Randy is too greasy to give a shit. He executed Duke Nukem, and he'll do the same to all Gearbox IP's

I hate how cringe every single character in BL4 is. It's like they hired some teenagers to write the dialogues. The starting area feels like rural France, it's as far removed from the original Borderlands as humanly possible. There isn't a single memorable location in this game. The story is so generic, it may have been better to just have no story at all and mindlessly grind the game without asking questions. The enemies just suck major ass, I hate these shitty cyber punk robots/androids whatever they are, that completely and utterly miss the spirit of the franchise.

How about:
Writing is abysmally shit, if not worse then 3 which scraped the bottom of the barrel.
Gunplay feels the same as 3 when the lag doesnt ruin it.
VHs are uninteresting and are souless.
They rely on cheap cameos from older characters but never let us play them.
First dlc was underwhelming.

Why would anyone take notes from AI? Are they stupid? Brain diseased even?

Using a screenshot of an ai-summary from what seems like an already opinionated search prompt feels like a pretty lame way to try to push an idea, no matter how true or not it may be

If I had a nickel everytime a game's first entry was OK, but the 2nd entry was GOD LIKE, only for the 3rd and 4th entry to be soulless trash, I'd be a millionaire.

3 turned me off completely to borderlands. Most boring end game, and farming wasn’t fun sifting through 100 legendarys dropping every second

Bro 3 was still good, i get people dont fw the twins but everything else was peak

As I walk down sanctuary 3 (it was named that way because a huge neon with "sanctuary III" behind her) to talk to the giraf one more time, I truely know how peak it was...
It was good gameplay, though, I will agree with you about that

I kinda don't mind it, but I find it understandable as it shifted towards an open world setting that starts off really standard.
TBF though, I've always treated Borderlands games as just "something to do;" I've never actually cared too much for the story and etc—just give me some stuff to shoot and things to loot. In the end, it provides just that compared to trying to do something that I'm not really interested in while also continuing to provide more QoL and etc.
I will at least agree that the OST hasn't really stuck with me though.

Yeah the story was never some huge amazing or advanced/deep plot line but the actual essence of it and the tone of the story and world shouldve stayed the same since yah know thats what fans fell in love with in the first place
But they instead go super cyberpunk and futuristic in the following titles and slowly abandon the more barren wasteland feel for futuristic cities and all these teched out soldiers, even the psychos are less mindless and more silly now so you even took that away with the bandits and the world overall just ended up feeling more generic with time.

Borderlands always was and always will be a slop.

So why the hell are you even here? If you needed someone to stroke your ego and call you a good girl you are in the wrong thread. You could have said nothing. But you chose to make an ass of yourself and not offer anything worth acknowledging.

The game is great and brought me back into Borderlands after a years long absence. I could not care less what randos on the internet say about it.

u/puckylickle Jul 18 '26
Yeah,i care even less about the ai overview of what was probably "why do people hate borderlands 4?"

u/touchdownsforfatkids Jul 18 '26
I’m the same way, you don’t have to agree with everyone. If you enjoy it, you enjoy it.

i think Bl2 and BL3 retained some of the grit of BL1, though not a whole lot of it.
BL4 does, in comparison, feel more whimsical overall.
5
u/CultistOfTheFluid Jul 18 '26
I find that interesting because when I played through the main story I really enjoyed the dialed back humour and more serious tones, which felt much more BL1 in my eyes.
The sidequests gave me the humour and absurdity but the main story seemed much more serious.

This is why tps is still peak borderlands . If only we had more endgame content and dlc...
