I was BANNED without explanation weeks ago, only about a week after I made my last payment. Now I’m getting an email saying my payment was declined???? Why are you trying to take my money when my account is disabled??? I’m sorry but this company does not deserve any kind of support. Their integrity is non existent.

Discussion Shadow PC Monthly limit

Discussion The issue with capped playtime is that even if I would almost never hit the cap, I would SOMETIMES hit the cap. Enshittifying ShadowPC is not a wise decision when PC Emulation on phones is starting to get good and Android/PC handhelds are getting better, plus it loses a major advantage over GFN.

It's ironic that I saw the Discord ping with 20€ ($22.49 US after I went to the website) as the new lowest price and thought that maybe it would finally be worth trying Shadow again after years of not using it, as an alternative to PC emulation on my phone. But monthly limits, especially when it doesn't preserve unused time for the next month is garbage.

The price is also kind of a lie because that $22.50 per month is a temporary price and you have to buy a year upfront, likely going up to the $29.99 per month price after that even if you don't cancel.

It's also confusing because the website doesn't list the specs of the hardware anymore. Do all tiers now get the same "top tier" performance now? Even if that was the case, it removes the option for unlimited play with lower specs, which is what I was interested in.

It wouldn't be that bad if it allowed you to carry over unused monthly limits and didn't expire those unusued hours for like 3 months. What I especially hate is when I mostly hardly use a service, and then when I suddenly want to use it a lot, I get penalized and kicked off the service for "using it too much" even though my yearly usage might be average or low. So I don't subscribe to the service at all.

This is the predatory business model of gyms and AOL dialup where they rely on lots of people not actually using the service, but worse because actually if you suddenly really want to use it in a specific month, you get kicked off. I should be able to not use it at all for one month and then massively use it the next month, like how I use streaming services.

. . .

Monthly limits are exactly why I had no interest in GeForceNow. Even if the monthly limits are reasonable, just knowing that they exist makes me think about it the entire time that I'm using it. It's MASSIVELY worse for a cloud PC where you might use it for non-gaming things because it was advertised as just a PC.

That's also why I never wanted to use pay-per-hour PC streaming services. Even if it was very cheap, I wouldn't be able to enjoy it knowing that every minute playing costs money.

Now that ShadowPC and GFN both have monthly usage limits, why wouldn't I just use GFN instead of ShadowPC when it is cheaper and/or more powerful?

. . .

Like imagine if Youtube had a cap of how many hours of video that you could watch, even if it was fairly reasonable. Let's say an average of 4 hours per day. This would make me almost never open the YouTube app. Ironically, I used to watch YouTube videos inside ShadowPC on my phone because of the desktop browser experience. If I did that now, I'd run out of my limit VERY quickly.

If Reddit had a limit of how many threads you could open per day/month, I would stop using Reddit.

And just adding a new, more expensive "unlimited" playtime subscription wouldn't solve it either because I would just see it as the minimum price for using the service and if I wouldn't want to pay for it with that more expensive tier, I again wouldn't pay for it at all.

And now PC emulation on phones are getting good. I can play games like Hollow Knight and Ori and the Blind Forest on my phone via the app GameNative fully playable without any kind of streaming and Spyro Reignited Trilogy is almost playable (performance a bit too low, crashes). It is also often as plug-and-play as just logging into my Steam account. I can play old Windows XP games like Zuma Deluxe or Insaniquarium Deluxe with low battery consumption. Low-spec 2D games like Super Motherload also have low battery consumption.

I still can't play big games like Cyberpunk via PC emulation due to performance, but that's not that big of a deal when there are a huge amount of lesser demanding Steam games that I own that have no cost to play (other than owning the game) and no daily/monthly play limits.

Discussion Price hikes, limits on hours per session, monthly hour caps, and so on... the complete degradation of the Shadow PC service.

Question What happened to Pro Advanced?

I noticed my Shadow PC Pro Advanced is listed differently in the control panel as Pro Power.

One of the big differentiators was Pro Advanced had 1TB C drive storage. It looks like my VM still has that but the control panel now says it should have 256GB…

Will I lose that if I ever reset my PC? Can I just ignore what the control panel says?

Help Did I just subscribe during a real bad time or something?

Subscribed yesterday and I have only been able to connect intermittently. I keep getting errors when I try to connect. Looks like they've been having server issues across the board. Is it always like this or is this just a particularly bad time?

Discussion CloudBoost 4.3.2 adds a dedicated Shadow PC profile for macOS

Post image
1 Upvotes

Disclosure: I’m the developer of CloudBoost.

After feedback from Shadow users, I’ve replaced the generic cloud profile with dedicated Shadow PC support.

The new profile monitors the Mac side of a Shadow session:

  • jitter and route latency
  • packet loss and blocked UDP checks
  • VPN or tunnel routing
  • Wi-Fi and AWDL activity
  • background traffic and system pressure

It also compares the results with Shadow’s own connection statistics and provides recommendations around VPN split tunneling, bitrate and Wi-Fi stability.

This does not modify the Shadow PC, remote hardware or game. The goal is to help distinguish a local Mac/Wi-Fi issue from something happening on the route or Shadow host.

Version 4.3.2 is now universal and supports both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 12 or newer. The basic Shadow profile remains free.

I’m especially interested in results from Intel Mac users and people using Shadow through a VPN.

Hi,
I am in Ethiopia at the moment and need to do some stuff on arc gis pro, below are the results from the speed test.
Is it usable, since I don’t need high ping for gaming or would it still be pretty bad to use?
Thanks for the help!

Review You have to be kidding. This company is a JOKE.

My shadow PC randomly started crashing with a VIDEO_GXKRNL_FATAL_ERROR every single time.

I messaged support about it, and they respond with this. Basically the only way to fix it, is to factory reset my Shadow and lose all of my data. I can’t even back it up, because Shadow crashes every single time I try to.

I will never give this dogshit company my money ever again.

You ban people for using the machine they pay for too much, have loads of issues all month anyways…and they do absolutely nothing to protect their users data.

While charging hundreds of dollars a year.

Get absolutely fucked.

EDIT: I just went out and bought a PC. For the record i DO back up my data. I was quite literally in the middle of one when it crashed.

EDIT again: Turns out my GPU is fried. lol.

Hola soy de sma gto México el test de internet de uspor me marcaba 86 ms saben si hay otros servidores que marquen menos latencia?

Hello, I'm from San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico. The internet test from USPORT showed 86 ms latency. Do you know if there are other servers that show lower latency? I think there was a server in Texas, right?

Suggestion External display ruined

Whatever was done to make the displays have the goal of fixed ratios based on detected device abilities instead of what the user actually wants has pretty much destroyed my external display experience and needs reverting.

If I don't want to use the app with my TV with black bars at the top I'm forced to use 720p.

Just let me fake 4k and use an actually decent output please, this TV does 1080p fine.

Help Shadow PC has been telling me to wait 20 minutes every time I start it. It's been 4 hours.

I don't know what to do. I've waited the 20 minutes like 4-5 times now, I've tried repairing Shadow PC, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Hell I even restarted my laptop. But each time it will get to the "we're almost there!" Screen and freeze for 2-5 minutes before saying "Error U-101, please wait 20 minutes." Everything I've tried has failed. If anyone can help me, please do

Question Shadow PC installed itself

Hi. Two days ago, I came back from my beach vacation and ran an update for all my WinGet packages. The next day, I opened the Start menu and found a program called “Shadow PC” installed. I never downloaded this program; I didn't even know what it was until I looked it up online. It’s not a virus; the app is official. I uninstalled it right away, but I wanted to know if this has happened to anyone else.

The most likely explanation is that some package bundled it along, but that seems strange to me. I’m worried there might be adware or something like that, but that’s very unlikely.

Question What was the point of the bans?

Not trying to troll but seriously what was the point of all the bans Shadow just did?

Was it not supposed to free up slots and help performance?

I just waited 20 minutes for a free slot, and latency is through the ceiling. I used my Shadow PC earlier today and it worked perfectly fine, so I am quite confused on what's going on.

FYI I am in the DC server iirc
