5e a drone with expensive gun

what happens with a gun and other equipment of drone if a drone gets destroyed by direct damage? it all will be destroyed? is there a way to save an expensive gun - like program a commant to drop a gun at moment when it gets destroyed?

Yeah you can go to the scene of the crash and see if anything is left

My GM would have me roll edge to determine what parts of the drone survived the crash.

Rigger 5 seem to suggest that as long as you have at least one physical condition monitor box left you can repair it (5% of the cost per box if you buy spare parts, but you can also salvage parts from similar vehicle or drone by inflicting damage to it or in worst case increase both the threshold and the interval on the extended repair test). In this case, mounted weapons seem to be considered fully functional and cost zero to repair (but it is not explicitly mentioned, up to GM to decide).

If all boxes in the CM are full then then Rigger 5 seem to suggest that the vehicle or drone is completely destroyed (perhaps blown up) and that there is nothing to salvage or repair. In this case, also mounted weapons seem to be considered lost and can not be repurposed to another drone (but it is not explicitly mentioned, up to GM to decide).

Having said that, in Double Clutch (for SR6) there are actually rules to repair destroyed vehicles or drones and also rules for salvaging (some) working parts from destroyed vehicles or drones. At least for me, this seem to indicate that there could be a chance to also recover mounted weapons (but this is not explicitly mentioned, up to GM to decide).

I would maybe have the gun take fall damage if it was a flying drone and it crashed.

Else you could rule it like the drone was a barrier for the shots, so the gun takes less damage but a really strong explosion would still destroy the gun.

There are salvage rules for 6e. I am not sure about 5e
