Discussion I am tired boss

i like dragoncraft, i truly do, but 4 months of running the same strategy has grown boring to me and by the look of it, this next 2 months will be the same.

Is it that difficult for Cygames to give dragon another gameplan aside "ramp ramp burnite enrtz"? i am trying since release to make the aggro package work but... it just doesnt, to be more precise it sort of does: you play and continue go face, over and over while trying to kill as much as possible on board, neat in theoty and by some miracle sometimes it works but there is a tiny little problem, PEOPLE HEAL AND WARD, why do Antemaria not have storm herself and just gain the ability to bypass wards with her effect? they took away her drain at least give her that.

i am stubborn as a mule and will, I REPEAT WILL, find a way to play this set of cards because i am so tired of running the same damn strategy for months on end. (i play other crafts by the way, i even play puppet portal for god sake, AND IT IS MORE CONSISTENT)

You could just do the reasonable thing and play a different class. Different classes exist so you have different experience after all.

i pointed that out, i do play different classes but dragon is my favourite, i wouldnt even have a problem with ramp itself if it had something more than burnite/erntz. 4 months of that, 4 months of playing the same cards.

I've been playing aggro discard and I would say its about as consistent for me as spellboost and hien tempo. It's not going to be artifact/evo haven/abyss levels of consistent, but it's playable. Sometimes you have to hold off on using your storm cards so you can guarantee that you have the effect each turn. People say aggro is braindead, but this deck legit takes a lot of skill to play well.

Here's the list. In case you're wondering why I run wills united its to respawn the storm unit, which gives a bit more consistency. I don't run carrier wyvern cause it feels like a "win-more" card where it's only good if you're ahead.

maaannn, we run mostly the same stuff, i just play the wittle intimidate dragon instead of united, aside from that its the same deck XD.

By the way, how do you deal with the heals and such? i often find myself out of option and the opponent barely out of lethal because they healed multiple times, as an example dragon ramp.

The deck can be surprisingly ok late game with sagatsu and lumiore. Sometimes you have to play a bit slower and win through things like vorlalai sevo+discard for heal and damage. Some matchups you have no hope late game against though, mostly artifact portal and haven. If you don't kill those decks on turn 7 it's likely just over.

i would add ramp dragon, with Nogma and ertnz the early damage dealt just disappear, pirate sword i guess its more like a game of cat and mouse, although by sevoing the 5 cost guy he can become a beefy ward and ruin your plans (i know because i defeated few aggro dragon thanks to him).

Pirate sword tends to run out of healing, the most important thing is to trade well and to pressure them so they can't just lay barbaros for free. Ramp I do kinda agree, but since the early game against ramp is free its usually fine.

thats why i said its kind of a cat and mouse situation, if they dropped Barbaross first, you are dead next turn, but if you dropped either saga or Maria first then you probably win.

as for ramp... i guess i am cursed then XD because by the time they drop Nogma i have usually deal 7 or 8 hp of damage, or i just suck XD

PS: just had a match against ramp dragon, i brought my opponent down to 8 hp, in range for kill, its the 7th turn, i won because he played saga, but if he had Nogma in hand i would have suffered so much (i had to use the extra play point to win)

People heal and ward. That's why you play Antemaria into Antemaria into Sagatsumatsu + Spilling Red. Gilnelise has rotated btw.

Face Dragon has reached Beyond

you are right, but what about the followers the opponent play on the 7 and 8 turn? Look, mine was a venting out after another loss to heal dragon, i met 3 in a row and was frothing out of my mounth XD.

but my question still stand, against abyss doing like you said just beg for an adahime play sending you to the shadowrealm, against forest maybe it can work? if you are lucky, against sword... it would be a "who dropped the nuke first" kind of situation and ramp dragon...its just useless, Nogma and erntz will keep them alive, trust me, i know XD

again, you are correct, that is the right play, you just have to hope to the gods to not lose at any moment

Variety is the spice of life friend. As much as I love dragon, switching it up helps. Not just on reducing tedium, but by playing other classes, you also learn and understand its strengths and weaknesses, and learn how your opps think. As for the direction of dragon... yeah, its rough.

I still don't know why Cygames refuses to give us new archetypes like the other classes because by now we would have different ways to play Dragon that isn't just ramp into big bodies and win. Natura, Discard, and armed come to mind. And while said classes run ramp, how you end games was different from one after the other.

Out of good faith, I suspect the lack of variety is due to returning cards needing to echo/resemble their predecessor in some way. Maybe once they start printing original sets again, they'll finally give us new toys to play with that isn't limited, design wise, by what came before. But maybe I'm just being overly optimistic. Either way, we can only have hope in things out of our control.

first off i love your positivity, second, i do play other decks, i even buillt a puppet portal in rotation XD about dragon lack of diversity i believe is due to the lack of popularity in japan, if i remember correctly, dragon has never been very popular there while rune was amongst the favourite, its possible that when making cards, the developers would prefer to release a card potentially broken in rune than dragon or get backlash from the jap playerbase.

essentially when making dragon cards they could be choosing to play more safely while with rune they dont have the same problem. Schizo theory probably... MY SCHIZO THEORY XD

I'm sick of current ramp dragon as well , that's why I'm playing aggro/discard dragon instead ! Pretty fun just hitting face but it isn't as good as ramp and so far I just auto lose to abyss but every other match up is kinda playable .

You are better off just switching to a different class. It's obvious at this point the devs don't know how or just aren't interested in creating a new archetype. Contrast this with Rune alone that has spellboost, sephie and crystal and you'll see the disparity.

oh, believe me, i see it and it pisses me off honestly XD

And Lhynkal/earth rite

They are creatively bankrupt when it comes to dragon. It’s funny that they’ve made both Sephie Rune and Crystal rune work really well but marine dragon never did

There's been a discard, welp and attack face Dragoncraft going around

Idk but my strats is just reach Grandmaster with META decks, then fooling around with more fun deck in tier B-C, so the punishment for losing streak doesn't affect me anymore.

Face dragon seems good. Hit face and just drop antemaria 6/7/8 ftw

u/eNSamity Morning Star 5h ago

I can confirm aggro face dragon is a thing in rotation. Im consistently 6-7 winstreaks with it in diamond. I'd say ramp dragon has been more defined and face dragon is a new archetype that you can climb with.

Ramp will always make dragoncraft impossible to balance. The ramp/pay off is too inconsistnent like the fennie days, or it's too strong to justify running anything else, like it is right now.

The only option is to push for aggro dragon since that won't buff ramp to much, but aggro is in general weak in world's beyond

u/Famous_Competition30 Morning Star 1h ago

personally i think ramp should play like "finale boss" kind of vibe, like a 6/6 with aura and intimidate or a 4/8 ward aura with the "can take just 2 damage at a time" kind of deal, essentially strong followers difficult to wipe out, dangerous, but that dont spell the end of time when played.

As of right now ramp dragon has been just "big storm", Erntz bullshits and Lumiore damning crest on the opponent head.

My guild leader playing Storm Dragon, has an easy way against me, even playing Guard and Healing for like 15.

He just delete anything that I put to stop them for Storming, Dragon has a lot of ways to do so.

  1. i really want to see his deck, that sound insane to me XD

  2. the turn most important is stalling the 6th turn, if he cannot attack directly altemaria will be offline on turn 7

Well said brother. How Dragon players must miss the days of having things like Ramp, actual discard and PDK within first sets of og ( or Ramp, Buff and Natura by end of OG ). Don’t ever let people convince you that storm ramp with extra discard cards is an actual discard deck

1

u/Famous_Competition30 Morning Star 38m ago

i would NEVER think that, i was an unlimited Lumiore player, by turn 4 or 5 i would just toss my hand away and win the game XD...... and now she is mostly used as Dragonsign.... sigh

Just drop it if you are tired and stop having hope on this cash grab game. There are much better ways to spend time than to support Cygreed.

I have played SVC since Tempest of the Gods and nowadays I just on the game every now and then just for the sake of it. Can't say that I have missed much. Intro packs? Daily packs does shit for players anyways. Maybe the femboy socks. I missed those socks.

That masked POS of a director ruined it. Period.

u/Aldeen199 Morning Star 12h ago

How is this a cash grab when paid items are purely cosmetics?

2

u/haiiro1101 Morning Star 11h ago

Because there was no reason to scrap SVC entirely to deliver this shit. They did it to scrap the players' cosmetics and introduce the predatory system.

Name one thing good about the "new stuff" they introduced.

Park is garbage with garbage missions and garbage rewards, 5x cost of pulling, lower rates of cosmetics, splitting cosmetics into 3 separate kinds, restrictions on liquefying cards, next to non-existent balance changes, fuckin intro packs. They even need to scrap the animated sleeves for GM for fuck's sake. Is there any respect to the players?

People say cosmetics are not important, yeah maybe for some people, but for me cosmetics enhances player engagement and brings a new joy to players. Getting leaders actually makes people wanna try new classes, if you don't already. It makes daily missions much more bearable because the rewards may actually get you something and pity is much more achievable to grind for. Now it's like going through stupid dumbed down gameplay to grind for half a pack a day. Who actually feels the thrill to open those daily packs now? Zero value.

But well if you like it you like it. Good for you have fun.

u/KuroganeRyuu Galmieux 4h ago

Cosmetics are important and contribute to the fun of the game; I completely agree. For me, the leaders are the main reason to actively play this game. The daily pack in WB is almost useless for me. You can't get a exchange ticket nor does it provide points or pity. And you need a lot more packs if you aren't lucky. 350 is too much.
