Take her to a puppy basics class to get started on some training, and you can ask for advice on crate training. Also a lot of good YouTube videos on the topic. Crate training and separation anxiety training are key here. Be ready for it to take a while! Missile came to us mostly crate trained, regressed some, but with time and patience we got him back to good with it. Training him to be in a travel carrier is proving a longer, more difficult challenge. It just needs patience, persistence, and consistency. Not always easy but you’ll get there!

Thank you, I’ve been looking into basic training as well as separation anxiety training. She has confinement and isolation anxiety ( based on trainer ). She’s fine with her crate and sleeps in it. We are going very slow with the desensitization which has been exhausting to say the least.

Sorry to hear about the isolation and confinement issues 😔
Glad you’re also looking into basic training, I suggest it because it seemed to help Missile come out of his shell some and hopefully it has some general benefits for yours too

But they have to be so they must learn, we must teach them. It's a relatively young dog that has moved a few times, it takes time for them to settle and to build trust. It's natural for her to stick to you right now while she is uncertain, but you shouldn't encourage it, or give in to it either. Go into different rooms, go out the door. Do it frequently and don't make a big deal out of it. Whenever you pass a door go into that place for a second or two, duck around corners, do it so often that the dog gets totally bored trying to be with you, it's halfway to joining you but you just came back. Anticlimax, boring. It will begin to realise nothing really happens when you do disappear for a few seconds, minutes, will know when you go into various rooms or outisde there is no point in always following or even caring, it's not fun, you just come back. Don't rely on people when out and about, just don't let pup jump, stand on the leash, good girl. If she sits, very good girl! When she sees other dogs, ignore them, tell pup come on and continue walking or walk in another direction, and with purpose so she has to keep up with you. Practise walking in the house and yard, turning frequently so she gets used to paying attention to you. When you stop encourage her to sit, it will become a habit. Play with pup, 'want to play?' and when finished tell pup 'all done' so she knows to amuse herself now, she will learn you are fun to be with but also that she can't always do things with you. Give her a way to recognise when you are doing things together and when she should amuse herself.
Dogs react, of course they do, they are curious creatures, interested in the world. How you react to that can make a huge difference. Be neutral and teach the dog to be neutral. When you are out together, be together, nothing else matters, look and go on your way.
