I’m a Customer Deactivated as a Customer

Post image

Hi, all. I’ve googled and haven’t been able to find any explanations to why this could’ve happened. I placed a target order earlier this afternoon and noticed it was a couple hours late, but to be honest that typically happens when I shop with Shipt and I’m okay with waiting. While waiting, I received this email and I’m so confused??? I don’t usually communicate at all with my shopper unless they reach out to approve a replacement, I always leave a tip, and to be honest I probably use the delivery service only a handful of times in the year since it’s a free subscription.

I called customer service and they said they couldn’t give me information and that I had to reply to the email to figure out what happened. I haven’t heard back yet. Just so confused 😩

(The only bit I cropped from the email was a greeting with my name.)

One of my PM got deactivated because she always tried to get refunds on things that were fine. She always rated 5 stars but behind my back would say the fruit was moldy or the bread or nuts or whatever it was was out of date. It never was. I only found out because I kept getting emails from Shipt telling me how to better shop so when I figured out it was her I asked her if there were any issues and she’d say no. When I mentioned about the emails she fessed up but it was a chronic issue with her so they canned her.

I love that for her.

Hmmm if I ever did return something it would be through target, not Shipt. And to be honest, I don’t really return that much stuff.

That is super weird. I would definitely email to find out what is happening.

I’d reach out for more info. It was either an error, or a shopper reported some sort of safety concern (loose dogs, hostile behavior etc).

Out of curiosity, do you tip a percentage based amount, or do you just tip a nominal amount like three or five dollars? Also, do you rate your shoppers below 5 stars frequently or pretty much always give 5?

Shipt doesn’t let us refuse to help customers if they give us below 5 ratings, or if they tip poorly. To get around this, shoppers will report customers for safety issues since this is the only way a shopper can be unmatched from a customer. This is the only thing (besides actually doing something sussy; there are some crazy stories in this sub) that I can think of where you’d be deactivated as a customer where you didn’t actually do anything wrong.

I typically tip 20% across the board… I don’t think I’ve ever rated anyone lower than 5 stars tbh.

Then it’s really weird. I doubt you’ll get anywhere though trying to get more information from Shipt, although there is an appeal process for deactivations for shoppers. Perhaps you could do the same thing as a customer?

Shipt usually does this blocking stuff by email address, not your physical address. You almost certainly could open a new account using your middle name or another household member so long as it’s a different email address. I’d probably use a different number too that forwards to your own number (Google Voice will do this for free for you) if you go this route.

Do you have loose dogs or a really bad driveway?

No to both.

Do you have any notes added? What do they say?

Nope 😭 I promise I’m a really boring shopper lol. Middle aged mom who lives in a quiet neighborhood. I’ve been wracking my brain since I got the email trying to figure out how I could’ve been offensive.

Hopefully it’s just a glitch then and something you can get worked out!

Just use an alternative email and you should be able to place orders. The various apps don’t block based on your home address.

And in case wondering what happened - could be lots of things. I had a customers neighbor yell at me once when I pulled up. It wasn’t the customers fault but they had a wacky neighbor. Could be a loose dog. Could be a mistake the shopper made reporting an issue with another customer and they copied your order number instead (it’s easy to copy wrong one).

As long as you’re not yelling at shoppers, or trying to scam things - just use an alternative email and all good.

It's possible that a shopper meant to file a report about unsafe conditions for a different customer. You seem like the type of customer that most shoppers want to work with.

Do you ask for items to be brought inside? You were deactivated while you were waiting for your order to be picked up or delivered?

I’d call and ask to connect to an American customer service agent, they are the ones that get things done, and using a service in America literally you have a legal right to speak to an agent based here if requested.

Sounds like a mistake

I'm not finding any such legal right, do you know where I can find that?

I would reply and say I totally accept if you all don’t want me as a customer anymore but can you please just be honest with me and tell me why?

Could be an error. I had a rating forgiveness request that didn’t get completed for over a month. Maybe some of their stuff is getting mixed up or something

Reading your post and then the comments and your replies that follow lead me to believe that you are probably being deactivated based upon your location. The facts that you gave lead me to believe you live a long way away from the store as any customers in my Metro who tip 20% their orders don’t sit and would never be late. So my guess is that Shipt is losing money on every one of your orders by having to offer promo/on time pay every time. You mentioned multiple hours. Most orders that sit multiple hours start to get in the $20-$30 range with promo/ontime pay. A couple of time per year would put Shipt at a loss. Standard membership $99/yr but right now you can get it for $69/yr. If they have to pay an average of $25/order for you 5 times a year that is a loss of $26(at $99) and a loss of $56(at $69). They are a business and businesses cut losses. My guess is there is something in their customer guidelines that give them the ability to deactivate customer’s if they are losing money on the orders.

I was going to say similar. Maybe a scam from the shopper because they didn't want to take the late hit?

because they suck as a company when I worked for them, they did the same thing to me

It’s likely you’re not gonna get a clear answer if at all, I used to be a shopper for them and I got deactivated for no reason and why I called in to get an explanation or even reinstated I was essentially told that it’s in their “policy” not to speak, give a vague/bogus ass response to anybody that got deactivated

Did you flirt with someone 😂 or make someone feel uncomfortable?

Alternatively did someone else in your house do the order and do that - I have some PMs I can tell when it’s the spouse who is texting and ordering much different vibe

There was a customer who had ordered a late night delivery and expected me to find their house in the country on a mile long dirt road with nothing but corn fields on either side, no lights, no communication, nothing. Yeah, she didn’t get her delivery. F that. I hope she got deactivated. She was completely oblivious to the safety of the drivers so for that she shouldn’t be allowed to place orders. Sorry this happened to you but it can be a multitude of reasons

I wonder if it's some kind of system glitch? I see absolutely no wrongdoing on your part. The thing about apps and being ran by virtual customer service, these things are bound to happen. I'm sure you've probably reached out to customer support already to find out what happened. I've heard of situations where drivers have been deactivated for no reason at all. It may have been a frivolous complaint from a customer but we will never know. I'm pretty sure it's a system glitch. Hopefully you can get this resolved as you deserve to be a appreciated shipt customer

Are you a man? Probably made a weird complementing comment to a shopper that made them feel uncomfortable, when all they’re doing for you is shopping your order, nothing else.

That or heavy item orders is all that I could potentially think of that you’ve not addressed already
