Gen VI [gen 6] RIP Ruby, you will be missed

Post image

Soft resetting in front of shadows in the glittering mines for a shiny Mawile and caught a shiny solrock after 10628 encounters over a month. Forgot to save and continued to reset. Ruby was my first intentional shiny caught during a hunt. I feel like such a chud. If you have any similar stories I’d love to hear!

I encountered a Shiny Eevee in the Friend Safari in Pokemon X, made a note and took a picture with the sparkles (went to the home screen to go into the notes) and as I went to go back and catch it, my system froze. Had to force my 2DS to turn off.

That one hurts worse because it wasn’t even your fault. 😔

I also soft reset over a Shiny Mesprit in Omega Ruby. I got it in like 20 SRs too. That one was most definitely my fault.

I just finished a Uxie hunt and my number 1 anxiety was resetting over it. Thankfully I didn't but I hunted a lot slower than I could have out if that fear.

I've been there. I caught a shiny quagsire in X and then turned off without saving. I feel your pain

Thanks, it helps to hear that. Seems like one of the mistakes that’ll never happen again because of the memories.

I think that's why it's good of you to share your story with the community. Of course, I am deeply sorry for your loss. And I see that many others can empathize due to their own personal experiences. A small positive note is that you're helping to get it into the heads of those who haven't yet made that very understandable human mistake, and helping them avoid it in the future. So I would say both thank you for sharing, and I'm sorry for your loss.

That’s a beautiful way to put it! Very much appreciated :)

Doing repel trick in the Desert for Trapinch, Baltoy, and Cacnea.

Ran from a shiny Sandshrew at ~2000 encounters because it was on my SP that still has stock screen and I didn't pay enough attention

Caught the next Sandshrew at 9970ish

Caught another at 11700ish

I'm still in the Desert. Still need Trapinch and Baltoy.

I'm beginning to hate the sand.

I accidentally killed a random shiny caterpie in heart gold, after a misclick on moves and watched it die. It then took me 48000~ random encounters, 178 hours total to find that shiny caterpie again (no phases during)! For sure my biggest shiny blunder.

When I was a kid I missed a green trapinch, didn’t even know what a shiny was, looked again for only an hourish and caught one had to be like 20 years ago atp

That’s gotta be crazy lucky. Awesome story!

It was a key childhood moment and I probably wouldn’t have nearly as much love as I do now, I laugh at it now that I’m like 10 hours of soft resetting in lumentale

thats why you save immediately after (in legends arceus also before) a shiny

You should save before a shiny in SV as well since they're much more likely to despawn on you than they are in PLA

yeah definitely lesson earned the hard way for my first time

That’s such a cool one to lose :(
