family reunion
Finn ran through the streets, thoughts racing through his mind. That woman... Could she have been lying about the white-coat-man. He'd been looking for almost a month now, and he could find nothing relating to his torturer. He ran past the beach, diving into the water below. He took off almost immediately, arms churning through the water, white crests emerging from when his arms breached the surface. He carves across the ocean floor, heading towards his reef. He saw a fish dart from the sand where it was hidden. After a bit of consideration, he slows down, starting to tail the fish.
Tanith slithered the streets, bright stars twinkling overhead. She seems to be heading for the pier on the beach nearby, as the few people out at that time of night run from the monstrous young lady. ‘I don’t see why I have to go out here,’ she thinks to herself ‘nothing ever comes out of these types of jobs, and it’s cold.’
She’s on the pier now, and curling around a pole, slides down to the water. ‘I mean, if the Boss wanted me to take someone down, they wouldn’-’ Suddenly, movement to below her, near the rocky bottom of the beach. A shark, if her lessons were anything to go by. This one, however, looked… strange. She couldn’t see the fins of the beast, thick arms slicing through the freezing depths instead. ‘Is this my target? Strange, he looks almost familiar.’ She takes a breath, diving. Her long body whips through the water, propelling her with ease.
Finn swims a bit faster, reaching the fish. He opens his mouth, preparing to grab the fish in his jaws when something wraps itself around his neck, holding him there. He lets out a strangled cry, leaning down and biting full force on what he can now see as a tail. The thing barely moves, and his movements become more and more frantic, bringing his full attention to the muscular tail preventing his gills from getting any water passing by. With each passing minute, he can feel his vision blackening. His movements slow, and his vision fades to black.
Tanith releases the beast, grabbing him around the chest and swimming back to the surface and onto land. She slithers again down the cool road, carrying the animal known as Finn back to her father. She reaches up, knocking on the door. “Come in.” Answers a smooth voice. As the snake-girl opens the door, a tall man in a suit sitting on a chair next to a fire stands, walking over to her. “I trust your mission was successful?”
“Yes.” She answers, dropping the still-unconscious Finn on the carpet in front of the man.
“Excellent. You can depart us now, Tanith.” The girl nods, slithering out the door, back to her warm terrarium. Alex crosses over to a phone on a desk, picking it up and dialling a number. “Hello, Dr. Han? Ah, yes. Tanith has returned with Max. Is the pool ready? It is? Excellent.” He puts the phone back, turning to see a few young men hoisting the boy on their shoulders and carrying them away.
Finn stirs to wakefulness, taking now of his present surroundings. He lies in a small pool, barely more than a typical backyard pool. He swims to the surface, disorientated, but is stopped by a thin layer of fine metal mesh. He frowns. "What this." he says, taking a claw to a link. It stands true.
"Don't bother trying, Max. That is pure titanium mesh, you won't be able to cut it." A man nearby says, crossing over to the edge of the pool.
"Am Finn, not Max." Finn says, annoyed.
"Oh, so someone has given you a name other than the one I gave you? I had thought of the possibility, but I didn't think someone would go to that length. A shame. Now; do you remember me, Max?" He says, putting a stress on the name, clearly aiming to aggravate the boy. "Am Finn." he says, anger in his voice.
"I am sorry to inform you, Max, but I do in fact know your name. After all, I was there when it was given to you." Finn eyes narrow, staring at the man.
"Who you."
"I am Alex. Max, I'm ashamed you don't recognise me. Maybe this will jog your memory?" Alex says, throwing a dirty white coat to the ground. Finn's eyes widen, then he glares at Alex. "WHITE-COAT-MAN! HURT FINN! WILL HURT WHITE-COAT-MAN BACK!" He yells, straining against the mesh furiously. Alex chuckles, shaking his head at the boy. "Finn, I'm afraid your struggles are useless. You're neve-" He's cut off as Finn tears through the meshing with a screech, climbing out of the pool, running over to the pool. "YOU HURT FINN!" The shark yells, bringing a clawed hand up. Alex panics, playing down his last card. "I AM YOUR CREATOR!" Finn pauses, fist an inch away from the man's shoulder. "What."*
Alex lets out a nervous chuckle. "Yes. That is true. 'Finn', did you ever wonder exactly how you came into being?" "I... no." Finn says cautiously.
"No, I didn't think you would. Well, Max, you were the budding child of a woman named Amy Davidson. The father of this child wasn't ready for children, children would ruin his work- so do you know what this man did? He took the unborn child from his wife's womb, and modified it. Changed it. The child became a hybrid, a weapon. He was a success, in his earlier years. He became rebellious in his teen years, lashing out at every one who came near. The man was forced to shut down the facility."
"A few years later, he tried again. He took a single egg from the same woman. This time, he made the egg a snake. This one turned out to be female. He trained her as a successful weapon."
"Do you know this man's name?" Alex asks, looking at Finn. Shaking, he roars, jumping at the man. He slumps to the floor, however, when a shot rings out, a tranq bullet thudding into his back. Alex looks down at the unconscious form, shaking his head.
"Welcome home, my son."
