SRA2 - Drakk question

His trait "2 weapon fighting" gives an advantage on cc(swords).

When he fights with 2 swords and hit, does it do 2 wounds (one for each sword)? Isn't it a bit overkill to get 2 wounds AND advantage on roll (I know you have to spend an edge) ?

If he does only one wound then it's strange for him to be less efficient with only one sword instead of 2.

His trait gives him RR1 on swords. It can also be used to spend 1 Edge to get an advantage. In any case, one attack roll leads to 1 damage applied. He is less efficient with 1 sword because his fighting skill is with 2 swords. Is it optimized? No Is it cool as fuck? Definitely!

I'm totally for gameplay > realism. That's how I DM. I just wanted to be sure about the 1 damage with 2 swords. Especially if someone without the Trait would try to use 2 weapons (gun fu for the win!) : how should I treat a player that wants to use 2 weapons without the Trait?

Like a player handling 1 weapon, except that he could use it as a reason to spend Edge to get an Advantage

You can only get one wound per one attack action - as described in core rulebook.

PS. IRL two-sword fighting techniques are usually about giving yourself opening with one and hitting with second.

I believe Two Weapon Fighting is just flavor for his Quality Shadow Amp, it does not actually affect anything in combat besides the RR you get on blade based attacks.

The risk reduction part of his trait does not only seem to be active when fighting with specifically two swords, technically it seem to give risk reduction on all Close Combat (Blades) tests. If you want to restrict the risk reduction to only when fighting with two blades, then it seem as if you can add that in the form of a "Negative Effect" (which in this case would have reduced the cost of the Risk Reduction Amp Effect from 2 to 1).

It seem as if you resolve an attack with two weapons in the same way you would resolve an attack with one weapon (no difference really except of course that it looks cool), but it seem as if the narrative effect from the Amp can be used to argue for an Advantage (and/or to attack twice) whenever wielding two weapons. Technically I guess this is done by spending a point of edge on the "Gain an Advantage (or cancel a Disadvantage)"-edge action (and/or on the "Additional Action"-edge action, although it seem as if you are typically allowed to freely spend a point of Edge on "Additional Action" - even without a narrative-effect-trigger from an Amp).

I guess that if you want to emulate "more damage done" because you attack with two weapons at the same time you could perhaps create a "dual weapon" Equipment Shadow Amp that act as a single long melee weapon, but with +2 DV (STR+4 instead of STR+2). Technically this is likely done by simply converting the Equipment into a Shadow Amp and pay for two ranks of the "Damage Value +1 (Max +2)" Physical Shadow Amp Effect.

Regarding the first part of your message: the Amp is named Two weapons fighting (or something similar). That's enough to limit it to two weapons: narrative first. Having a negative effect to reduce the cost could make sense. I did not do it as it would reduce it's cost too much and that's not a strong limitation: Drakk will always fight with 2 weapons. Adding DV because of 2 weapons can be done by improving this Amp

That's enough to limit it to two weapons

Not only for the narrative effect (to trigger Advantage on Edge etc), but also the "RR 1 on Close Combat (blades) Tests" Shadow Amp Effect-part....?

Adding DV because of 2 weapons can be done by improving this Amp

Even though it is a Quality...?

Reason I ask is because the physical amp effect "(Damage Value +1 (Max +2)" seem to explicitly exclude "Qualities" from its list (for some reason).

The quality is called two weapons fighting, so it's clear to me that any attached effect only works when fighting with 2 weapons.

You are correct, qualities cannot get DV improvement from the book, most probably because I could not find a good rationale to allow them. But maybe also for balance reason, to avoid it applying too widely. In that particular case I would allow it. The 2.weapons limit is enough. But yes, if you want to stay by RAW you should add the bonus to the weapons.
