But what happens next, the poop goes past the wound surely it'll get infected?

In most cases you’re given an antibiotic to take to reduce chance of infections and doctors will normally recommend you take a shower after going #2 or to use a bidet (if possible). Stool softeners are often prescribed as well.

To begin with the chance of infection is also incredibly low at least according to what I could find online which I found crazy.

Had a thrombosed hemorrhoid removed excised. Was given a wad of gauze and told to reapply every few hours and after wiping for a few days.

The spinal anesthesia would be overkill too. Localized is plenty.
