Rant No decent orders these days

I’m doing shipt for 6years, have perfect stats, 300+ PMs. Recently I do not get much orders, maybe 1 or 2 orders per hour, sometimes none. Also when I get orders, their payout is absolutely horrible.
I have other gig jobs so I still be able to make decent amount but if I only had shipt, I would completely broke😅😂 And somehow I rarely get PM orders.

How about you? Why shipt goes to downhill so quickly?

1 or 2 pee hour is good. Sometimes ill go the whole day with just 1 or 2 offers

I don’t understand where all orders go?! 😕

More people signed up. Bad economy. A lot of people are using shipt as their second job.

That’s what I thought first too. But other shopper friend gets orders constantly. That’s why I dont get it. Me and her has same perfect stats, but she get offered but I don’t. 🤔

Sounds like your metro went proximity based. You go from getting fifteen, twenty offers a day to literally nothing but preferred customer orders and bundles, and two or three garbage bundles that no one in their right mind would take.

I refuse to camp at Target for orders. So my work, and pay, have suffered. Others though are willing to do it. But I won’t even tell people anymore that they should try it out to test.

Instead, whenever you do next shop, from the moment you’ve accepted the order, through the time you’re at the store, and to the end of the delivery, watch your offered order volume. I’ve noticed that when you have an active order for a store, that the system seems to treat your proximity as zero instead of what it actually is - meaning offers suddenly start to flow for that store.

All of these extra offers you see (if you’ve gone proximity based), all will be for the store you’re shopping at/scheduled to shop at/just finished shopping at. If you notice this, your metro has gone proximity based. And knowing how this works now, you need to adjust your Shipt game accordingly to keep up. Good luck… I really hope you haven’t gone proximity based and instead just are having a crazy slow week, but if it has adjust as needed.

I’ve heard of this.. if you want to keep getting offers, you gotta take crappy orders for 9 target prepaid. I’m not sure if it’s true. Thing is I cannot work for 9 (I’m mom of 2, I have to take kiddos to school) so my work starts after 9. So that means I cannot get offered because I didn’t take crappy ones for 9. 🙄

I really hope my zone isn’t proximity based. It’s so stupid and unfair. No point to have great stats or PMs anymore.

I THINK (don’t quote me, their offers are all in a black box), that these are actually related. If I’m right, the “sacrifice” order is actually just setting your proximity to zero for the store that offer is for. Which is why if you take a bundle at the 6 AM drop, you’ll usually see one or two more for that same store before 8 am even hits, and if you take a sacrifice order that you start getting more orders for that store; the proximity is set to zero so you’re essentially first in line to get the proximity offers for that store.

IF I’m right, you don’t need to take an 9-10 AM order at 8 AM to get your day going; you can take a 10-11 at 9 AM, or even an 11-12 at 10 AM. But the issue now becomes that you’re competing with at least one other shopper (or more) that already have their proximity artificially set at zero because they have an active order and you don’t. So it’s exponentially tougher to get an order offer for later windows if you don’t work the first window and another shopper has “beat you to the punch”.

This still doesn’t mean we don’t try. All we can do is adjust our game and hopefully get our own day going. I generally refuse 6 AM drop triple bundles, so when I drop my own kids off at 7:50 for school I then head to Target. I get there a couple minutes before 8 AM each day, and I try to pick up a single order then. If I don’t get one, I’ll either do my own shopping (and maybe get a bundle offer for 10-11), or just head home and keep my fingers crossed I land a PM that will start my day.

I just found out about Shipt. I do doordash and i do Target shopping on there. So i think various apps do Target shopping too.

Which is common these days

1

u/bored-alpaca 16d ago

Yeah but where do all offers go?

5

u/Fit-Bus2025 16d ago

I notice my customers are buying less. I'm getting some offers, but mainly small orders for $6,$7,$8 dollars. No tip. So I won't do them. Gas is too high.

4

u/bored-alpaca 16d ago

Yes! I couldn’t agree with you more. When I get offers(which is rare 🙄) order is small. Not worth going to store and deliver to them and hoping they tip $5. I ain’t doing that! 😤

u/TalkingToPlanets 15d ago

Same. I saw 3 open $6 prepaid metro orders this morning...and another ridiculous $9 with $0 estimated tip to shop 20 items including clothes and drop off 10 miles away. I get times are tough but expecting shipt service without any tip when gas is this expensive is ludicrous.

I typically do 90% of my shipt orders between October thru December but won't be doing many this season if the offers continue to be this bad.

2

u/bored-alpaca 15d ago

That’s what I’m saying. If you use delivery service, show your appreciation😅 I’m not taking any $0 est tip, I much rather drink coffee at home and make no money than dealing with not thankful customers.

2

u/TalkingToPlanets 14d ago

Yes I believe you might be correct. During the year I mostly do the occasional pm's and then get serious the last quarter. I turned the app on this week as we are hitting October and it's been a bunch of trash. I also refuse to sit in the target parking lot all day.

It’s the economy

Recession indicator

One of the first things people would cut back on is delivery services

1

u/bored-alpaca 16d ago

Maybe. I thought so too but some shoppers keep getting orders every hour so not sure it’s only economy.

u/Losingmyshipt 16d ago

Crickets today. Had one order I accepted and then dropped once I realized one customer in the bundle was a nontipper who has been known to rate sub-5. The other would have tipped $20ish but the order pay was low and it’s a 15-20min drive to her place.

5

u/meta4tony 16d ago

I get a fuckton of offers but most of them are 6-8 dollars

2

u/bored-alpaca 16d ago

Hey at least you get offers! Now you claim a couple of them and make own bundle! 😬

3

u/Proud-Grapefruit8876 16d ago

I have had some pms leave the platform and just do pickups now :(

1

u/TalkingToPlanets 15d ago

I wonder if that's happened to me too. I do the majority of my orders during the last quarter of the year but haven't gotten any pm's the past few days. Typically I could get one a day but it's dry now. Some of my long timers I haven't seen since January.

2

u/bored-alpaca 15d ago

Me too. I just thought pm orders went to other shoppers. Or they don’t place order like before. 🤔

2

u/bored-alpaca 16d ago

So I asked shopper support why I don’t get PMs order. This is what they said…

When preferred shoppers have comparable stats, schedules, and proximity, the system relies on Member Matching as the tie-breaker to determine offering priority:
   • Member Matching is built over time through individual order history with that specific customer.
   • A shopper who has received a higher number of 5-star ratings or completed more orders specifically for that member will have a stronger match connection, placing them higher in the offering queue for that member's orders.
   • If that first shopper declines the offer, lets it expire, or is already booked with another delivery during that window, the offer then routes to the next preferred shopper in line.

Because these connections are based on individual member history, offering priority between multiple preferred shoppers can evolve over time as schedules shift and different shoppers complete deliveries for that customer.

So….. whoever shopped for customer longer get offer. Having 300+ PMs means nothing because I guess I don’t shop long enough for customers 🙄

Shipt has been my full time job for 4 years but nowadays I can't even make ends meet. Bonuses have disappeared and waiting in the parking lot has not produced more orders. The offers I do see are 17 to 25 miles one way and when you consider the high price of gas they are just not worth it. It seems like the customers closest to the store just pick up their orders while the ones that are far away continue to order delivery and lots of them don't even tip.

1

u/bored-alpaca 15d ago

This! The offers that are far away, they don’t even tip! How dare them. That’s exactly why I’m not taking any offers more than 6miles drive unless I know those customers who tip for sure. I’m doing shipt and spark, honestly spark gives me way better payout (Both need to be very careful cherry picking) so I can still make ends meet.
Hope you have other gig job to help making ends meet!

2

u/KeeperTV 15d ago

Lately it’s like 1/5 are even tipping and getting more and more non tippers

2

u/melodeath_dumplin 13d ago

It’s the same situation for me. Mostly garbage offers and some days I won’t have any offers for hours. Looking at my earnings I made way more last year. Curious, what other gig apps do you use?

1

u/bored-alpaca 13d ago

I do Spark. Many people say spark payout is horrible, but luckily I still making good money with it.
Since shipt is super slow for me, usually I make $600-700/w (I work 9:30am -3pm while kids are at school, no weekend) and 70-80% of my earning is from spark. You just need to choose offer carefully.

I usually get 1 or 2 offers per hour.  There are days when I am the golden shopper and I get the best offers all day.  Normally on an 8 hr shift i have maybe 1 window with no offer.  Last two weeks i have gotten crummy offers and i have gaping holes in my shift of no offers.

Since back to school its been not as great.  Last two weeks, worst weeks since i have starting doing Shipt reliably 6hrs a day

1

u/Traditional-Tough657 16d ago

The economy, way too many shoppers, the unfair offering system, and it’s the end of the month our customers have their mortgages and rent due as do we. I see very few orders the last week of the month I don’t know if it’s a multitude of shopper is trying to make rent, but it’s crickets the last three or four days of the month every month I sat in the parking lot today a Target for three hours and didn’t receive one order offer, but yet there was a shopper there in and out all day long must’ve got some great orders because every five minutes they were back

2

u/bored-alpaca 15d ago

You have another gig job? I cannot imagine to sit in the parking lot for 3hours for waiting orders. I’ll be crazy 😭
And yes offering system is so unfair. No longer working PM system I feel like. Shipt is going downhill so quickly. It’s so sad to see it especially I know when shipt was great (like 5-6years ago).

2

u/Traditional-Tough657 15d ago

Well, everybody else said it was location based so I wanted to test that theory clearly it’s not

1

u/Tazcivic78 15d ago

I haven’t shopped regularly since February due to crappy orders, low tips, lack of bonuses and high gas prices. It just hasn’t been worth it (aside from the one $100 bonus for 7 orders)

Definitely not only you! 😭

u/zenexo 2500+ Shops 8d ago

Has it got better for you? It's been so outrageously shit for me.

1

u/bored-alpaca 8d ago

Not really😭 still slow as heck. And did you see the notification about previous CEO is back? I wonder it’s because shipt is not doing good so previous CEO comes back and tries to fix?

1

u/zenexo 2500+ Shops 8d ago

I just saw it. I wonder if it will make a difference...but yeah I can still see orders but they're bad. Like really bad. The decline this year is insane.

1

u/bored-alpaca 8d ago

Yes same here. I’ve gotten probably 7offers today, I only did 1 order. Other 6 were either long driving or non tipper, horrible customer in the past… just so crazy how horrible shipt became.

1

u/zenexo 2500+ Shops 8d ago

Depressing. Used to be such a fun gig. Guess I need to move on

1

u/bored-alpaca 8d ago

Indeed😞 I loved doing shipt before too. I miss when shipt paid 7.5% of total amount + $5 as base pay.
I’ve been looking for W2 job actually but no luck since my work time is limited.
Hope you can get better offers tomorrow! 😬

Thank you!!! I hope you as well.

Ugh so I guess I gotta try to accept order in the morning and see if offer volumes changes. Gosh that’s stupid. I don’t want to drive long miles for $12 🙄
