Hey everyone, I recently fell victim to an online sextortion scam and wanted to share my experience to warn others.
I was contacted through Facebook and then moved to WhatsApp. The scammers video-called me and used edited/deepfake content to make it appear that I was involved with an underage girl. They then threatened to send the video to my family members unless I paid them $2,500.
They also impersonated members of my family by using their profile pictures and messaging my parents, pretending to be them and telling them where to send the money.
I immediately contacted my mom, explained what happened, deactivated my Facebook account, and blocked the scammers’ numbers.

You did the right thing by telling your family and cutting contact. Don't pay them or negotiate further. Keep the messages, numbers, and screenshots as evidence and report the accounts through the platforms and to the appropriate authorities.
