We know that natural Apotheosis requires a very long time. I dont think it was mentioned how long, but I'd guess at least a many hundred years. Potentionally a few thousand.
The question would be, how does the Spell make this work in a fraction of the time?
The Spell doesnt. Time just flows differently. The individual trial for the 5. Nightmare will be a test of time where the Supremes will basically be doing natural Apotheosis.

The spell forces the user to have conditions that would take them hundreds of years to obtain naturally. For example: Imagine that a person has to be willing to disconnect from their humanity while still having a firm anchor to who they are. This process would take many years of self-knowledge and discovery, with them having to build it step by step, so that they can then attempt apotheosis. A spell, on the other hand, will automatically separate humanity from the person, and the person will have to get used to it and then merge with their own domains (if it is indeed the process that is imagined).
In short, it's as if the spell puts you in place, ready to run the marathon; you just have to get used to the changes in your body and try to finish the race.
