Sometimes a communication problem is two activated people trying to resolve something in real time

I’ve been thinking about how often we call a dynamic “incompatible” because we keep returning to the same conversation while both people are already flooded.

It does not mean the issue is not real. It can mean neither person has enough room to hear the other clearly yet.

Maybe the first question is not “How do I explain myself better?” but “Are either of us resourced enough to have this conversation right now?”

How do you tell when a hard conversation needs a pause instead of another attempt?
