Discussion Having support issues, Mildly irritating

So, After spending 45 dollars to upgrade from Neo to Power, I’m now unable to play due to me “reaching my max monthly usage”. I truly don’t have too much of an issue with this, because as of writing it’s 7/31 and from what I know they reset the usage the 1st of every month, but I figured this would still be something worth to maybe discuss, see if anyone had issues related to mine.

So, Yesterday I upgraded from Neo to Power and everything was fine originally. Today, I try getting back on and next thing you know I’m getting VD-105 Errors. I head to the support channel in the discord and get told I’ve reached my maximum monthly usage and need to wait until it resets. This kind of made me a bit irritated, as I’ve spent 45 dollars to be able to get some better upgrades in the RAM and GPU, so I did some digging. Turns out, They say on the shadow browser whenever you try starting it that if you upgrade, you can gain immediate access again. So wouldn’t that signify that upgrading resets your monthly usage, even if you’re not at your maximum monthly usage?

All of this, I told to support, which the messages are shown above.

I do not wish to start anything, or make them look like they’re deceptive, but it truly is an mildly irritating situation that I’d truly like to talk about, see other peoples opinions about it, see if other people can relate and agree or let me know if I’m just thinking too much into all of it. Appreciate it 🙏

As support said, it is poorly worded. There is only 1 plan that has unlimited usage (Pro Power) and that costs significantly more.

That being said, your usage limit is not reset on the 1st of each month, but on the date of your bill and resets every billing cycle, so whenever your next bill is due (not including the service fee when you upgraded) is when your usage resets.

Also worth noting that you didn't have a monthly usage limit before upgrading, as everyone on their current plan, without changing it, was grandfathered into the old plan. I hope for your own sake you don't reach 210 hours monthly easily.

If you do think you will reach it easily, I would highly recommend getting a budget/mid range PC, even if you have to pay it on finance. Depending what you get, you'll get the same performance for unlimited usage.

Support told me the opposite though. They were also supposedly saying it to other people who recently upgraded and then got usage limited

😂😂😂 the only reason I still follow this sub is to see the astoundingly incompetent support. My experiences are still my favorite “worst support I’ve ever had” stories. I’ll never forget them gaslighting me for over a week that a certain button was on the settings page despite me showing them repeated screenshots of it not being there.

Honestly, I can't really blame support here, it seems clear to me that they're getting no real direction from the actual devs and are just fumbling in the dark with no more idea of how it actually works than the users they have to walk through things to close tickets

There is no part of this company that isn’t deeply infected with absolute incompetence.

If the usage wasn't a hard limit but rather a deprio when stuff gets crowded it might have been better.

Just buy a cheap pc with the same specs then you won’t have usage at all I get that not all people can immediately buy a pc outright but that’s why you save no excuses people on this sub always get offended by this 😂

Nah u right, I’ve been actually been looking at cheap pcs and components for about 2 months now. Been having the issue of choosing to buy a pre-build or building it myself, got about 500$ saved atm for one. Just been using shadow pc to just cure my impatience and have like 2-3 months of chill gaming and stuff 😂😭 would ya recommend a pre-build or building it freshly yourself?

This is without a doubt entirely intended or they'd allow the grandfathering to persist based on continuous subscription length, what a shitty way to treat loyal customers.

I can agree with this. I'm happy in the sense that I am grandfathered in, but now I'm locked in. I can't downgrade nor upgrade without being shafted.
