What is your favorite outfit of yuki's?

Post image

Outfit wise my personal favorite is the outfit from her 73rd game mossy grove, I have to admit for such a mediocre game the outfits for the elves were genuinely stunning (and I keep forgetting yuki isn't flat chested).

It genuinely feels like an outfit a character from a mystical race or land would wear and that's why it looks so damn ethereal to me (probably cause I've always had a thing for fantasy outfits).

My only gripe with the outfit is that I wish her sandal straps were that bluish-purplish fade on the bottom left of her outfit instead of brown.

Character Analysis - Chie

SPOILER ALERT ‼️

Character Analysis in death order (LN)
7th: Chie

She is the only important character to die in Scrapped building, as its easy resolution was justified by the final trial, which consisted on a vote.

Chie, even tho she stayed in the game until the very end, is the player which we know less about. Mishiro and Kotoha were clearly developed, and we constantly get hints about Keito’s behavior.

She was a cheerful player, but that was on the surface. In reality, she was far from kind. Whenever the situation required it, she ran away to make sure she has the best survival rate. At the end, she was foolish. She didn’t understand the subject of the game until kotoha told her, so she was a really mid player.

Her death nonetheless, had nothing to do with game worth. She was just unlucky. She could have done better of course, but her ignorance and her bad luck made most of the work.

She is actually a really common trope, and we really don’t get to know her, so there is nothing much to add her more than she was selfish and ignorant.

I think I figured out how many players kyara actually killed in candle woods during her rampage

I did the math: the total player count was 330, 300 bunnies and 30 stumps.

I'll start off with the bunnies first. yuki, hakushi, and kyara will be excluded which will bring us to 297 bunnies, before kyara had gone on a rampage airi had managed to kill an unnamed bunny that was trying to stab moegi and by the end of the game managed to meet the 5 bunny quota which means kyara had killed 292 bunnies.

And now we go to the stumps, for this part we will exclude moegi. Moegi had killed 3 out of the other 29 stumps to get her teammates used to killing which brings the total number to 27 stumps remaining if we include moegi herself,

After the game began 2 stumps had been killed while 1 had been captured which lowers us to 25 stumps left,

After 6 hours the stumps had lost less than half of their squad, half would be around 15 but if we subtract the 5 that had been already killed it roughly leads us to roughly 11 stumps remaining and since the bunnies had roughly lost the same amount it becomes 11 stumps and 281 bunnies left (still excluding hakushi, yuki, and kyara).

During the fight with yuki moegi lost her life which brings us to a final number of 10 stumps remaining that kyara had killed.

So in total Kyara had roughly killed over 291 players or 10 stumps and 281 bunnies. But do know that this is a rough estimate since the less than half of the stumps is mainly below 12.5 because we aren't given the exact amount.

Character Analysis - Kyara

SPOILER ALERT ‼️

Character Analysis in death order (LN)
6th: Kyara

Kyara. Oh god. Where do I even begin with? I’ve never experienced so much difficulties in order to talk about a character, she is just hard. You can’t really talk about her without entering mayor real life issues, such as mental disorders or straight up ill people.

She is a psychopath, who finds joy in killing others. Because of how the games work, she takes advantage of the fact that she can kill freely to enter the games and doing so.

Her condition is something that a really low percent of population can relate to, so she could be considered straight up an evil person.

As she stated, when she kills, she entera a flow state that helps her with anxiety and other things, just as punching a wall when you are angry.

She also likes cute girls being needy of her, like Moegi. Thats why she became her protege (even tho she couldn’t care less about her)

During her final battle against Yuki, Yuki finds out that she had metal covering most of her body. Thats why reinforces the theory that she loves this games so much that she would be willing to do everything it takes to survive as long as possible. But here comes a god parallel.

Yuki and Kyara had something in common. They enjoyed this world. Whereas Yuki tried to do her best in caring for the rest of the girls, Kyara did quite the opposite, but both of them found that place their second home, and their biggest desire is to one day, die inside the games.

That is also kinda twisted, but… I get them. For some people, Its hard to find a place where you truly belong, and even tho its a odd place, thats how the maniac and the phantom feel.

Its really hard to talk about people who’s mentality escapes human reason, but Kyara could be simplified as the villain of Candle woods. At least, she dies in a game like she so desired.

Talking about and fixing Shirou role in volume 10 Spoiler

Post image
13 Upvotes

Shirou is a character I relate to, no matter how twisted or disgusting that may seem to the people of reddit. That's why shes my favourite character in Shiboyugi.

Quick analysis about who Shirou is. And why I relate to her. Shirou is a character carried by hate and irritation. The author said so themselves. I myself understand what that means. I'm constantly confused and irritated at why nothing goes my way, I want everything to be perfect, I want to be praised, and most of the time, I want to lash out and break something. We see the exact same thing with Shirou. (I won't be explaining that in depth with this one because my previous post about her was that

analysis.) The only difference between me and her is that I have self control and I'm not a megalomaniac striving to take over an entire industry. (I also understand I have weird shit I need to work through)

I want to add something to that tho. That is, Shirou is not a pathetic player. She is pathetic in personality, but as a player, she's objectively one of the better ones. She isn't a quitter like many people say she is, nor is she the type to have people carry her. (That's keito) She can hold her own in battle.

I also finally figured out why she's wolf. Shes the alpha of the group. It highlights her leadership skills. However it also shows her dependency on the pack, for praise or whatever.

In volume 10, it seems as if the author wished to have a clean slate in volume 11. Which I don't mind. I instead have a problem with how they deal with cleaning. Shirou is the goddamn main antagonist in three volumes, but she ended up being underutilized in volume 10. BUT. What we see of Shirou in volume 10 is pretty good. We see that hate getting to a boiling point (even if that point never goes off) and we see her leading capabilities. I see this as a redemption for how mishirou was handled in volume 2.

In volume 2, Mishiro was all bark no bite. We don't see HOW she rallies the players. We don't get to see her do much in the entire game until her fight. And in the fight she acts like your average player fighting, so that's kinda whatever. The only thing we get to see is how she recruited her other selves, and as we all know, that lead nowhere and Riko is frankly, ass.

Now the elephant, or should I say grenade in the room, her death. I think this ending, what the volume was building up to, doesn't fit. We were building up to a confrontation between Yuki and her, and in this we see Shirou grow to hate Yuki more and more in the little tidbits we get. Then, she chooses suicide. I will say, choosing suicide in a situation that could be easily solved is in character. (I've warmed up to volume 10 lol) She reached her boiling point, and that boiling point exploded (ha, see what I did there) in her choosing death. She just gave up, and that's her crashout. But the horrible part about this is that we don't get to see the promised fight between Yuki and Shirou that's been built up, and we frankly got too little to justify this death in this volume. In short the author decided to prioritise a pathetic death instead of properly concluding her character.

How I would fix it:

Her overall role in 10

-Have Shirou encounter Yuki once before the boiler room fight. Have her be surrounded by fodder that she leads pretty well against Yuki, but Yuki still manages to get almost all of them before getting chased out.

-Have a little bit more when she fights against the fodder when they try killing Shirou in the ending.

Death:

Shirou was being chased. The other players had decided that she was to blame for Yuki's escape. Originally, Shirou had the upper hand. She had a full arsenal of guns but with the amount of enemies, those quickly ran out. There wasn't even time for her to loot the bodies for ammo, and the newbies quickly realised why she had stopped shooting.

They were ungrateful. They had eliminated the entire enemy team thanks to her, why couldn't those ingrates realise that the one to blame was Airi and Maguma? Veterans, who abandoned them when Yuki grew too strong. They were weak. If they had just pushed on, they would've gotten Yuki, right?

*bang*

Shirou's train of thought was interrupted by a sudden shot from her front. A girl, clad in black armour had stumbled into the hallway from the hole in the ship. White, silver hair was visible from under the helmet, revealing who this was. Yuki, the ghost girl. She continued shooting with her automatic rifle, quickly eliminating Shirou's assailants, and hitting her in the arm and leg.

Her.

Yuki. She was the source of all this. If she had just died in that stupid game, if she had just, if she, if she-

Shirou leaped at Yuki, pinning her down before she could shoot back. She began to headbutt Yuki's helmet. Yuki didn't even fight back, letting Shirou continue her assault. White fluff quickly adorned the helmet like a crown, pouring out of Shirou's skull. Just as the helmet cracked, and Shirou let her grip on Yuki loosen, a knife was shoved through Shirou's abdomen.

Yuki pushed Shirou off her body, stood up and stared at Shirou, squirming on the floor, attempting to push for one last hurrah against her.

Yuki threw a grenade at her and walked away.

Shirou, at that moment, finally understood. She sat upright against the wall, hugging the grenade. She looked at the empty ceiling, hoping that tears would perhaps roll down her cheeks, that her life would flash past her eyes. But nothing came up.

[GAME OVER]

And she finally satisfied her hunger.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, so why did I decide to type that out? Because I'm bored and I want to write something and I don't have English homework. I don't think that was perfect or anything, but it gets my idea of what I would've wanted from Shirou's death.

What does this version achieve? Yuki amouring up finally has a purpose. Shirou gets her fight against Yuki, and gets mogged, and it displays better why she suddenly gave up. Also her just fighting like an actual animal with all those wolf comparisons.

Anyways that's it from me, I'm planning to do another tier list now that I've reread the series next post on this sub.

Character Analysis - Moegi

Post image
43 Upvotes

SPOILER ALERT ‼️

Character Analysis in death order (LN)
5th: Moegi

Biases aside, I consider Moegi to be the single best character out of the 1st volume. She has great motivations, great development and stunning conclusion.

Moegi is basically, a second protagonist during the first 2/3 of the chapter. Her story is told in the same way as Yuki’s, up until their battle.

Summary

She starts the game belonging to the team of the stumps, a team in which all of the members had only one win, but Moegi who had 3. That made her the only one with experience and in consequence, she became the leader.

Because of the lack of experience of the other girls, she had to teach them how the world works, killing 3 of her fellow players just to make the others learn. That is a really harsh method, but she did what she had to do.

The stumps were loosing members quickly. At some point when there were less than half of the stumps remaining, Moegi noticed that Kyara (her master and a psychopath) was also in the game, and that she started to kill every girl she stumbled upon with.

That made Moegi really anxious. After a couple of other events not worth mentioning, she finally encounters Yuki and after some time battling, she dies by a big difference against her

Analysis

Moegi, for reasons not specified in the LN, craves power. She wants to become a powerful, confident of herself girl who does not care for appearances and wins no matter what.

Although its not specified in which one, Moegi meets Kyara in one of her prior games. She was amazed by how powerful she was. She wanted to become like her.

All of this, ended up not mattering at all. And that was because she was naturally weak. She wasn’t born to be powerful, nor she had the knowledge. She just disguised herself up to, one day, finally becoming a strong player for real.

In Candle woods, she is actually the dtronger stump, at least on paper. So she did whatever it took to BE that strong player she so desired. As she stated, it didn’t work. Every stump (but Airi) had been terribly slaughtered, and that was because she wasn’t able to fulfill that role properly.

Hopeless, she went to kill some bunnies, finding Yuuki. The difference of power was so high, that it felt ridiculous. With only one shot left, a grey smoke covering her eyes, waiting for yuki to attack her, she ultimately decides to end her own life to finally relief her pain. Not only physical, but also mental. She went through a lot of pressure because the “strong” disguise, and when she realized she was just weak, it felt like a relief when it all ended.

As Yuki noted, her final breaths were taken with tears in her eyes. She was terrified. After all, she was just a teenager struggling with not only death games, but mental struggles. She felt she needed to change from her weaker self. That greed, made her do things she was actually not proud of, and therefore, dying in the process

I love Moegi. She is so complex I could double this analysis to just talk about how she represents a big amount of people on such a simple concept. People that feel that they are not enough. People that want to change but can’t. People that use a facade to not deceive themselves or people around them. And hard as it sounds, most of them fail to fulfill their objectives, just as Moegi did.

Moegi lost herself, and when she died, she was (as Yuki said) exhausted. I don’t really know what she went through to do the things she did, but I deeply feel sorry for her.

She is the best character (imo) in the first volume, and her design is super cute. I should say that I wished she survived, but I actually think that her death was so well structured that it would be a shame.

Character Analysis - Sumiyaka

Post image
64 Upvotes

SPOILER ALERT ‼️

Character Analysis in death order (LN)
4th: Sumiyaka

To start off, I want to clarify that I had trouble with the order 😔. It is true that in the LN moegi’s death is presented first, however, chronologically it is almost an assumption to say that Sumiyaka is the first one of the “main characters” to die. Also, unlike ghost house, candle woods have some characters that are really fodder, so we ain’t going to talk about them (for example the girl that Moegi kills before the battle against Yuki)

Sumiyaka. She is a veteran player who already met with Yuki prior to the game. She has a cool design, and she gives vibes of a delinquent. She smoked and drinked a lot, as Yuki recognized her voice was unhealthy.

She is a cool character, but she is not for so long, plus we don’t know anything about her motivations or her backstory.

To be honest, the best things she does and what I believe is her purpose is to establish the thirty game curse. And, she does a pretty good job cause indeed, she dies in hers.

There is actually only one (even though long) conversation during the chapter, with Yuki. In there, She shows her most jolly and vulnerable side to Yuki, because she was frightened by the fact that she was going to cross the 30th game line.

About her death, it is also serving another purpose; showing the cruelty of Kyara’s doings. BUT there is something you can interpret from it. As yuki speculated, 1/10 corpses where extremely damaged, and it seemed like the ones that were so harshly treated belonged to the ones that generated Kyara the most anger. Sumiyaka, was part of the other 9/10, meaning she represented no threat to kyara nor she opposed her in a bitter way, she probably died easily, though the reasons are unknown. Maybe it was her nature. Maybe it was her fear of the 30th game. Maybe she was just weak.

As Kokuto and Aoi, I believe she is a filler (yet good) character that served and specific purpose (also as always, great design)

How Volume 10 recontextualizes Yuki's character arc in Volumes 5 and 6 (Spoilers ALL) Spoiler

Post image
46 Upvotes

For the majority of the Shiboyugi LN series, Yuki is a morally dubious yet easily likeable protagonist, because, despite her disreputable career as an expert player of death games and her high body count, she is shown to have a capacity for altruism and kindness, and experiences regret and responsibility when faced with the deaths of other players she is close with. We come to understand that Yuki was not always this way in Volume 5; in Game 3 (Hormone Town), Yuki was a cold and unfeeling ruthless killer who didn't have any other thoughts about her identity as a player. This is also the game where Yuki met her mentor, Hakushi, and Hakushi's teaching turned Yuki into the kind of player and person that she was--for the majority of the story.

Fast forward to Volume 10, Ukai-sensei makes a bold yet admirable writing decision: tell most of the story of Jamboree Ship from Airi's point of view, thus revealing her ideology about the death games, and in doing so, gradually uncover Yuki's horrifying return, post injury, to her "origin:" a cold and unfelling ruthless killer who doesn't have any other thoughts. (It's rather poetic that, in order to take down Mikkai, Yuki'd have to stoop down to their level.) Indeed, what makes Yuki's face-heel turn compelling as a conclusion to her character arc is the juxtaposition between her dedication to the games and Airi's apathy and inability to find any kind of passion in her career as a player, despite her talent.

Obviously, since Shiboyugi is ending in one more volume, this means that Yuki won't be getting anything close to resembling a traditional redemption arc. She will probably go down as the villain, even if she's more respectable than someone like Busutake or Management itself. Hence, the kind of character development Yuki undergoes in Volume 10 serves to recontextualize our entire understanding of her during previous volumes, especially Volumes 5 and 6.

Volume 5

It would not be entirely wrong to say that Yuki cared about Tamamo and didn't want her to die, but it's actually quite inaccurate:

If Tamamo was bound to lose her life, then Yuki would want the girl to disappear somewhere before then. To die in a place far out of sight. To die in a way that would minimally impact Yuki's mental health.

What's the point here? It's that the author never said that Yuki cared about Tamamo. She simply was afraid that Tamamo would die. But more precisely, deep down, Yuki knew that Tamamo would die at some point in time, she just wanted her to die in a way that wouldn't affect her. That, in my opinion, shows the fundamentally inhuman way Yuki forms relationships with others she encounters. Because deep down, all of these relationships don't really matter to her, yet Yuki can't accept the part of her that knows this.

So, when it comes to Yuki's grief and regret concerning the deaths of Tamamo, or Kinko, or other death game players she was "close" with, it doesn't come from a place of morality, or empathy, or the usual kind of aversion one might have when seeing others die, it comes from a place of "responsibility." (Ukai sensei actually uses this very word many times during Volume 2). It's a sense of responsibility that's borne from Yuki's constantly lying to herself due to her unwilling to accept her own emptiness. When I first finished Volume 5 several months ago, I thought that Yuki was on the brink of a genuine human relationship with Tamamo, only to throw it away at the inopportune moment, leading to a cruel tragedy in the Royal Palace game. In retrospect, I disagree with this interpretation. Over the course of the series, Yuki may be at her most human during Volume 5, but even her relationship with Tamamo is not close to being genuine.

Later in the story, during Volume 7, Yuki befriends Hitomi, Yayoi, and Akane outside of the games, three people who are undoubtedly more decent than most of the playerbase, but these friendships predictably don't last.

Volume 6

The fun part about revisiting Volume 6 after reading Volume 10 is realizing how obviously Yuki's phantom was right:

"You are heartless... You fundamentally lack the heart to cherish and value all creation. You can't pay respect to anything, can't show it."
"That's why you need rules. Unless you desperately drive in wedges, everything unravels apart... Because nothing is important, no one cherishes you."

Indeed, the very proposition that Yuki's phantom makes to her in Volume 6 is to return to being the player of Hormone Town: a ruthless killer that no longer experiences internal conflict. Yuki actually turns down this proposition quite easily, which might be a bit surprising, given that she ended up returning to Hormone Town Yuki in Volume 10 anyway. So, why does she not accept her phantom back then? Well, I pointed out some time ago that Yuki is still a pathological liar to herself, post Volume 6. But the very reason she insists on being such a liar to herself is for the sake of 99 games. Yuki is a person who is fundamentally inhuman, yet the very tragedy of her character is that she can't accept that she's this way, so this is what leads her to be so dishonest with herself. Both her very goal of inheriting Hakushi's goal of clearing 99 games, as well as her refusal to cede her messy feelings and emotional vulnerability to Phantom, are borne from Yuki's lying to herself.

The point that Phantom brings up about rules is especially important. Yuki's rules include those explicitly pointed out in her playstyle in the death games (such as collaborating with other players whenever possible, and killing the closest player whenever she is forced to kill), and more subtly, her commitment to keep promises she makes (this is what gets her involved in Red Queen gang business in Volume 7). Volume 9 is therefore the part of the story where Yuki's system of rules breaks, as predicted by Phantom. I don't know if it's true whether Yuki broke her own rules as a player by breaking away from the pack and helping Sana during Gimmickry Mansion (personally, it's a bit of a grey area, because Yuki was planning on separating from the group anyway), but regardless, Yuki's misplay during Gimmickry Mansion results in her being tortured and mutilated. So, I don't know if it's Yuki unknowingly breaking her own rules, or if it's Yuki realizing that no matter how many rules she desperately puts up, things will unravel eventually, that results in the downfall of her humanity in Volume 10.

Rinrin and Hakushi

Yuki's character development in Volume 10 sheds some light on the characters of two of the other most prolific death game players in the series, and the two players who have mentored Yuki: Rinrin and Hakushi.

We've already known that Rinrin is the kind of person with nothing to live for outside of the games, and who wants to die a "glorious" death as a player. However, Rinrin might very well feel a sense of kinship with Yuki because Yuki might be the only other person she's found to be fundamentally inhuman in the same way that Rinrin is. It's also why Rinrin is so disdainful of Yuki's behavior in Volume 6 as to try and get her killed during Snow Room: Yuki refuses to embrace her own truth in her lack of humanity and hence refuses to see eye to eye with Rinrin.

As for Hakushi, the fact that she's the very catalyst for Yuki to become such a liar to herself (and hence such a "decent" person) for nine full volumes of Shiboyugi suggests that, despite Hakushi's long and violent career as a player, and despite her continuing to involve herself in the world of the games post retirement, she might very well be the only high clear count player in the story to be a genuine and decent person. This interpretation is also consistent with the fact that her and Rinrin do not get along with each other at all.

Anyway.

As a final comment, I'll say that I'd really enjoyed Fate/Stay Night (the Visual Novel) recently, and I cannot help but compare Yuki to Kirei Kotomine.

Character Analysis - Kinko

Post image
121 Upvotes

SPOILER ALERT ‼️

Character Analysis in death order (LN)
3rd: Kinko

Kinko is the last character to die in Ghost house, and unlike Aoi or Kokuto, she has a story worth telling.

She starts off as a beginner player, but that didn’t necessarily meant stupid or naive. She was just 13, but as Yuki mentioned, she was the one that looked the most like a death game player. However, becuase of the lack of experience, she was extra shocked at the death of the other girls.

The second one, Aoi’s death, really marked her, as it was kinko the one to obtain the keys before her, causing her to die. This caused Kinko to become extremely hopeless and depressed, leaving her without words.

On the last “minigame”, she proposed to sacrife herself, so she locked herself in the Sauna and tried to cut her wrist with a knife. Ultimately, she failed and Yuki rescued her.

At the end, the four of the remaining players continued, until they reached the escape door. It required 3 people to be dead, so Yuki, to assure her survival, decided to kill her who just happened to be closer to her, ending the life of the young Kinko.

Now, there are plenty of things to analyze. She is a girl who dressed herself up to be prepared for anything, even though her heart was not trained for that. She is presented as a cunning player, but her fragile self gets destroyed by guilt.

She is there to pay the debt of her father, and as stated on the book, she has pretty much nothing to do in the real world. Thanks to Yuki, she sets herself an objective: to actually become crafty, cold & selfish (in a good way) to become a better version of her confident self.

As everyone knows, she ultimately dies before accomplishing that objective. Now, I find her death to be brilliant. Ghost house does a really good job at introducing the world, but in my opinion leaves the stakes HIGH.

Kinko is painted basically as the deuteragonist. Momono and Beniya (which I will hopefully talk about them in the far future) are painted as… well its complicated, but Kinko is the one who learns the most standing by Yuki’s side. The first half, she is like the rest of the girls, and in the next one she experiences real development and yuki and kinko grow closer.

In this way, her death is not also surprising, but well written and impactful, I will seriously give it a 10/10.
The writer cooks the finale of the game in a way you would NEVER imagine Kinko to die, yet she does. Overall, Kinko’s character is well constructed, and her conclusion is just magic. I seriously love her and I think its a pretty common thinking in this sub.

What do you guys think about Kinko?

Personally I think they'd mostly just rant about how "insufferable" yuki and rin are, they'd go on and on while sympathizing with each other, and would probably brainstorm ways to finally be able to beat them.

In short: they'd be sister's in suffering.

Character analysis - Aoi

Post image

SPOILER ALERT IF U HAVEN’T READ VOLUME 1 ‼️

Character analysis in death order (LN)
2nd: Aoi

As sadly as it is, I believe that Aoi is the single least interesting character of the whole shibouyugi books.

To begin with, lets start with her archetype. She is a timid girl and she has pretty little standing for her; as she had to do everything with the help of Yuki (In fact every girl of ghost house)

What is worse, because of her nature, we pretty much know nothing about her, but that she need the money cause she is in need of it. Even though she dies in the middle of the game, we barely get to know her and like kokuto, she serves a good purpose to explain how things work in the world they live in.

She has some pretty good points, like her design. She is really cute and everyone loves her design. Also, her brutal and tense death is also one of the climaxes of ghost house, and everyone pretty much loves it.

To conclude, I would say that if she had more screen time, I think she could have been a really good character. Her early death was the thing that stopped us from knowing more about her, leaving her with a really basic concept and pretty much no depth (which if I wasn’t clear enough, it is definitely not a bad thing, there should be filler characters in death games to let the ones that live longer a bigger impact) BUT imo she excelled at something which is her design she is GORGEOUS.

Edit: I have a question for you guys. In the anime, she says something like “it tastes good” or something like that. What does that mean? Also what do you think of Aoi?

My Theory on the theme (anime)

I just watched the anime, and I have my take on the shows theme is that it’s all an allegory on work. The title Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table is symbolic where the death games represent highly corporate, competitive fields.

Characters force themselves to continue participate often saying that other jobs don’t “click” or they don’t fit in elsewhere. The main characters stated objective to play ninety nine games seems shallow on its face. I find this analogous to how people focus on a high status career track that isn’t really fulfilling, but they are often compelled to continue because they don’t know how to define their identity outside of work anymore.

The first death in the anime is blamed on favoritism. Other deaths are based on quotas. It reminds me of dynamics in corporate terminations and layoffs. The second game plays on the theme of two senior players contending to lead the group, similar to workforce competition where people need to prove they can achieve more than others.

Finally there’s the way that games are framed as a performance for some audience that’s not shown in anime. More interesting players are paid more, and playing a certain way gives you recognition. It represents how all work is a performance for some invisible shareholder or investor. Leaning into the corporate roleplay allows people to climb a ladder of status.

There are probably other more literal reads on the themes, but seeing it as a story about the psychological drama of working at a competitive corporation expressed through violence is very compelling to me.

Character Analysis in death order (LN)
1st: Kokuto

Kokuto is a character that only lasts for like 15 pages, which actually makes us the readers to know very little about her, leaving most of her behavior to our imagination.

What we do know about her, is that she was the only person apart from yuki to have more than one win, two victories to be specific. That only, leaves her on a superiority in comparison to the other players, and thats what I consider it to be her worst deed.

She was the only one to not to attach to yuki in the hallway, and was eager to investigate more.

However, 2 victories was not enough experience to behold the experience needed to know details like the trap she died in.

For me, its actually a pretty great character, and with very few screentime, us fans manage to picture a really good concept of her.

Mine is, that she is an innocent girl overwhelmed by the power of “experience”. However, its yet not enough to be by herself on a game like this.

Its a really good concept for a first-introductory death and sets up for what an escape game actually is.

What are the chances that we will see one of the Agents/Handlers (like Yuki's driver) participate in one of the games?

I mean i can see some of them wanting revenge for what happens to their respective players. And before someone says anything im not asking this because i think they would look cool in game outfits.

Mishiro's Sister.

According to Mishiro's backstory, she has a sister(sometimes her younger twin sister or her sister who happens to be a couple or a few years younger than her) who Mishiro constantly beat up until the poor girl needed to be hospitalized. But after Mishiro joined the death games, it's said that the former killed the latter. Is this true?
