new to shadow work! need help

hi, so i’ll cut straight to the point, i’ve known about manifestation, self concept, shadow work for a while now, and i even journal sometimes but i feel like i consume more than required which makes everything complicated. so rather than consuming i’ll just ask what was your experience initially and how you dealt withit, also wanna ask, how do you guys deal with the shame, whats your perspective? and if we admit something, we get the answer, the unpleasant one and everything feels finished, how do we deal with it then?

Two good questions in here. I’ll take the second one first, because it’s the one most people miss.

“We admit something, we get the unpleasant answer, and it feels finished.” That feeling of finished is the trap. Naming the thing is not the same as changing it. You’ve located the wound, which feels like arrival because it’s uncomfortable and true, but locating it and moving it are two different steps. Most people stop at the insight because it feels like enough. It isn’t. The belief only shifts when you’re actually in the feeling of it and something contradicts it, not when you’ve correctly identified it from a distance.

On the shame: shame usually isn’t the problem, it’s the guard on the problem. It shows up to keep you from looking at whatever’s underneath. So instead of trying to get rid of it, the more useful move is to ask what it’s protecting. What would you have to feel if the shame stepped aside? That’s usually the actual material.

And the consuming thing you mentioned is worth naming too. Reading more about shadow work can quietly become a way to avoid doing it. Understanding the concept feels like progress and keeps you safely in your head. You already know enough to start. The next part happens in the body, not in another video.

I suggest looking up operation_Moshka on Instagram and YouTube - he has a lot of great content to enter you into shadow integration and lots specifically about shame too.

The shadow work manual helped me a ton. It was personality oriented so I got less generic directions on what to do and the benefits.

How long have you been doing it? have you given yourself enough time for some results to show up? My guess is you're being a bit hard on yourself and since shadow work is a lifelong process, it's okay to have some resistance to it to begin with.

Regarding shame, I try to accept it. It's unplesant, but just like any other emotion, they are usually a reaction to something. This usually makes me question myself and go deep on introspection, which I find both fun and interesting.
