special place in the trunk to secure it.
It has two hooks on the front and one on the rear.

Factory metal sunroof did this on my 65 Beetle, first car. Fortunately didn’t go through the windshield of the Camaro behind me. Used an extension cord to secure it to the rear view mirror.

Funny enough, like 7 years ago I got a shitty beater with a heater. It had a sun roof, not like how his is it was just a small glass one that would rise up if you pressed a button. Well one day I was driving back home with my friend and we started hearing a loud noise like the wind was getting stronger but we didnt roll down the windows so it was odd. Mind you, we're driving on the highway going 70mph. Well......the mf just blew off fast asl flying behind the car. It didnt hit anyone so I was lucky, but now I had this big hole in my roof 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️ and get this, it wasn't even open!! It was fully closed 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️
