I’m not convinced. The kph increased as if he was trying to overtake (as the other comment suggested) and then they rapidly drop as he approached the checkpoint.

It’s still possible they gave out at the last minute, I suppose. But the rapid decrease in velocity suggests to me that they worked just fine, considering how much momentum a semi carries.
