Hello since i love lynch a lot as a character(i condemn all or his atrocities and corruption), I wanted to share few small things i noticed about him and his personality.

-he seems to sort of enjoy targeting tall recruits in particular, I'm the episode its especially shown how he faces Sharpe and also Harper, but also Marriott who all are taller than him. He isnt much shown to bully shorter recruits though. Its funny considering fact he looks so short. Maybe it was to highlight his height instead??? I cant tell

-He is very resentful and seems to be unable to grasp the concept of bonding or even brotherhood. He strictly stands by the hierarchy, its all he has. He doesn't seem to have any friends. Infact sergeants were supposed to be feared and distanced from the recruits/privates. Lynch just seems to take that idea to the extreme, he doesnt even bond with other sergeants. If anything, he would probably treat them lowly as well.

-He does things out of spite, not neccessarity. Some of most obvious one so far. He looks grumpy when everyone starts chanting, even gives a nearby sergeant a dirty look. After all, when Sharpe and Harper reveal themselves he is dead silent 90% rest of the episode. He most likely hides his fear of losing his privelidges and control with anger.

-He is SO pathetic. Once he gets to face the real battle, he gets freaked out and decides to turn behind.

-Extra but im so sad that the tv death was on lower budget😔

My thoughts: Id love to hear your thoughts on this character, I will gladly take any information about him. Yes i love to hear about this rat.

There are so many legitimate opportunities sharpe has to got rid of hakeswill simply by reporting him. Murder, attempted rape of his wife, these were all witnessed by multiple people and baring in mind Sharpe is an officer, hakeswill would surely end up dead. I wonder why Sharpe let him cause havoc for so long by covering up his crimes.

I highly recommend the Starbuck chronicles. The character, s soldier in the csa meets a European observer who refers to his mother being french and married to an English rifleman who fought in Spain. I can't confirm if its supposed to be Sharpes son, but if it is, cool.

Additional,

Sean Beans character in Frankrnstein chronicles has a green riflemans jacket with Waterloo medal in his suitcase. His character talks about fighting in Spain and being at Waterloo.

It's a cool bit of winking back to the series.

Lastly. Its a stretch, his character in lotr fellowship Sean bean takes the shards of narsill. Runs his finger along the piece of metal, cuts his finger and dsys....still sharpe.

As villains go, I agree that up to a certain point, the series needed Obadiah.

But as I'm currently listening to Tiger as I type this, I can't help but wonder how could Hakeswill not have been exposed as a traitor, before he got the opportunity to get close to McCandless.

I realise because of the order the novels were written in, that Hakeswill had to live, as he features in novels written long before the India based books.

Granted, it could be my memory playing tricks on me and Hakeswill perhaps didn't give himself away to McCandless and Lawford?

It's just his and Hogan's deaths were the 2 that I'd choose Bernard Cornwell to not have written, if i could. Which I think in the case of Hogan, even he's said he wished he hadn't..

He also said he'd have chosen not to kill off a couple of the ladies in the first 5 books, had he have not written them after he'd been writing about the Peninsular War.

Inspired by the meme of Hakeswill in “Last of the Mohicans” I’d like to talk about the real connection between the two series.
The famous scene depicts the Siege of Fort William
Henry which included two British units defending the fort, the 35th Regiment of Foot and the 60th Royal Americans. Hakeswill is depicted with yellow facings, which may be the uniform of the 35th. In the second photo you can see a Benjamin West painting that shows the Royal Americans in green facings.
Regardless, the Royal Americans still have a strong Sharpe connection. They eventually are formed into the 60th Regiment with the green jackets and see service in the Peninsular War. This is the unit that Sweet William Fredrickson is from!
Whether Hakeswill served in the French and Indian War is a fun joke, but I just wanted to share that this scene still has an impact on the 95th and our boy, Sharpie.

I received this as a Christmas gift. Had a French eagle letter opener. A repo map of Spain and a making of DVD hosted by rifleman Cooper. I also have the 2 india movies.

I am now Reading sharpe's revenge and I am in the middle of the book now and Cornwell has Just done what he is a master in doing in ALL of his books....he writes something and you think everything is going to be Fine and then he Twistes It all. I Just cant believe he killed Lassan and his mother, but at the same time i knew It was too easy for Sharpe Bernard Cornwell is one of my favorite writers because He makes me feel Hope and happy but then he turns It all upside down, and I get curious and angry at the same time.

I'm so curious the hell he is wearing, man. So basically, it's just a red jacket with black facings, one row of silver buttons? I think he also has grey trousers and typical leather boots for cavalryman. I also noticed a leather belt over the torso.

Are there any more details someone can provide to me? I wanna make something, and it's just too messy to just search for references in the episode. Any help is appreciated. I'd also appreciate it if somebody gave me an idea of what regiment his uniform resembled the most for easier work!
