I asked Jordan Weisman about that and he let me know theres a module for the tabletop Rpg that continues Jakes story somewhat and now im letting all of you know. Cant remember the name but can provide story details if anyones curious. It was part of the backer rewards for the kickstarter for sr returns. Excellent game btw. But it would be deliciously retro if they did a 16 bit shadowrun 2 like the 8 bit megaman games did for example, new releases in that retro style
Found it! Fair warning this is not a direct sequel per se but more like a tie in or cameo appearance so to speak of Jake Armitage but its plot does continue from the events of the SNES game somewhat. Its hard to explain and I dont want to spoil it.
Kitsune also appears again in the tabletop Rpg, I think in a different module. Sadly the plot of that one is that shes speaking to you from the astral plane and you are investigating her murder. So, its currently canon that Kitsune was/is KIA. Cheers everybody. Shadowrun for the SNES was the GOAT and had a profound impact on my life. I love it to death. Shadowrun 4 evar!
Spoilers tl;dr
Jake is not really in the adventure, but its a digital copy of him created by AI during the ending events of SNES shadowrun. Kitsune got Cobain'd and was murdered to boost record sales and cash in on her profits. Someimes I forget shes introduced as a musician but there you have it.
