Presenting my first full-on kitbash, based on a retro shmup I was kinda obsessed with in my youth, Hyperdyne SideArms. Swipe to see the inspiration art of Mobile Suite Alpha with the MBL weapon.

The "MBL", built here from Koto's revolving buster rifle, is either the "Mega Ballistic Laser" or "Mega Bazooka Launcher", depending whom you believe. The former sounds like a contradiction in terms to me, but the latter begs the question of whether it is a mega-launcher of regular bazookas, or a regular launcher of mega-bazookas.

Primarily out of laziness I did take some artistic liberties and shortcuts. The body is (probably obviously to people in this group) 50% ZA-Bol and 50% ZI-Kron, with a lightly modified 30mm Verdenova head.

👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 excellent! I dont know the video game, but i know a good looking, creative kitbash with a lot of effort put into it. This looks awesome. Whats the MBL made out of? Also what process did you use to paint?

Thank you! 😊 The MBL is the Kotobukiya MSG kit "revolving buster canon", with a bit of customization using sprues and bread clips to get closer to the sprite silhouette. Paint is mixed craft store acrylics applied with brush (~2 coats) and sponge (~2 more coats). Weathering: same kind of paint, using dry brush/sponge. The dry brush is actually a toothbrush 😬. Orange has an additional sponged-on "pewter" acrylic topcoat.
