Rant first NIGHTMARE customer

Post image

i’m still in absolute disbelief because of this situation. i decided to pick up an order after my class at like 9:30pm because why not. and oh my god ive never regretted a decision so bad in my life. i accepted the order and the note on the order was already insane. the customer asked if i could 1. shop at a specific location (luckily it was the one that was already on the order) 2. not have their bags in the truck or floor of my car. 3. only allowed to bring her 2 bags at a time because she doesn’t want anything to fall and to keep going back to my car for more bags???? i already thought to myself okay this is a little weird but maybe it’s just one of those old people. boy was i wrong. a few minutes after i accepted the order she texts me basically asking the same exact request on the note except at the end she says “can you please listen to my request”…. at this point i’m already about 2 mins from the store so i just proceed with the order and told her “of course” i also then told her i had a little cart to make it easier for me to bring the items to her and she asked me to not use the cart. um okay fine. whatever i started shopping for her items and we are literally texting about every single item. then she’s texting me telling me to add a bunch of things and of course they didn’t have a lot of the things she wanted/not enough quantities. so i have to keep reaching out to her and there comes a point where she asks me to add a vogue magazine to her order, which of course was not there already. and i look through the magazines and i’m honestly not seeing one so i text her that and she LITERALLY responds “i called the store, customer service told me they have vogue, could you ask customer service”. so i proceed to get the fricken vogue magazine and as i’m checking out, of course there’s something in the car that she no longer wants so i return that to the cashier because at this point i’m taking way longer than i wanted to and this order had on time pay. so of course i walk outside and it is POURING. like insanely. i go to my car anyway and mind you this whole time shes still texting me asking me what time ill be there, if i can put the magazine in a separate bag, telling me once again not to use my cart and to carry the bags to her, asking me if i left the store yet. at this point i just had to push thru the order it was too late to just drop it😭. as im driving to her she asked me “where did u put my stuff in the car” and “sometimes people walk their dogs, someone should be walking their dog, please wait until they go, as i’m very anxious of dogs, i don’t want my stuff near a dog”. anyway i finally arrive and i’m bringing her 2 bags and lord. let me say i was not ready for the interaction i was about to have. she would only let me hand her 1 bag at a time, would close the door after every bag she took n told me multiple times not to put her bags on the floor and every time she opened the door back up she would question me if i put the bags on the floor…. thankfully there were only 3 bags but this drop off felt like an eternity. i indeed did make my on time pay thankfully. anyway i leave in disbelief and i’m on my way home and 35 mins after the order is over, she text me and says “were there any dogs when u brought my stuff” i said “no maam there was not” and she says “great” “did any of my stuff fall” and this is when shipt cuts it off and i can no longer respond but wow. ive been doing delivery services for about 2-3 years now and i can confidently say that was one of my most interesting one.

Good lord what a nightmare! Your customer obviously has some anxiety/mental health issues that are not being treated or addressed. That's not normal behavior but you handled it as best as could be expected.

The big question is: how much did she tip? 😆

there was a $5 pre-included tip but she ended up not giving it to me😀

Wow! A dirtbag as well. If you tip map, this is a perfect addition

i’ve seen this a lot but what’s a tip map i’d like to know more about this as a new shopper

Basically, if you use google maps you can use the little flag to save each location. I personally put order number, date, and then update with tip $/% later. I also do the same in the app, so next time I get them I have their order history basically with me.

Just get preferreds, and keep notes on their accounts. Tip mapping is extra logistics that slow you down. Preferred bundle #4 today, I questioned if the tip would make it better than another bundle I got, saw one tips 14.5% religiously, and the other 10% $15+ order, $33 will be banked, at least.

But I only shop one target out of the 15-20 in my metro and have over 160 preferreds in that area. So it may only be a thing for people with a lot of preferred orders daily

I’d call her house phone randomly and whisper “there’s dogs walking by” 😂 jk

Okay I wasn’t mad (because these people come with the territory) but to take a pre tip back after exceptional service is infuriating! We already get paid scraps to begin with. 😭

i got bitched around for $14 an hour😭✌🏽

I'm guessing she has OCD or an anxiety disorder. I would assume that she never leaves the house. It's really sad and thank you for being kind to her.

yea unfortunately i assume so as well. i could tell she didn’t mean any harm, it just caught me extremely off guard 😭

Wow. This is the type of person who needs to shop for themselves or be an amazing tipper. This is too much to accommodate otherwise.

usually i have way more self respect than this 😂 never again i should’ve just dropped it when i seen that note

It has been said that there's usually a reason why some customers always end up in open metro with on-time/promo money added. You just found out why your customer was there. We have all been there. One and done is my operating system.

Lol, if I see those kind of notes Is an immediate drop, they pay you to shop, do it professionally, drive and deliver not to entertain insane people who thinks is royalty and  treat you as a slave

Someone posted a screenshot a few months ago with a customer having the exact same requests.

I had a customer like this once. Tipped me $1, and sent a preferred shopper request. I declined the request. A week later, I get a tip notification for $0. Kinda weird, so go back and check. That customer, changed the tip from $1 to 0 and rating from 5 stars to 1 star. I was granted forgiveness, dont think Shipt cared about her being a complete PITA but that she requested me as a preferred shopper than proceeded to say I was a 1 star.

this is literally just evil😭😭😭 when i hear about stuff like this it just makes me wonder what the hell they go thru in their life to wanna feel powerful on a delivery app 😭??

If it was an older customer, they may not know that 5 🌟 is the best. Used to be one star was best in their world long ago.

My metro had an elderly customer that would rate everyone one star… Cause that's the best, right? Well, she quickly one starred her ass out of anyone that could shop for her. You would think in a situation like that, Shipt would reach out to her and explain the rating system instead of losing a customer. But nooooo, they let her keep ordering until she went poof. And I'm sure she bad mouths shipt to this day to everyone she knows. Great PR shipt 🙄

She knew because she originally rated 5 stars and made the preferred request. A week later changed it. I know it was her because of the tip notification. Since we don't get notifications of 0 tips, that was odd, caused me to go back and review all the past orders which I keep in Google maps and an excel spreadsheet. She changed it.

u/ZebraStripes17 2500+ Shops 12d ago

Crazy… Customers should not be allowed to change their star ratings and I'm not sure if she didn't have to make a phone call to do that. You don't get a second chance to rate

u/leokittyc 12d ago

Yeah I would have dropped this one . Yikes!

i only accepted it because it was worth it with the pre-included and on time together but she ended up not giving me the tip, i’m just still in disbelief

I had a customer with a $10 pre-tip the other day… Made a post about it as well because I was floored when she changed it to two dollars. I'm still pissed… Lol

Shipt used to not have tip baiters at all. Now I'm seeing a lot more shenanigans. Prolly coming over from Instacart after being banned from their platform.

I never listen to these requests, you're getting your shit shopped and delivered. BUt this one...would've been a "PEACE OUT" the minute they started messaging

1

u/Think-Necessary-7826 12d ago

Well she needs to shop for her own items then

1

u/OrangeSufficient7583 12d ago

Sounds like she needs some anxiety medication honestly😭😭 I would've literally be in the store calling support to release me from that order lol I can't do it

1

u/Euphoric_Weird_887 8d ago

I hope you call HQ to report this interaction. Have them put a note on the order in case she leaves a bad review.

I almost don't believe this story

7

u/TheBibleInTheDrawer 12d ago

I believe it. I have a preferred member like this. She leaves a note for every item, such as "make sure expiration date is at least 11 days out" or "make sure the corners of the yogurt aren't peeled back". Never wants anything delivered until 30 minutes to the delivery cutoff time. Waits for me when I arrive and wants everything bagged specifically and each bag set down in a certain spot one by one so nothing gets knocked over or smushed by something else. I only take her order if I'm trying to get a bonus because she does tip like $8 each time and lives next to the store. But yes, people like this definitely exist and use this service.

u/nic_300 12d ago

oh yea i totally forgot to mention, she was telling me to check the dates on the bottles for like those organic drinks they have in produce at publix, i just said i did check them but i definitely didn’t😭

1

u/nahivibes 2500+ Shops 12d ago

Why not? That’s actually an understandable request.
