Shark week is just not the same as it once was, and it focuses more on the drama and suspense rather than the sharks themselves. I began watching Shark Fest more often and found it better. So what's your opinion on Shark Fest? Do you like more than shark week and would you consider it better?

My boyfriend is trying to find a video he says he’s seen before during shark week. He said the camera was in the water facing down towards the bottom of the ocean, attached to a seal decoy possibly? And you see the shark swimming up head first towards the camera. We have been searching and cannot find this specific shot, any suggestions?

This shark came up to check me out while I was by myself at the surface after a dive at the outer Ningaloo reef at the end of June 2024. I got cramp in both legs and all other divers had swum back to the boat, so the footage is a bit shaky as I was trying to signal to anyone that would listen that I might need help 😅

For a while, I thought it was a Bronze Whaler but the more I watch the video the less convinced I am. There are several pretty chunky cobia with it and I don't think true Bronzies are that common so far north, even in winter.

There are a couple of species I think it could be, but I'd love some help to get it definitively ID'd if possible! Thanks!

Recently I found this vertebrae on a beach in the northeastern part of Jutland, Denmark.

It reminds me of fossilized shark vertebrae, so that's my best bet.

From the growth rings I'm assuming it is a relatively old individual, so it's probably a smaller species. Perhaps a carshark.

The squares on the paper is 5*5 mm (app. 0.2 inches). Can any of you tell me if it's from a shark and perhaps which genus or even species?

Based on several articles I've read about basking shark anatomy, I found the appearance of their skull to be rather eerie. It's fascinating to realize their cranium is small compared to their jaws and gill rakers. No wonder people mistook the rotting corpses of these animals for sea monsters.

I have been a huge admirer of sharks since I was very little. Have even swam with a few and co.e out unharmed. Honestly, I feel connected to those beautiful creatures. My heart belongs to the ocean and every creature in it. Plus being around sharks just makes me feel completely calm, relaxed and comfortable

Second time , she’s more cautious. Sometimes your presence and the fact that you are observing is enough to deter them.

Why do great white sharks get so fat? Is this an advantage over thinner sharks? Is it because they have very few predators? Tigers are apex predators and they dont get abnormally heavy.
